@Charlieface There are a few instances I can think of, especially in high throughput systems that ingest a lot of data and then on the opposite end where there are really poor systems which don't have much IO available to them.
But yeah, it really was amazing considering it was built for DOS, on standard 640x480 VGA cards, and there wasn't even DirectX or OpenGL available. They had to literally write the whole thing from scratch.
