A: Are unfixable spatial index corruptions considered normal?

Martin SmithI could not immediately reproduce this on 2014 - 12.0.4213.0 but do see it on SQL Server 2016 (CTP3.0) - 13.0.700.242. On the 2014 build (with no DBCC errors) the plan looks as follows. And on the 2016 build (with DBCC errors reported) like this. The second plan has a single row coming out...

Vote.

Q: Is it appropriate to ask for tips on data architecture here?

randomblinkI'm working on a personal project that will require a database to track religions, gods, mythologies, and sacred texts. I've been struggling with what would be best practices for design and layout of some of the pieces and wondered if this was an appropriate place to ask data architecture questio...

@MDCCL You might like to answer that meta question?

@TomV A 100 bounty has started on this question.
15:30
It's probably terrible, but just letting you know in case you're interested.
Did you post it?
15:54
@billinkc The bounty? No. Just happened to notice the question as I was looking around.
I was trying to imply that if it was terrible, it was probably your question
:D
Ah. I put that spin on it to begin with, then gave you the benefit of the doubt.
Serves me right I guess ;)
Makes more sense now though.

Hey everyone! How are you doing???

I have a small questions related to Postgres and thought it would be appropriate to ask here first to check if it's OK to formulate a formal question or if I should search somewhere else.

Could you guys help me on that?
PostGres is on topic for the site so I don't see why there'd be an issue
Because it is related to file copy and where postgres files are located.
ie. should I create a backup+restore thru postgres command line or could I just move some files from directory X from this source linux to the same directory on another (target) linux
What I want to say it is a postgres question but it also related to file location of the database and things surrounding the subject.
Architecture would seem an appropriate subject area for database questions
ok. thanks!

Some SE areas are very aggressive about what should and what should NOT be posted as questions... so I always check in the chat before posting.
Always appreciated. Worst case, we'd bounce it to a more appropriate site versus sending you glitter bombs

The question is fundamentally about best practices transferring data/databases in a specific RDBMS, so it's certainly on-topic here regardless of the mechanics of the method you have your doubts about.
Nice!
I'm always worried to make a post and in five seconds I have -20 in it and a request to close the question and burn the user on a stake.

@vianna77 this isn't stack overflow (or worse, meta stack overflow). You have to ask a pretty terrible question here to get dog-piled with down-votes.
Ok, or you have to annoy me

how're things going?
Been quite relaxing! Fun Christmas with the kids, didn't drive very far, went to Disney on Ice yesterday
That was actually pretty stressful but the girls had a blast, we rented a suite again so we had ~10 kids grinding popcorn and chicken fingers into carpet :-)
it's memories for the kids which, in turn, tend to change your perspective in the long run, i guess. so you stayed local for christmas?
we went to nc ... and watched my in-laws fight like cats and dogs
i poured a few drams and enjoyed the show
like having front-row seats to a jerry springer episode
@AaronBertrand any insight that you're allowed to share as to when this Plan Explorer Ultimate edition will hit?
18:33
No official timeline yet
@PaulWhite Thanks for the heads up, I planned to answer that, but christmas between my comment and the reply made me kinda forget
@AaronBertrand thanks.
it's not entirely terrible or I wouldn't have commented (or VtC instead) but should be pretty obvious
I just forgot about it, blame it on the holidays and drinks that go with it :)
18:49
@AaronBertrand Unless you run into some underpaid internet volunteers of course
@AaronBertrand but you did drive by outlets, right? :) I saw your twitter rant
Yeah the day after Christmas we went to our favorite Chinese food place, and didn't think about the outlets at all. Once we were in it there was no way around it.
