@Randal'Thor hasn't been touched in months, and someone was FORCIBLY prevented from deleting the answer
now someone is whining about the answer again
the same someone who didn't let it stay deleted in the first place.
01:57
Because we're not supposed to delete valuable content. Which people seem to have a hard time grasping about SE.
funny how arbitrary "valuable content" is though
I don't find upvotes funny really.
so those up votes must mean the entire answer is valuable, including the parts you don't like.
If it wasn't for multiple users repeatedly complaining about exactly those parts and that compared to their entire irrelevance for the actual answer one might indeed be compelled to think so.
multiple users who none the less didn't even bother to down vote it?
I'm pretty sure the be nice policy applies to snide remarks in chat by a mod as well
2
02:06
@Passerby Apparently. Now if only they would keep their mouths shut on meta and in comments.
@Passerby I guess so. It should hold for mods as much as for any other users.
Anyway, the answer's agenda (unfortunately) failed. So there's that. ;-)
re your rollback.you had This discussion of course also would have the potential for setting a precedent for other less tightly coupled movie franchises to warrant tags that are used on each and every question. Something to bear in mind.) in the original post, so no, not an afterthought
Indeed, as an addition to the question and somewhat of a consideration to influence the discussion of that matter. But not as a downright offer to broaden the question in this regard right away (or not significantly enough for a title adapatation). However, I see that it has become somewhat of a general policy now, but hasn't been proposed as such in the question itself.

Q: ID this movie about rebels fighting high tech God

ShotaAround 3 years ago, I watched this movie. This is an old style movies. It was in English and had long duration (2 hours and more). Unfortunately I only remember the mid to near ending plot. Q: How did the Planet Earth II crew film animals without disturbing them?

David GrinbergPlanet earth II has some incredible footage. @AnkitSharma Awww. I'm sorry. I have been really busy. I'm here now :)
It appears that I missed some sort of drama that I know nothing about, which is good ;)

Ana BanIn The Net (1995), would anybody know where I could obtain (purchase or get in touch with author/owner) the sound file used in the movie's incoming message sound on CyberChat, as in when cyberbob replies at 58:30-31?

@AnkitSharma I'm sorry to ditch you again, but, I have had a long day and I'm going to bed. I'm sorry :'(
@steelerfan No worries, good night, take care.

