12:00 AM
I am never ever buying dell desktops, ever

kos
@HeatherBrown Ah I didn't even notice, I had the window minimized, in fact I wasn't even understanding what you were talking about :D

@Serg Don't every buy dell..
except (maybe) the XPS editions.

@Seth yup, learned that already . . .i've just bend cpu pins because that stupid cpu is basically glued to the heat sink and has to be put on by rotating the heat sink . . .

user139252
12:23 AM
@Serg can you fix it?

1:07 AM
@HeatherBrown I could but i don't have patience to sit and straighten each pin, so i'll just get a new cpu . . . luckly there's used ones within 20$ range

1:21 AM
o0
lol
Don't buy desktops
build em

@JourneymanGeek my friend picked up this desktop outside some office or house. People who owned that desktop before didn't want it. I tell you, there was so much dust inside, i thought the poor desktop was working inside a volcano with constant smog

Oh
then its fine
did that, amusingly enough with a dell

1:36 AM
@JourneymanGeek I am just frustrated because whoever designed that freakin heat sink expected the heat sink to be rotated into place. What happens if the thermal paste dries out and sticks to cpu ? well, that giant heatsink drags CPU with it in circular motion and bends the freakin pins
I'm basically complaining about whole bunch of nothing here . . .but it's still disappointing
Firefox is also disappointing me lately
spawns too many processes, hoags CPU

0_0
I've actually had awesome results with the 64 bit release (on windows)

Hmmm, I dunno. Maybe I need to play around with settings

Does any one have an answer for the question : askubuntu.com/questions/717431/… ? I need the solution desperately . I can start bounty only after 2 days. please help me

Opera isn't doing . . . nope , nevermind - it also spawned sh** ton of processes

Q: Can't play HD .mkv files (even in vlc)

VishwaPrakash H VI am not able to play any HD .mkv files in vlc. (No problems with low quality videos). Here for example, It says "Unfortunately there is no way to fix this", really??? when the same video is played in Videos, I get this: And.... this: Some times I get a little bit different error messag...

1:51 AM
Hi
@VishwaPrakashHV are you there?

yeah
I could not install gpac
:(

why?
what happens if you try to install it?

I had tried sudo apt-get install gpac and it installed successfully but
I did not get any video playes

@VishwaPrakashHV Do you have ubuntu-restricted-extras installed?

@Seth Yeah , I have Ubuntu-Restricted extras installed with all optional add-ons

1:56 AM
actually you should download the deb package from the gpacs site. but okay.
try to run this command from terminal: MP4Client path/to/file.mkv

@VishwaPrakashHV There's no chance you would have an example you could share with us, is there?

@incBrain I did that, deb file. it shows "upgrade" only

@AnubianNoob hi! long time no see :)
Where'd the hamster go?

did you run MP4Client command?

1:58 AM
@VishwaPrakashHV oh, missed the download link :)

@incBrain please wait a sec. I am doing that

@VishwaPrakashHV It's still there, just look a little closer ;)
sorry linked the wrong person :P

@AnubianNoob k

oh my.. this is 4K RED footage. This might take a while xD

0_0
What is?

1:59 AM
@JourneymanGeek the sample video in Vishwa's question.

(and man, can't wait for 4k to become ubiquitous)

@Seth please refer the youtube vid i just uploaded.

if you install the package via package manager then it might be not the latest version. Thats why I suggested to use the deb pkg from the Nightly builds.
But it's not that bad ))) running MP4Client from anywhere in the terminal should do it

its just 1080p

@JourneymanGeek /me just wants to get back to 1080 D:
@AnubianNoob :D

2:00 AM
@Seth its 1080p
but HEVC
which is kinda new

title said 4k ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@VishwaPrakashHV I have no problems playing it..

@JourneymanGeek HEVC is 2 years old man )))

@Seth We do circles in SO room 15 (android), and they have a circle gang going on, but I couldn't sacrifice the hamster to join the circles so someone fixed the problem for me :)

nope. says 1080p
@incBrain its still uncommon
I'd assume VLC could play it though

yeah. but its gaining interest pretty fast

2:02 AM
`vishwa@vishwa-PC:~$ MP4Client /media/vishwa/Entertainment/Sherlock/SHERLOCK SEASON 4/Sherlock.The.Abominable.Bride.2016.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.x265.HEVC-StarLord[UTR].mkv

@incBrain this is what i got :(

@AnubianNoob Wow, lots of circles!

