I was pondering this Twitter poll - of no interest to me - I've never tweeted anything, "liked" anything on Facebook (or whatever it's called now), posted anything to Snapchat or Instagram - I'm not really a social media person -this is my primary "social" outlet - they appear to me to be nothing but timesinks and a way for teenagers to waste the best years of their lives...
but anyway (Jesus, I'm turning into an old curmudgeon), back to the poll! What sort of society/world are we living in/constructing when one man has almost 1/4 of a trillion dollars and there are people out there who are dying of starvation and readily curable diseases?
Oh, I do dip in and out of the Dublin Linux Community on Telegram from time to time...
I dislike social media as well, but I don't know any alternative how to reach a wide audience easily. How much of a timesink it is depends on your willpower.
It can range from fire and forget to doomscrolling for hours.
I'm so glad to have ditched Twitter once Elon "I can solve world hunger with $5 Billion" Musk said he was taking it private. Luckily my company sqlserverscience.com doesn't rely on Social Media at all.
idk if snopes is trustworthy or not, but there do seem to be multiple reports he donated $5.75B to charity in November 2022. May or may not be related I suppose.
@Zikato The reason I frequent this forum is that there is more "wheat than chaff" - I'm still learning from posts here - and obviously on the main site! So, it's still a net positive for me. As long as that remains the case, I'll hang around...
It's winter where Paul White lives, he probably won't come out of hibernation until Christmas time. You guys might as well settle in here, start learning the language...
(Also if we continue this discussion we should probably do it in TNB, instead of breaking in through someone's ceiling and then having a long chat in their living room while everyone stares at us like ghosts)
