Q: Advantageous movie MPAA rating

still_dreaming_1This movie is not rated by the MPAA. There is no way to know for sure what a movie would get rated had it received an MPAA rating. @AnkitSharma There is going to be a new series of Annebelle, like The Conjuring.
Annabelle is a 2014 American supernatural horror film directed by John R. Leonetti, produced by James Wan, and written by Gary Dauberman. It is the first entry in the Annabelle film series and serves as a prequel/spin-off to The Conjuring film series. The film was inspired by a story of a doll named Annabelle told by Ed and Lorraine Warren. The film stars Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, and Alfre Woodard. The film was released worldwide on October 3, 2014. Annabelle premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, United States, on September 29, 2014. The film received mixed reviews...

@AnkitSharma Yes, I'm 19; but these sort of thoughts are far from thinking ;)

@MAFIA36790 The thing Rocky gets him at the start of the film. I was proper like 0_o

user116211
It was funny; Apollo was stunned seeing that; Paulie thought it loves him ;P

@MAFIA36790 Do you see what I mean when I said that Rocky (the character) completely changes between Rocky II and Rocky III by the way?

user116211
Frankly, I could only see the first few scenes prior to the Apollo vs Drago fight; and then that damn storm hit my place; but fortunately could catch Rocky vs Drago fight... his speech was excellent talking implicitly of the Cold war; even the Politburo gave a standing applause!

The idea that Rocky single-handedly stops the Cold War makes Rocky IV one of the strangest movies ever made, IMO.

8:08 AM
@MAFIA36790 Oh...you missed so much in between!

user116211
@DrRDizzle From being irresponsible brat to being responsible and more respectable to his profession?

user116211
@steelerfan yep :( But at-least I got to see the important match.

Well, he also becomes wealthy and a celebrity.

user116211
@DrRDizzle hmm, maybe.

From being a humble, down to Earth, recognisable person to being a broad cliche.

user116211
8:11 AM
@steelerfan Yeh; he proved the first fight between Apollo was not by fluke; he had the talent!! And he showed how to tame it.

Oh, that's my big issue with Rocky IV actually. Rocky has him draw because he knows how to take a punch; Rocky II has him win the fight because he has a tactic against Apollo; Rocky III has him learn proper boxing techniques to beat Clubber Lang.
In Rocky IV, he just tries harder.

user116211
@DrRDizzle yeh; he concluded during the fight Drago was not a machine, while the latter concluded Rocky was not man; he was like iron - I liked that very much!

user116211
Also, it was amazing to watch how the Soviet audience cheering evolved from boo to Rocky! Rocky! .

The great thing about Rocky is he has heart. Bottom line.

I thought all that was cheesy as balls.

user116211
8:16 AM
@DrRDizzle O.o

user116211
@steelerfan yeh!

The first two films work because of the grimy reality they have. The third works because of the strength of the main conflict and the characters.
The fourth just has no bearing in reality.

la la la la la la.......

Wait. Balls are cheesy?

user116211
@steelerfan God knows ;P

8:18 AM
@steelerfan Only if you don't wash well enough.

user116211
@DrRDizzle C'mon; it's not beyond the reality ;/

@MAFIA36790 It's so far out of what the Rocky films had established their reality to be that it ceases to make any kind of sense.

Hehehe!

user116211
@DrRDizzle okay, maybe ;/

Paulie gets a robot. Drago can punch harder than is physically possible. Rocky ends the Cold War by boxing real good.

user116211
8:20 AM
@DrRDizzle Drago was on steroids; remember it. Rocky never took any such thing; his was natural.

@MAFIA36790 You're not truly a member of this chatroom until you've had an argument with Dizzle over awesome films that he doesn't like ;)

Well, I have to differ now, sorry :(

@MAFIA36790 Try the first one, it still looks amazing and otherworldly.
@steelerfan Yes, when on a tablet, links to Wikipedia are also mobile links.

@NapoleonWilson So should I stop thinking it being anywhere near new one based on stupidity

@steelerfan Well, rewrite it back if you don't agree with the edits. ;-)
@AnkitSharma Well, it's still about a guy getting sucked into a computer.

But it plays a little more with computer analogies and looks more otherworldly like actually being set in a computer.
@AnkitSharma Yeah.

@NapoleonWilson Tron legacy was just cool looking no depth, poor acted hollow film to me. I hope old one is better then that

Has anyone here got any experience actually trying to make a film, a short, etc?
More importantly, does anyone have any experience with creating storyboards, or translating storyboards into film?

11:11 AM
OK, another approach - does Movies.SE accept questions about how to make movies?