Yeah it's quite the party

try this:
touch ~/.gpacrc
and run again

@VishwaPrakashHV Do you have vdpau-va-driver and libvdpau1 installed?

@Seth no :( (i think )

2:06 AM
@VishwaPrakashHV Install them.

@incBrain `vishwa@vishwa-PC:/media/vishwa/Entertainment/Sherlock/SHERLOCK SEASON 4$ touch ~/.gpacrc
vishwa@vishwa-PC:/media/vishwa/Entertainment/Sherlock/SHERLOCK SEASON 4$ MP4Client Sherlock.The.Abominable.Bride.2016.1080p.WEB-DL.DD5.1.x265.HEVC-StarLord\[UTR\].mkv

vishwa@vishwa-PC:/media/vishwa/Entertainment/Sherlock/SHERLOCK SEASON 4$
@Seth just sudo apt-get install vdpau-va-driver and sudo apt-get install libvdpau1 installed ??
right?

@VishwaPrakashHV no installed on the end. Otherwise yes.

@Seth and what are they actually?

You can make it one command: sudo apt-get install vdpau-va-driver libvdpau1
@VishwaPrakashHV actually, wait.

@Seth K :)

2:09 AM
don't install them yet.

@Seth Ok

yeah, scratch that, I don't think those are what we need..
But the video plays fine for me..
so something I have is making it work.

@VishwaPrakashHV I did have the same issue in the past. but I don't remember how I solved it. This .gpacrc is a simple config file. it defines where your modules on your systme are and so on.
probably because you installed gpac using sudo apt-get

@Seth I downloaded the other video from torrents. its 1GB. Its the main problem and it 1080p (not 4k)

@VishwaPrakashHV Install libvpx2.
@VishwaPrakashHV but you can't play the example video right?
(besides the fact that the torrent is likely illegal)

2:12 AM
@Seth yeah, I cant play that 4k video too

well I can.

and no problems for torrent in India :)

@VishwaPrakashHV can you update gpac with the Nightly builds downloaded package.

@Seth `Unable to locate package libvpx2
`

hmm. what ubuntu version?

2:15 AM
shit its 3:15 am. I should go to bed lol

@Seth 14.04 LTS
@incBrain I did sudo apt-get purge gpac and installed it with deb file again
but no change:(
@incBrain k gn

@VishwaPrakashHV I'll take a look on it again tomorrow. I remember that I did have the same problem once

@Seth any PPA ...
?
@Seth are you there?
Any good video players? better than VLC any body?

Try just libvpx.

its tough to beat this beast ))

2:30 AM
@Seth same problem :(
Unable to locate
@Seth shall I do sudo apt-get install libvpx* ?? its working , but it selects lot of packs

3:03 AM
@VishwaPrakashHV for trusty?
morning :)

This is the only question about fingerprints on Thinkpad, and the question is formulated for 14.04. Should I make the question more general (all Ubuntu versions) or create a new question for 15.10? (for which the answer is slightly different) askubuntu.com/questions/511876/…

@VishwaPrakashHV If you want for testing purpose (for trusty) here: launchpad.net/~mc3man/+archive/ubuntu/media-1

3:20 AM
@Ravan wait a sec i am uploading the O/P
@Ravan I have added the O/P of apt-cache policy gstreamer0.10-libde265 gstreamer1.0-libde265 vlc-plugin-libde265 ubuntu-restricted-extras , please see the Question now.

@VishwaPrakashHV seen

@NicolasRaoul make it more general, and add headers for parts which are version-specific

3:46 AM
So it seems my minecraft server authentication issues have something to do with ssl certificates
which i am not sure how to solve

@longsleep Hey, do you have any solutions for this Question?

@Takkat Apparently the Firefox Developer Edition is in the Ubuntu Repositories now, can people test this out?

