Yea well, technically it isn't even my question. It was a question Bruno had on #juju.
Just wanted to have it documented on AU.
Linked m_3 to the question since he has answered it but apparently he had no time or forgot to answer it.

8:16 PM
Hey guys
Having a little problem...
I'm trying to burn an iso to a DVD, but in the Write To Disc dialog box where you can select the dvd, nothing happens when I click on it
I click on the DVD to select it, and the field still remains blank
using Gnome-Shell btw

never had the issue
can u try dd?
dd if=path/to/iso of=path/to/ur/media
@Icedrake ^

Can you answer this? What's the deal with all these Chuck montages? http://askubuntu.com/questions/80772/whats-the-deal-with-all-these-chuck-montages #community

hey
8:44 PM
hello, friends

@hey

hey
how can I burn .iso file to my USB in Ubuntu? :)
p.s. i am noob

Are you trying to create a startup disk for Ubuntu on a USB?

hey
almost. I'm trying to create startup disk for Windows 7 repair on a USB

Ah, I know there's a Startup Disk Creator, but that's for creating boot disks for Ubuntu
Sounds like you're trying to do something else

hey
8:47 PM
i want to fix windows, so i could give more space to ubuntu
because my windows is messed up and I can't load my laptop

Ah, so you're trying to burn an ISO to a USB, your windows disk
I'm not entire sure how you could do that. I know, obviously, ISO => CD

hey
I am in Ubuntu right now
want to burn ISO to a USB
so I could fix windows

Gotchya
I'm not sure, try asking on the main site

hey
ok, thanks, i'll try

9:02 PM
UNetbootin.
This is what you want.

9:21 PM
I have yet to successfully "burn" a Windows installation CD to a USB stick.
I would just use a CD/DVD if at all possible.

@stefanoPalazzo is it better now?

This might sound stupid but what's the license of the Ubuntu COF logo?

@OctavianDamiean You can probably find it under the branding guidelines
Maybe not

I downloaded and read the Ubuntu brandmark and Circle of Friends guideline but there is no license mentioned in that document.

9:38 PM
@MarcoCeppi Did we finally decide on an icon for linking to packages in questions / answers?
...or are we still waiting to hear back from SE on that?

We picked one, we're waiting on SE to make a tiny url for us. I'll ping them again

nooo I got a close vote :/ damn...

@MarcoCeppi Ah, that's what I was wondering.
Once that is finalized, I can fix up my APT script.

9:53 PM
I guess that asking a question about why the Ubuntu color palette file isn't recognized by InkScape is on-topic right?
:O
We don't have an AskUbuntu Google+ page!

Q: Why doesn't InkScape recognize the Ubuntu color palettes?

Octavian DamieanI have downloaded the Ubuntu color palettes for GIMP/InkScape from design.canonical.com, extracted the files and copied them to /usr/share/inkscape/palettes/ where all the other color palettes are. Yet InkScape 0.48.2 refuses to show the newly added color palettes in the color palettes selection...

10:37 PM
@MarcoCeppi looks like david6 needs an account merge
he's submitting fixes to his own questions

@JorgeCastro Thanks, merged

@MarcoCeppi I can't SSH into one of the services: juju ssh thinkup/0 just says:
> "2011-11-19 14:43:42,640 INFO Waiting for unit to come up."
...I've deploy'ed them both and added the relation.

Then the unit isn't up yet :)
What does juju status look like?

Isn't 0 supposed to be the bootstrapping thingy?

services:
  mysql:
    charm: local:oneiric/mysql-11
    relations: {db: thinkup}
    units:
      mysql/0:
        machine: 0
        public-address: null
        relations: {}
        state: null
  thinkup:
    charm: local:oneiric/thinkup-1
    relations: {db: mysql}
    units:
      thinkup/0:
        machine: 0
        public-address: null
        relations: {}
        state: null

10:46 PM
states are both null

No clue what isn't working or how to debug it.

Oh, never mind.

they also don't have any public-addresses
which means they haven't booted yet
bootstrapper is still waiting for them to come back

How do I start them?

They start automagically from the bootstrapper

10:47 PM
They haven't obviously.
How can I figure out what went wrong?

All the commands are queued up on the boostrapper as it waits for those environments to come back
restroy the environment, bootstrap again

Okay.

this has nothing to do with the charms

Right.

Bootstrapper, that was its name, not bootstrapping thingy. :D

10:49 PM
I have found
that sometimes, just sometimes, lxc does this kind of thing

I'll do that but then I might be a few minutes. I have something I need to do.

@JorgeCastro I've refunded your bounty, go ahead and assign it to the new dup
nvm, that question is too young

YEAH
bummer, oh well, I can wait.

Is there a way to know how many questions jorge castro has edited?
it got to be millions!

11:04 PM
@Alvar 8359 edits.

@OctavianDamiean wow..
where did you find that?

On his activity page. On the revisions tab.
Every page has 30 items and the last one has 19. :)
So the equation was easy. 30 * 278 + 19

haha
I was hoping for a sum.. but math works! :)

I'm sure there is a Data.SE query for that but it would have taken longer to find that query. :D
Plus the latest data dump is at least on month old.

hehe

11:11 PM
There's an easier way

Hmm interesting.
My calculation is off by 868 edits. I wonder why.

11:24 PM
wow! I didn't know that the Ubuntu Desktop Guide is actually helpful! It is awesome in fact!
That is my new favorite book!

Bounty offered: The volume "filesystem root" has only 0 bytes disk space remaining? http://askubuntu.com/questions/73867/the-volume-filesystem-root-has-only-0-bytes-disk-space-remaining #filesystem

@MarcoCeppi You have to ask that question on AU as well. The more Charms questions we can gather the better.

hum?

The question you've asked in #juju.

Oh, well it's more a technical clarification. When I get out of the shower I'll ask "How can I pass configuration options to Juju during deploy"

11:33 PM
Yea that is what I meant. :)

Been working on the steam charm this afternoon, making progress!

I'm doing some LoCo stuff right now. After that I'll be charming.