@DrRDizzle no
Try video.stackexchange.com but I don't know what they accept and upto what level

So a question like "What are storyboards used for, and how are action scenes often storyboarded?" wouldn't be on-topic?

yes
I suppose

I'll await further input - I don't want to ask a question that's going to be immediately closed as off-topic.
@AnkitSharma I had a look, but I think I'd be barking up the wrong tree.

Wording matters a lot
If you ask "how should i achieve this effect for my film" - off topic
If you ask "how this effect is achieved" - on topic

11:23 AM
I'll have to think about it.
I can't imagine getting the kind of answer I'm looking for either way, to be honest.

@DrRDizzle Catija has.
@DrRDizzle Difficult question. If anything, then rather of the form of how existing movies are made.
As usual it comes down to proper wording of the question.
@DrRDizzle This sounds quite valid, though. You are asking how existing movies are made. If anything it could be called out as "too broad" maybe.

@AJ Thanks! :-D I just hit the Close Votes review queue with a boom, completing 12 reviews one after another.
But I may offer a bounty shortly, which will put me back below 3k again for a bit.
Ha! I can now mark my own "off-topic" close flags as helpful by VTCing those questions myself!

@NapoleonWilson That's a fair point. I'll have to ask @Catija if we're ever on at the same time.

@NapoleonWilson Have you any idea why I can't start a mere 50-point bounty on this question? There hasn't been any bounty on it before. Is it because I posted an answer myself, or what?

@Randal'Thor Yes.
> To avoid overly promotional bounties, if you are offering a bounty on a question that you have already posted an answer to, your minimum spend is 100 reputation (not 50).

Thanks. Didn't know about that rule.
I would be interested in an answer from someone who's actually seen the show rather than just read its Wikipedia article, but if nobody posts one, it'll mean a whole 100 rep vanishing into the ether.

I usually start at 100 anyway, because it's a cooler number. But I also can afford to do so.
@Randal'Thor Well, that's the risk that bounties always go with.

11:57 AM
@NapoleonWilson Not always. I think most of the bounties I've offered have been of the "reward existing answer" variety.

@Randal'Thor Sure. But the ones that are offered to lure in new answers.

@NapoleonWilson Indeed. I'd be giving up a privilege even with a 50-point bounty, but at least then it would take me less time to regain it.

12:35 PM
@Randal'Thor weird
@DrRDizzle Nobby and olver_c worked in same field too but they don't come in chat this days

Ah well.

Why oliver and @Catija didn't answered this question meta.movies.stackexchange.com/questions/174/…

@AnkitSharma Let alone to the site?

4 mins ago, by Ankit Sharma

@AnkitSharma Catija probably doesn't know about it. I never knew that Oliver_C was from the industry, too, though.
I thought he was just a very knowledgable user.

12:43 PM
@NapoleonWilson I am sure he mentioned it in chat
And Nobby didn't came from year as per his profile
I am sure we had more professionals too but they didn't answered that meta post
Is it acceptable to superping oliver here
@wade-watt hello o/

hi

I assume you came in this chatroom for the first time
welcome here

@AnkitSharma You can check that - no need to assume ;-)

yeah , first time :) thanks

@AnkitSharma Should be used for serious matters only actually.

12:51 PM
@NapoleonWilson hmmmm

@NapoleonWilson Napoleon, you're so responsible!
(on the things that don't really matter at all)

@NapoleonWilson She knows about it

Q: Are there any professional actors, producers, directors in here?

phwdI think it would be great to identify the users who take part in movies professionally and may be able to provide great insight to how this site should work. If possible could you list your details in an answer below? For example Name - optional Occupation - actors/producers/directors/stag...

@Randal'Thor I could explain to you a little more in which way it matters, but I won't.
@AnkitSharma Hmm, then she could answer it. But maybe she doesn't understand herself as sufficiently professional anymore. She's not working in film anymore now.

Can I use chat room for ask this type question ? For example
(@NapoleonWilson @AnkitSharma what is yours favourite Sci-Fiction movie ?) like this ?
Just I wonder

@wade-watt Sure, that's perfectly fine to ask in chat. You can talk about pretty much everythig here.

12:55 PM
@wade-watt It's fine to ask it here

Ok , thanks for information , I already asked the question :) If you have time , its great to know your favourite Sci-Fiction Movies

@wade-watt Yes, chat is very informal - pretty much anything goes. (For science fiction, there's also another, larger and busier, chatroom associated with the Science Fiction & Fantasy site.)

Hmm, that's really hard to answer. I don't really like to pin down an exact movie as that single favourite ever, since I like so much stuff.
I'm quite a Star Wars fan, but I'm not sure it's really my favourite.
Recently, I also liked Interstellar very much!
Then there are classics like 2001: A Space Oddysey or Blade Runner. I wouldn't call them my favourites either, but they're definitely interesting.

@wade-watt I don't know which one I keep at first place but I can list few in random order - Gravity, predestination, coherence