@Passerby I don't think you should delete the answer just because off-topic political commentary got removed from it. It's a useful and interesting answer, and the fact that it shouldn't be your political soapbox doesn't change that.
@JustMike Hello o/
Hello @ank
oops..
@JustMike ooops for ???
@Passerby Absolutely, and that's something this room needs to be reminded of more. But that still doesn't change the fact that answers here aren't political soapboxes :-) If you want to write about that stuff, by all means compose a question about the connection between HG and real-world politics and self-answer it. (That would be on-topic, right?)
@Randal'Thor ......
11:36
Oh sorry, I tried to tag you in my message, but I sent it pre-maturely.
@JustMike still there is no one else with name started with ank here, so only I got that ping
@AnkitSharma What's to agree or disagree with? If a question is off-topic here, and a mod from another site tells you it'd be on-topic and welcome there, then ... case closed, surely?
(Unless you reckon you know SFF's scope better than I do, of course.)
@Randal'Thor Because the problem if it's actually off-topic isn't entirely clear. What's to misunderstand in the message I posted on the matter?
We don't usually migrate "too broad", "unclear what you're asking" or "primarily opinion-based" questions either.
@NapoleonWilson Sure: if a question has reopen votes on it or there's a chance it might be acceptable here, then I wouldn't flag it for migration.
@Randal'Thor See.
11:41
@Randal'Thor No I don't. I always got confused between those complicated rules like talking animal, spy-fi vs nolan trilogy and one film can change teh genre of entire franchise. But for this case question is on hold. Everything is not ended yet, it can improve too.
@Randal'Thor not agreed with "this room" part. And doesn't sound much friendly either
Which is why I haven't flagged this question yet. It has 2 reopen votes, and I think it does satisfy this site's criteria for ID questions.
@AnkitSharma Hmm ... so would things be different if the question was a bit older and therefore "closed" instead of "on hold"?
@Randal'Thor hold or close or "****" . It's off topic due to lack of information rather then off topic for site
Also, apparently there will be a new Batman lego film.
Yeah, there was a trailer for it some time ago.
@b_jonas I loved all those trailer
11:47
@AnkitSharma It's closed as off-topic on this site, but would be fine on another site. End of story, surely?
Aug 27 '15 at 15:42, by Shog9
Requirements for migration:
1. OT for source
2. OnT for dest
3. Well-written
I never like lego film but lego batman trailer look exciting
@Randal'Thor What story? What's hard to get in the fact that it's not really "off-topic".
@NapoleonWilson Neither are all those questions that get migrated from ELU to ELL every day. They're about the English language and its usage; they just don't meet ELU's quality standards.
I really cannot see why you consider this a useful distinction.
12:08
@AnkitSharma Yeah, I'm looking forward to it. Micheal Cera as Robin is genius casting.
@DrRDizzle I have zero expectation when I hear about the announcement but teh trailers are quite engaging
@AnkitSharma I'm probably looking forward to it more than I've looked forward to any DC film since Man of Steel.
@DrRDizzle My priority are different but I am surely looking forward to it
Anyway which robin is it? Dick Grayson?
Wikipedia say Dick Grayson
If I am not wrong then he didn't adopted Dick in comics but adopted Tim Drake
I doubt that The Lego Batman Movie will be accurate to the comics.
I liked how they made fun of DCEU inside a WB film, specially the part when he had conversation with joker
what is this now :
12:31
@AnkitSharma Yeah, no.
Fixed.

Q: What does the first scene means?

Ankit SharmaFantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, start with a dark scene with some wizards, I was unable to setup a connection between this scene and the rest of the film. @MovieReel Should this really be tagged ?
Doesn't seem to be related to the Harry Potter films at all.

