hm, spam flag got declined.
someone who is spamming across the network. boo

what question @jokerdino?

just flagged a bunch in SF and SU

I see @JourneymanGeek has a meta - what links on SF and SU are you referring to?

all posts on SU were deleted a while ago
here's UL for you - UL

1:16 PM
and then SF
there were five, three of them disappeared

they took care of it ;p

ah, they all gone

just going to say - dont see anything.

I can pull up the SU one I guess, I'm got high enough rep

they deleted it as we speak
http://serverfault.com/search?q=url%3A%22*slashroot.in*%22
wait, i think the url is getting messed up

1:18 PM
Also, if the meta post seems too.. confrontational let me know, spammers get my goat. baaaad

http://unix.stackexchange.com/search?q=url%3A%22*slashroot.in*%22
hm, what's that 22?

hey guys. I'd like to ask for some information. I have just posted something that might be a duplicate in the eyes of moderators...but I think it isnt. I'd like to know if there is a simple "instal and then choose" way to set up nautilus on Xubuntu 12.04.

@JourneymanGeek its a fair point - I'm looking for the link between the guy and the site in question.

@fossfreedom the link is in his profile.

1:20 PM
... which is deleted on SF

hm, he doesn't have the link in AU

I like these guys. burn the fields, salt the earth
its on his UL profile

@jokerdino - its a fair link - there doesnt seem to be a pattern yet on AU.

@fossfreedom: the pattern is really cross site

one declined flag doesn't hurt me. it's your call

1:22 PM
I only noticed it cause I was talking to a SU mod about it, and he took a look on the SE wide search thing
ditto. I just hate halfwitter SEO ;p

Q: Spam Flag declined.. exactly what *is* the line?

Journeyman GeekI flagged this answer, and questions by this user on SU, SF, UL and here - he has had a clear pattern of similar posts with minimal content, linking back to the site. This sort of breaks the self promotion rule and seems flaggable to me. I only worked this out cause I remember seeing the domain ...

Q: Does apt-cacher Change Packages `Access Time`?

tAmir NaghizadehI tried to remove the long time unused packages from apt-cacher archive using find: 1. $find /var/cache/apt-cacher -atime +5 -type f -name ".*deb*" | wc -l 8471 2. $find /var/cache/apt-cacher -atime +9 -type f -name ".*deb*" | wc -l 2269 3. $find /var/cache/apt-cacher -atime +10 -t...

1:51 PM
@JourneymanGeek maybe - anyway I've answered with my thoughts to your meta. Basically need more evidence.

Hello! Wondering if anyone here knows of a better screen recording tool for linux, other than RecordMyDesktop or Kazam?

@fossfreedom thanks! I didn;t come across this in my search

o/ @MarcoCeppi

2:05 PM
need a hug can you pop-over?

2:20 PM
He is overflowing with flags

WHo should i contact to change my username?

look in your profile - you can edit your display name

You should be able to change the username yourself

that's cool, thanks i will check it ;)

2:48 PM
Sorry for asking again but i would like to change my accont's email and my acount's username
Where should i go?

Shouldn't xvidcap be removed from the answer? It's no longer active, and was eventually removed from the repos. askubuntu.com/a/4430/36459

And then?

@Bong.Da.City On the right, you'll find a big box saying "(your about me is currently blank)"

oo ok i found it :)

=)

2:52 PM
@its_me 10.04, and 11.10 are still supported. So we could just leave it until later.

ah, okay

3:33 PM
@rsoul In regards to your question deletion. If I remove your question the bounty will be refunded to you. This isn't quite fair since you've promised it for a solution and you got one (regardless how simple the question is). If you truly want the question deleted first award the bounty then you can delete it yourself.

3:53 PM
appears

playing with gtkentry :/

Google Chrome is crashing the desktop enviro on startup in xubuntu for me. Where can I find some logs that might help me out?

