code blocks inherently are not as good as explaining the concept. But it's nice to include them sometimes because you can explain through example better. However, you've added code that 1) creates a tool and 2) shows how harvestLevel interacts with blocktypes when the original question was asking how to make a tool use experience.
I'm definitely a fan of learning by experience so I'm not at all opposed to the blocks since they are prefaced with what they are for (mostly) but as I and Jimmy have already pointed out, they aren't completely relevant to answering the crux of the question.
@PythonInProgress Is this the actual solution working code?
public boolean onBlockStartBreak(ItemStack itemstack, int X, int Y, int Z, EntityPlayer player) { entityplayermp.addExperienceLevel(-1) return false; }
My big concern with that method is you are transferring significantly more data than needed which is a waste of bandwidth which is a REALLY valuable resource depending on the size of your files and your target audience
If I hit the main "page" and never look at the rest, I downloaded a ton of HTML I never needed
Get as much into a single request as it makes sense make sure you've got settings right so that the server pulls down all resources the file needs (CSS, JS, images, etc.) in a single request so that it doesn't take multiple requests to load a single page.
If you've got a ton of pages / images there is NO WAY I'm waiting to download your 50MB web page
I would say you probably don't need to worry too much regardless, but the bigger issue is likely going to be the number of concurrent requests which can be handled by more hardware
(or better hosting, in a hosted scenario)
which their solution would be more / dedicated hardware
I haven't looked into any but even if you found something I'd take it with a grain of salt. As you said yourself... yours is a game so it doesn't necessarily have to comply with whats normal out there
I think the big thing is having experience in a variety of languages with small examples of things you did, and then complete bigger things in the language of your choice
They say the number one way to get a job is just to make games
@Dave You mean just a comparison between C++ and C#, right? Because world of phones is slowly being conquered by Java. Not sure what is the percentage, but iOS apps use Objective-C. I guess Windows Mobile is dominated by C#, but who cares :)
Hello i followed a tutorial on how to make a top down shooter, the code makes so that my character rotates against my mouse and i can move forward and backwards using W and S. However i also want to be able to move right and left using A and D im not good when it comes to code in javascript nor u...
@ToddersLegrande I dreamed that I will finally see the Sun again and the dream came true. After 2 weeks of heavy smog, the view was spectacular. I went outside and seriously enjoyed it. It was like a scene from some postapocalyptic game. Makes me wanna play Fallout again.
@Byte56 I heard that's how you can have a lucid dream. Dream about a mirror and realize it is a mirror. Than you can take over the dream and do whatever you want :)
@Almo It doesn't have one, I don't think, but kaleidoscopeapp.com is a good Mac tool. It is, however, not free. You can also look at SourceGear's DiffMerge program, which is: sourcegear.com/diffmerge