@MovieReel Answered, with proof.
13:14
So Gellert Grindelwald is the necromancer of Dol Guldur?
Didn't we actually get a short glimpse of him in one of the Deathly Hallows films? Since he stole the Elder Wand at some point?
This film is a prequel in every sense
It seems more in somewhat of a sense.
I remember nearly nothing from last 4 films, not even seen them fully
@DrRDizzle ofcourse
@AnkitSharma I thought that I had talked about that Madhouse movie with you not too long ago ;)
13:26
I just recently saw The Half-Blood Prince on TV.
And I think also The Goblet of Fire.
@steelerfan Ohhh, didn't remember sorry
@NapoleonWilson Yes.
@NapoleonWilson that's 4th one, I remember first 4 quite well
@MovieReel why the DV O.o
I remember them all quite well, since I've seen them quite often. I like those films very much.
@AnkitSharma Don't worry with so fast answers that thing will shortly be showered in HNQ votes.
@AnkitSharma Awww. Here you go... +1 for you and Dizzle :)
13:30
3rd one was bit bleh, 1,2,4 were good . Rest 4 were too slow to engage me
(Or alternatively, pissed people who were shocked from all the spoilers because they didn't stop reading as soon as they realized it's about a film they haven't seen.) ;-)
@NapoleonWilson hmmmm
@steelerfan Thanks for compensation :D, even I can't upvote Dizzle yet :D
@AnkitSharma ¬_¬
@steelerfan Thanks!
@DrRDizzle 40 daily vote are not enough for me, not my fault
user116211
Did you catch Gotham @ankit?
13:36
You guys are welcome :)
@AnkitSharma Wow, I've never hit the vote limit.
@NapoleonWilson we already have at-least 3 FB HNQ, I don't know if we have any space left :D
@MAFIA36790 not yet, last week was so boring that I lost all interest now
@DrRDizzle I almost hit that every weekday
Is there a limit of how many HNQ one site can have?
user116211
@AnkitSharma as I said, it was really disappointing; but Barnes is now a monster; I'll check it tonight if I can complete my works before it.
@steelerfan How is you, honey bee?
I ahve not seen more then 4 from M&TV
@MAFIA36790 what work?
user116211
13:38
@AnkitSharma studies.
user116211
I didn't like Poison Ivy.
I liked how she introduced in start but then she became bore
@NapoleonWilson Awww. I'm fine. How are you?
@steelerfan Largely fine, too.
user116211
13:42
I'm expecting some actions from Court of Owl.
@MAFIA36790 I have lost faith now.
Squirrels >>>>>>>> Honeybees
user116211
Did you notice Jim Gordon's dad?
@AnkitSharma Of course, but honey bees are still cool.
user116211
I mean the family ring he wore? He might be the boss of the Court of Owls and that would be an exciting turn if he returns.
@NapoleonWilson but they attack us
@MAFIA36790 Yeah I noticed that
I am more excited to see the 4way corssover from arrowverse and wanted to see Mon-el in suitup
13:45
Honey bees don't attack. They are friendly and docile. It's wasps/yellow jackets/hornets that attack.
@AnkitSharma Indeed.
user116211
@AnkitSharma With that hope, I'll be catching Gotham :|
@steelerfan And aggressive Africanized bees.
@steelerfan there you are wrong
@steelerfan I got stung two or three times.
user116211
13:46
@AnkitSharma The comic suit is dull.
@MAFIA36790 They are not following comics book costume much
They ruined Gaurdian costume
user116211
@AnkitSharma that's true too.
@AnkitSharma Really? A honeybee won't go after you like a wasp...at least, that's what I was always told. Maybeyou guys have honey bees with attitudes over there ;)
user116211
@AnkitSharma Black and White Captain America without the American symbol; Olsen is disappointing throughout this season so far.
I don't know why this answer didn't got much vote. He did good work
13:48
Guardian Shield?
user116211
@NapoleonWilson yes.
@AnkitSharma It has quite some votes, though. 6's pretty high.
@MAFIA36790 Wut? The real Guardian Shield?
@NapoleonWilson I expected more, I like how he provided all of them with proof and did well research
Wait. We have a Guardian Shield in Oregon!
@steelerfan Yeah, and apparently he's on TV now, too.
@AnkitSharma Oh, well, that's just Guardian it seems.
<yawn>
Cool thingies that guy has in his suitcase. So it's kind of those TARDIS bags Hermione brought to the camping trip, I guess?
@NapoleonWilson He is? Well, I know that he's in Canby now and that he has 2 sidekicks. Good Lord ;)
@steelerfan What, really?
13:54
Guardian from sueprgirl we were talking about ^^
He is lame in compare to comics
user116211
Ah! So, Napoleon meant real-life; my bad; I never thought there exists real-life vigilante.
Jericho and Sanctuary? That's boss names!
