@Gajoo If I want to sell it - I'll need more levels better graphics and multiplayer support(I have quite a few ideas when it comes to this) - but yeah I want to pursue it's development in the future ^_^ and potentially sell it if it's fun enough.
@PythonInProgress Right so don't get discouraged but take it in steps. Have you ever implemented a complex algorithm before? It's things like these - now depending on your determination and skill level you might be able to do it without much of a struggle.
if you do want to do this, work on tech demos first, not the game itself. make something to just generate the world and see if you can make it work right.
use too many classes, then get caught in a maze of functions where you don't know what's where anymore, then add a few pointers that are created in a class and returned to a parent class, and then give up because you can no longer even figure out which file your game loop is in anymore. :D
I assume you have a player running around and stuff so that's good. A level editor might be what I want to make next. You don't want the dungeons to be procedurally generated so you can work on making some sort of debug level or something to test in.
Okay then - make a player - decided on if you want gridded movement(usually associated with turnbased games) or smooth-movement(realtime like most top-down games).