I also made a post about it: http://askubuntu.com/questions/223080/google-chrome-not-chromium-is-crashing-xfce-on-startup-where-can-i-find-some

check /var/crash

I use recordmydesktop to capture my desktop in video. The problem is, when I plug-in my microphone it doesn't detect it. I have to restart the system so that recordmydesktop knows that there's a microphone attached and that it needed to record the sound from there. Is there a way to do this without having to restart my system?

@MarcoCeppi I understand. But the only answer isn't the solution (since I already had the font installed) and the whole question is caused by my stupidity. I would rather lose the rep and not award to anyone...

4:07 PM
@RSoul - your choice to award the bounty. Let the bounty run to the end. Then you can delete yourself.
2

@RSoul You can't just lose rep, if the question is deleted by a moderator the rep is refunded. The user did help you as they pointed out it needed to be applied. Just award the bounty and you can delete the question from the site

@MarcoCeppi Thanks.

@RSoul np, typically this isn't a problem, but when a bounty is attached things get complicated

4:39 PM
Is this question okay on askubuntu?

Q: Force All Windows To Open At A Set Resolution ('width x height' pixels)

its_meIs it possible to force all application windows to open at a specific resolution (i.e. a set specific size like 1280x720 pixels)?

(I mean, I couldn;t find any dupes after searching. But if there are any that you know, please let me know)

Looks fine to me, though I'm not sure if a solution exists

oh ={

There might be though! So it's good you asked

fingers crossed

hello alll.... :D
i need help http://askubuntu.com/questions/223069/cheese-webcam-problem

4:49 PM
@its_me probably devilspie would be what you need - this has some examples of opening stuff at a given size. help.ubuntu.com/community/Devilspie

will take a look, thanks

Review time.

@fossfreedom sounds like a good answer wink wink

... on windows at the mo'... cant produce a real answer. I'll leave this to others.

@fossfreedom Okay, then I'll answer it myself
=)

4:59 PM
BBT
Good Night

lol
We all know compizconfig-settings-manager is pretty buggy, but will installing it itself break things? I mean, I just need to use it to force all app windows to open at a specified size.
Just wanted to ask before installing =P

5:42 PM
G'day folks :-)
Just got a new server today \o/

6:02 PM
@RolandiXor-TheIceMan lol

@its_me no it won't
@Joshua :D

6:47 PM
Surprise, it's me.
o/

6:57 PM
Hey :D
How's ye olde jobe going?

Well... actually... I haven't started yet.
There were some delays.

I have to pee

@GeorgeEdison ahh
@Joshua cool.

7:19 PM
@GeorgeEdison bah

This video highlights some problems with Ubuntu, but it also made me face-palm, because this guy doesn't know what he's talking about D:

7:33 PM
@RolandiXor-TheIceMan I don't know, with the exception of a few small things (Finding the closed button when maximized, and misinformation) it shows a great user experience as far as easy discover-ability

@MarcoCeppi Would now be a good time to deploy the new 2buntu blog?

Yeah, I've got a few mins
let me get you an invite link thing

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan - Am with Marco, My brother which hated Linux, is trying 12.10 for the first time (First Linux experience) and took him less than 30 minutes to get used to and learn Unity, specially after he left the Dash button pressed and the Help wallpaper appeared. After that, smooth sailing like Marco's boat.
Then, there is the other case of my dad. First time Linux user, Ubuntu user with 12.10 and it took him half a day. But after that he enjoyed more the easy ways of Ubuntu that having to click click click like in windows to get to some specific places. He also liked Dash when it looked for his movies.
2buntu blog?

You'll see shortly.

7:54 PM
is it this site: 2buntu.com

It will be for a few minutes.
We're deploying some new changes.

I am also working on something similar but in spanish in ubuntuve.com

Cool.

maybe an idea would be to create a version of 2ubuntu in spanish that I could work on
just brainstorming here
Finished seeing the video @RolandiXor-TheIceMan . The mother had a lot of questions which is good. One idea that came from the video would be to merge the options in System Settings for Appearence and Display. Both are related to video. How it's display and how we want to see it.
Same would be for Keyboard layout and Keyboard. Both are talking about keyboards.