@NapoleonWilson He have a small jungle inside his suitcase
But what on earth happens in Canby? A beaver stuck on a tree?
@NapoleonWilson Yes...really. At least that's what that article says and one of the girls at my caree's house said as much a few months ago. Apparently her and her friends saw him and his sidekicks at Oktoberfest.
@NapoleonWilson Absolutely nothing happens in Canby. It's a small town with zero excitement.
13:58
@steelerfan so police doing nothing to them? I mean police are always suppose to be villain when we talk about sueprhero
@steelerfan So what's it need 3 (three!) superheroes for?
@steelerfan It have 3 superhero , what else you want? Villain with plasma guns?
Well, if comics are to be believed, once you have superheroes, the crazy mad supervillains will just come by themselves.
So in 3 years Canby will be the new Gotham, where weird people blow up shit on a daily basis.
@AnkitSharma Yes. Canby police are villains. I have received several tickets there. It's because they have nothing better to do in that town than watch for speeding ;)
As expected it's in HNQ
@steelerfan ROFL
14:01
@NapoleonWilson Because...Guardian shield was originally in Beaverton and he couldn't afford the rent, so he moved. (Yes, there's an actual town named Beaverton in Oregon) ;)
@steelerfan I know there is. Didn't we actually drive through it?
@steelerfan too weird town name
@NapoleonWilson Beaverton? No. I might have shown you a sign or something when we were on I-5, but, I had to take you to the airport, which was in the other direction.
@steelerfan He could probably use a little help from Squirrel Girl or the Night Nurse.
@steelerfan I see. I also saw it on the map, though, I think.
@NapoleonWilson Pfft! Squirrel girl and night nurse have better things to do than hang out with Guardian Shield ;)
14:06
Okay then.
Better bring Squirrel Nurse
user image
2
And go for miami rather then Beaverton
Awwwwwwww! Hehehe!
@AnkitSharma OMFG!!! HAHAHA!!! FRIGGING AWESOME!!!
Aren't those thingies just amazing!
I gotta get out of here.
14:08
@steelerfan Have fun!
@NapoleonWilson Yes!!!
Are you going to be around in a few minutes @NapoleonWilson? I need to speak with you.
@steelerfan Oh, probably not. I have to hold an excercise in about 20 minutes. So I'll be out for at least 2 hours from now. Make that 3 if you need a phone call. Sorry. :'(
Time to leave for home
@NapoleonWilson Yeah, I do need a phone call. It's nothing that I want to discuss over email. Uhm, I will have to see when I will be around later. I will figure it out.
@steelerfan I could probably call you around 9 or 9:30 PST, though.
@steelerfan Ruh-roh?
14:12
@NapoleonWilson No. Probably not. I will just call you when I can.
@NapoleonWilson Don't worry. I just wanted to ask you something. Umh...I don't know, maybe I misinterpreted something or maybe I'm just a complete jerk. Who knows. Anyways, don't worry. I will talk with you later.
I stopped by at theater today, which was showing Dr. Strange and FB at that time. But I couldn't decide which one to watch. So I left and will watch later.
So instead of watching one of the two didn't watch any?
14:19
none
I am kinda bored with that magical universe established in HP franchise.
Well, then watch the magical universe established in MCU.
And I was not sure if I need to watch any MCU movie in order to understand Dr. Strange.
you do not
Probably not, not at all actually. It's one of the most self-contained MCU films, compared to e.g. Civil War, which is basically Avengers 3.
14:22
I don't know who here told me that it has some references to Captain America.
Um, it doesn not, none at all.
Well, these were the reasons I didn't watch any.
There is a throwaway line that might be referring to something from Civil War, but that's a single line with zero bearing on anything, not even on the line directly spoken afterwards.
@NapoleonWilson Kinda easter eggs
@AbhishekAggrawal So you don't actually really want to watch any of the two in the first place?
Makes a bit more sense. At first it sounded like you wanted to watch both but couldn't decide and thus just watched none. ;-)
14:25
@NapoleonWilson Hmm. yeah a little bit.
Anyway, bye.
ok bye
^ That wasn't for you.
A Question:
Why doesn't M&TV have a review blog like SFF? After all, it's totally dedicated to movies.
@AbhishekAggrawal We do, it's called screennerds.blogspot.co.uk ;P
@DrRDizzle Frankly, I was going to say that as well, but waited for you to say. :P
14:41