8:57 AM
@blade19899 not that I could find them... firefox-dev != developer edition

> firefox-dev - Safe and easy web browser from Mozilla - development files
Dev files does not mean its F.D.E.
He is incorrect

apparently they got confused by developer edition vs. development files

someone give @kos more rep to get faster to 20k ;)

How does this thing get five upvotes?
I am still waking up so I may have missed something but it certainly looks like complete nonsense.
It's the same person who posted the one @kos pointed out earlier. I think we should probably have a look at his other answers.

there are people who blindly upvote anything remotely reminiscent of command line... :"(

@Wally this is very much hardware dependent. Some cards do allow retasking of a MIC port to LINE-in or HEADPHONE-out, some don't. There even are cards that have two MIC ports, one of them configurable, the other not. Then it will depend to which pins the MIC-jack is connected on the board... you may have to try out (low signal line-in levels should probably not damage your card, too high levels will lead to distortion before the card suffers).

Hi people, has anyone seen Bytecommander around lately?

kos
2:43 PM
@JacobVlijm I haven't seen him these days, maybe I saw him 3-4 days ago, however apparently he logged in two days ago (judging from the "last seen" on his profile)

@kos Ah, how could I forget to check his profile. Thanks!

kos
@JacobVlijm Np! However he's not lurking in the chat, not that I could see at least. :)

@Ravan Do you have problem with the same application (whiskermenu)?

@JacobVlijm I tempted to accept, but not possible ;p

@kos Exactly, hope he is fine.
@Ravan haha, to accept for B.commander? :)

@kos nope. I need custom shortcuts to work on key release than key press
I am searching for similar (related) posts
@Jacob hehe :)
or do I have to open new one

Does anybody want to donate their Raspberry Pi 2 to my website? Preferably in the US or Western Canada

3:55 PM
@Ravan Key-release is tracked with keybinder see the case-switch around 409. Might stop working with the full change from X11 though.
Needs some more lines to be useful though.

4:23 PM
@incBrain I did a clean installation from the package you provided
@incBrain This is what I got :(

4:42 PM
@VishwaPrakashHV strange output. opening URL. try to open mp4 file
@VishwaPrakashHV probably gpac player does not understand mkv format.
@VishwaPrakashHV if playing mp4 file will be successful. you can remultiplex mkv into mp4 container using ffmpeg

5:01 PM
@incBrain Its like this
and the video is stuck here
@incBrain but wait... I will try for another mp4. cause I tried converting that mkv to mp4
@incBrain It plays mp4 files without any problem :)

5:16 PM
@incBrain is VLC not an option for .mkv?

@HeatherBrown In his case VLC has no proper HEVC plugin

user139252
@incBrain x265, no?

user139252
You have to compile from source, but I was pretty sure it worked.

yeah I know. he installed vlc-plugin-libde26 but it seems like it isnt proper implemented

user139252
Let me test...

5:23 PM
but you are right using x265 and compiling vlc from source would do it too
don't forget to enable openhevc in ./configure before make it

@Fabby @Kos @JacobVlijm I say give it two more days. Then we should worry...

kos
@Fabby You know who I'm really worried about? Eliah Kagan. He hasn't logged in since months. Hopefully he just stopped attending the site. I was also a bit afraid to ask to be honest.
@Fabby No, ok, I found his Twitter profile, and he tweeted something on November 15. I'm so relieved to see that.

@kos You know, that's nearly 2 months ago.

user139252
Don't concern him more!

Hi crowd!

kos
@jokerdino Right, but he seem to usually tweet in spurts of 3-4 tweets on one day and then not posting maybe even for a week looking at his tweets. Maybe even less because of the festivities, I'm not really worried too much about that. To be honest I was more worried by his last login on the site, which was more than 7 months ago.
Afternoon @A.B. @JacobVlijm

Hi @kos, I wouldn't worry if he (B.C) just wasn't around for a few days, but since he just asked a question, it seems he didn't plan it.

kos
@JacobVlijm No actually now I was talking about Eliah Kagan, yeah I too think that two days off is not really worrying (not even a week if you have a busy week actually)