8:40 PM
@RolandiXor-TheIceMan Where did you hear about Libre Office 4? Can't find a word...

8:57 PM
@GeorgeEdison what did you do to 2buntu.com? o.O

Guys, I have submitted an idea about the System Settings. Let me know what you think: brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/30384

9:13 PM
@Joshua Maintenance.
Stand by - it's taking longer than I thought.

9:32 PM
@GeorgeEdison let me know if you need anything

Will do - so far so good.
Just taking a little longer, that's all.

@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine I can't believe brainstorm still exists
does anyone check that?

9:50 PM
@MarcoCeppi I've run into a bit of a problem. When Python is running under Apache, it isn't finding the stuff in ~/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages. Here's the WSGI file:
from sys import path

path.insert(0, '/home/b1005/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages')
path.insert(0, '/home/b1005/2buntu-django-blog/')

from twobuntu.wsgi import application
The twobuntu.wsgi file tries to import django.core.wsgi but fails (according to the Apache error log).
However, the django directory does indeed exist in ~/.local/lib/python2.7/site-packages.

@GeorgeEdison I'll take a peek

Thanks.

10:16 PM
@GeorgeEdison this setup is too far from what the Ondina servers expect
Also, it's no longer logging errors to error.log, not sure what you did to get that cusotm error page up
I'm heading home, I'll check back when I get in

10:36 PM
Oh that's what happened
I was afk
@GeorgeEdison how are we looking now?

Q: Is it possible to add a scrollbar to Unity-greeter?

RolandiXor - The Ice ManI've got a lot of Desktop Environments installed, and as a result, my desktop selection menu on the Unity greeter is rather long. This shouldn't be a problem, but for some reason there is no way to scroll. The okay button is off of the screen! I reported a bug about the issue, but the bug was ig...

:( can I get a vote or two? No one seems to have noticed this question yet lol

@MarcoCeppi - If you didn't know about brainstorm being still opened, that makes me think how important it is for new ideas. Is there another way you would recommend for me to put that idea in?

@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine no clue on that one.
These days suggesting features is a pointless exercise IMHO.

10:52 PM
@RolandiXor-TheIceMan - How would I go about trying to get to the right people to do this or how would I do if I get the code and change it accordingly for them to accept it?

@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine they likely won't accept it. I would suggest probably reporting a bug and tagging it as wishlist or something.
Either way, the way how developers are these days, it's unlikely that you will get a good response.

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan - When did all of this die god!. I mean what happen to giving devs ideas. I thought the whole paper cur, brainstorm and whatnot was for this.

@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine it is, on paper...
Not sure what's wrong with the world of open source but it's not the same anymore

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan - Wow. What a let down.

Back.
Oh wait - it's working now?
@MarcoCeppi: Actually - that custom error means it's at least partially working now.

10:59 PM
@GeorgeEdison do we have a back up of the wordpress site?
@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine yeah :[

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan Yes, absolutely.

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan - Going to test how dead the Ubuntu ideas are. Posted the same info in Google Plus, Linkedin and mailing list. Hope somebody reads it.

@LuisAlvarado-TheWolverine good luck with that...
I've been posting ideas for a while now

11:04 PM
If it doesn't get a "no" it just gets ignored.

Wow man
can you post here one or two links

WTF is that Roland

:D
Randomness I found on G+
I'll dig up some links in a bit
gotta grab some food (but yes, I do have links)

11:19 PM
@MarcoCeppi: Now my site is down.

11:49 PM
@MarcoCeppi: Everything is magically fixed now.
Almost everything...
static.2buntu.com is just displaying the default page.

So all we need to do now is import the data?

Uboontoo? Or ubuhntoo?

Uboontoo
(correct pronunciation)
It's African, just like Ndoku
and Rwanda

@RolandiXor-TheIceMan Sort of... and I need to figure out how to create the admin account so I can log in.
We're making progress though.

@GeorgeEdison Oh I see.