@AbhishekAggrawal Without trying to rock the boat or stir the boat, AFAIK there isn't as large a community here on Movies.SE as there is on SciFi.SE, or at least not as active a community (best demonstrated by The Screening Room being inhabited by the same 4-5 people day in, day out). If there is no one there to write for the blog... why have a blog at all?
@AbhishekAggrawal there was one scene which is considered to be a reference but not a bog deal, No need ot watch any other marvel film for it
@AbhishekAggrawal Watch Arrival then
user116211
What would the purpose of the blog be if it existed?
@AnkitSharma It's not screening here.
k
@AbhishekAggrawal SE used to give blog to graduate site but then they discontinued, Now SFF moved there log to non SE site. If we want a bog then we can't get anything from SE team but can make unofficial one if needed
You can propose the idea in meta
@AnkitSharma ok
14:45
@MAFIA36790 check SFF blog for reference
Anyway, I don't know where but I read a goof, funny and strange one, about The Wolverine, that said
> Why was Wolverine's pant intact during the nuclear blast while his skin got burned.
Because film is PG13
Should this be a goof?
It is self-explained point.
@AnkitSharma good
@AnkitSharma Yeah. I know. But why listing it as a goof?
14:48
I remember one parody film where Hulk's pant ripped off and even iron man suit broke and he was nude inside
@AbhishekAggrawal because it is a goof in commonsense point of view
@AnkitSharma I think I watched it too.
It had some fairytale princess too in main lead
@AnkitSharma
Disaster Movie is a 2008 American spoof comedy film written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer, and stars Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Gary "G Thang" Johnson, Crista Flanagan, Ike Barinholtz, Carmen Electra, Tony Cox, and Kim Kardashian in her feature film acting debut. The film was heavily panned by critics and audience alike for its forced humor, excessive references and poor directing. The movie received six nominations for the 29th Golden Raspberry Awards. It received a 1% score on review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes and is considered by some to be one of the worst films...
Yeah that one
But I haven't seen it more then 15 minutes
oh
I can understand. That was a very bad one.
O O O oh dizzle,
Do do do do dr dizzle.
It seems like two votes in favor of American Beauty and none against.
15:02
Sorry, is no one going to acknowledge the little song @AbhishekAggrawal just wrote about me?
2
Are we just ignoring that?
@DrRDizzle I am shocked watching White Christmas
@AbhishekAggrawal agreed. I like parody but that one was bleh
@DrRDizzle I wrote that in the tone of a popular song.
@DrRDizzle Did you watch American Beauty?
13 mins ago, by Abhishek Aggrawal
It seems like two votes in favor of American Beauty and none against.
@AnkitSharma Huh?
@AbhishekAggrawal I've never seen it. Is that the Kevin Spacey film?
@DrRDizzle Yes
@AnkitSharma News channels are showing crap about Sonam Gupta.
15:17
@AbhishekAggrawal lol
Kon hai ye Sonam Gupta?
WTF.
@AbhishekAggrawal Watch it! It's a great movie!
@AnkitSharma Your Fantastic Beasts question made HNQ! Woohoo!
@steelerfan I will later. Right now, I have some stuff to finish.
15:33
@AbhishekAggrawal Okay. How are you feeling? Last I heard you were sick. Are you feeling any better?
@steelerfan Yeah. I am better now.
How you've been?
@AbhishekAggrawal Phew. I have had a stressful week, but, I am somewhat better now. Glad you are feeling better :)
good
I fast-forwarded American Beauty, it seems like a good movie
It's a great movie! I believe that Kevin Spacey won the academy award for it.
Yeah. It has more.
We had and will have, as it seems, more entries in HP ToW than anyone.
15:44
@steelerfan 2 of them made it out of 3
@AnkitSharma Yay! I figured that the ToW challenge for this would be popular.
@steelerfan I might win but competitive question is also in HNQ both are having similar score
@AnkitSharma I would totally compete with you, I just have zero desire to see that movie and I am just not a HP person :(
I thought you were not too.
15:49
@DrRDizzle White Christmas episode was good but ending part was bit cruel to main characters
@AbhishekAggrawal I am still not into HPverse but that can't stop me from participating
As Napoleon would say...I never consciously watched the Harry Potter movies when I actually did watch them ;)
I watched the first 3 with my nephew, but, I didn't really pay attention and I admittedly fell in and out of sleep while "watching" them ;)

