Guys, learn how chat works. Stop blaming 'flag-spammers'. If it keeps happening, maybe it's you that's the problem (generic 'you'). Learn that flags don't have context; learn that out-of-context jokes are gonna have flags validated if they get flagged. Almost 25% of recent flags are from here; that's an issue.
I mean I'm not trying to be petty, but if the 25% statistic matters, it would be straightforward to just go lurk a few other chats around here like Arqade, Lounge<C++>, and Info Sec
@ArtOfCode Several rooms on the network offend me on almost a daily basis, but instead of silently waiting in the background flagging everything questionable, I just leave.
@MickLH that's because you're capable of doing that. Lots of people don't want to leave because they enjoy that room, so they want to have it cleaned up instead.
@MickLH Consider that people might want to participate here but don't because y'all 'jokingly' talk shit about each other and get flagged for it all the time.
@Sie What did I say? Stop blaming flaggers. Flag abuse is really not that common; far less common than this room would have me believe. If it keeps happening, it's probably you that's the problem.
I could just flag over and over, and if you put the mod abuse to the side (at least 1 or 2 mods are in on the jokes in that room) it doesn't actually help.

It's pretty hard to flag a mod that just rejects all your flags and bans you network wide any time you ask them to stop actively insulting your entire character.
You know, that thing that I just shrug and get over.
@ArtOfCode It's been quite some time, I wouldn't want to stir it up. I don't like intruding into other people's domain and telling them to change to suit my mood.
Look, y'all are a stubborn bunch; arguing with you like this never did anything. But the next time someone gets flagged for joking and I handle it, I'm gonna stop being lenient.
@Sie No, I don't. But you have no proof that that's what's happening here; I know it's an uncommon occurrence, and I have little doubt that if I asked for the logs of who flagged things here, they'd show nothing of the sort.
The rule of thumb that I go by in this chat and in life is, anything that's a personal insult to someone is far worse than any "swear" word you could say in other context.
Jest is very sensitive to context, yes, which I feel is what a lot of people jumping in to respond to flags might not immediately see or care about and that causes most of the frustrations of the last discussion.
A situation could be mentally set up to where things are associated "meanly" but it appears totally mundane. Lets say someone is asking about their yellow shirt, and lets say someone makes a poop joke involving corn... Now some malicious party offers the insult, "Like always, your shirt looks like corn"
I don't get alerted to flags and sometimes I really don't understand why people get flagged for stuff that seems entirely in the spirit of this community and isn't meant to hurt anyone.
@MattJensJensen Well then again. It depends on the degree. I mean some degrees are inevitably going to be easier or harder. It also depends on the person and what they are or are not good at.