user2727195somewhere in early 90's, it's a tv show that used to air in my country (possibly American) This guy had a water plane something similar to this. mod flagging mod of same site on a chat, will be lots of fun
I'm outta here. See you guys.
16:16
@steelerfan Awww, just when I arrive. :'(
Admit it, that's intentional! :'(
@NapoleonWilson Oh, God. I'm sorry. It's not intentional. I promise.
@steelerfan Okay.
@NapoleonWilson Are you home yet?
@steelerfan No, but shortly. But I'm available for calls if that's what you want to know. ;-)
@NapoleonWilson Oh, I don't want to call you while you're at work.
16:21
@steelerfan Don't worry, I'm alone here and going home shortly. You've called me a million times at work already.
@steelerfan bye
@NapoleonWilson I didn't know it was a sarcasm ;-)
Have you guys seen Bad Lip Reading videos ?
16:42
@AbhishekAggrawal Well, because it wasn't.
@AnkitSharma naa
where'd you find them?

They make parody video by wrong lip reading

Why does the review queue have close votes for questions from 4+ years ago which were answered and accepted, and have positive scores?
They all have story-ident in common. Is someone waging a personal war against old questions which have clearly been accepted by the community for years?
Or, is the queue just feeding me old and forgotten close votes, because I've never been to it before?
@JackBNimble Because age and answers don't protect from closing?
@JackBNimble No, people probably take up their duty of cleaning up old bad posts that slipped through the cracks.

Q: Maintaining, improving and cleaning up identification questions

Napoleon WilsonRecently the community has decided to still try it further with identification questions on the site. So they remain on-topic for now and we'll see how that pans out in the future. So what to make of this now? However, the problems they pose for the site, as adressed in that linked discussion a...

Q: Looking for a movie about a lot of woman clones with mini skirts

SimbaThere were group of women working in a fastfood restaurant with sexy clothes. They're all look alike. They were probably clones.They were Japanese. They slept in a room that looks like a prison. They were probably slaves. One of them found a mini TV. Another one had sex with a man and watched by ...

@AnkitSharma Sorry, extremely busy at work ATM. But at least I wasn't needed. ;)
@AnkitSharma Nah, it won't be anytime soon, I'm not really in the mood to see Fantastic Beasts. I'm embarrassed I got that far, really; I read the books, but I'm not a big fan of the movies (though the last 3-4 were OKish.)
@Walt Question are coming from HP too this days
@AnkitSharma Yeah, that's always fun.
Maybe you can score more now ;)
Anyway is it just me who think Cloud Atlas was not that bad
18:52
@AnkitSharma Again, I barely have a minute to spare and can't be around for long. :( But I'll gladly pick up whatever's left
@AnkitSharma If we're the only ones here? Yep. :P
Well, I liked it sufficiently enough, I guess. I just thought the cross-acting went a little too overboard at times. But that weird future pidgin language was cool.
Hugo Weaving in drag or pseudo-Koreans that look like wax figures weren't really necessary, though.
@NapoleonWilson Not ashamed to admit I didn't watch it all
I think it needed to be more clear and that waitress story was unnecessary
@NapoleonWilson wow, I almost said the same ^^
18:56
What I fear most, though, is that the thing will get HNQ with so fast an answer and so high votes.
@NapoleonWilson Doubt it, quickly approved single-answer stuff is not HNQ material
Throw some harry potter and fantasy beast stuff and there will be no space for it ;)
@Walt Fast answered and (sufficiently) good IDs often are, though, even if there's just one answer.
@NapoleonWilson "weren't really necessary" You're being very, very polite there
But still cloud atlas had potential to be a good film
18:59
But of course it was required for what they tried to achieve. It was necessary to keep the actors.

Q: Are the stories connected by more than just marginal references?

Napoleon WilsonThe Cloud Atlas presents us with 6 seemingly different storylines across centuries of human history: a personal adventure ultimately ending in a statement against slavery. a personal tragedy about individual achievement. a straight-to-the-point economic conspiracy story. a personal adventure ab...
