Hello y'all from Texas

12:30 AM
hey there @JDługosz

Ah, another writing challenge. At least this is more conventional — I can use proper names normally. Challenge is to convey two char’s different motivatins without being too wordy.
@Mithrandir24601 yea, I always say that John Williams’ music always sounds like something else.

Q: What is the correct way to put an image from internet in answers?

VylixI like to put images from google search when I answered a question. I usually just go to the site, get the URL to that image, and pasted it to Stackexchange "Insert Image", which convert it to imgur link. Usually I just leave it at that, but this answer makes me thinking about whether my approac...

I feel this is worth mentioning: We have a new user who answers a question with a really good answer in the form of a linked youtube video. Now, being more experienced, we know that we should explain what the video says in the answer, but evidently the new user who answered it didn't. So instead of politely welcoming them here and mentioning that it's a good idea to edit their answer to explain the contents of the video, they try to delete the answer... WHY?

10:02 AM
cause most people don't have the patience to click on it

grumble

ooooooor you can edit the answer so the new user knows how its done

Don't have the time :P

you have time to complain ;p

Well... I suppose I technically do have the time as I don't have to be in work at the minute :P But I would rather work :P I'm really, really slow at doing things like writing and editing answers (it takes me hours usually, hence I've only ever written a few answers)

10:23 AM
Heyall

@Mithrandir24601 I voted "Looks okay", because the answer itself is already pretty good, but I can't watch videos right now and edit the important info. Good catch to bring that up in chat again, I was sure it would not get deleted.
Good afternoon everyone

@Secespitus Yeah, I don't have to the rep to vote, so am hoping that it won't get deleted as it was a really good find

@Mithrandir24601 Well it's at one "Delete" and one "Looks okay". I think one other "Delete" or 3 other "Recommend Delete" would delete it and one other "Looks okay" should put it out of the queue.

10:41 AM
@Secespitus If it’s a useful resource, consider converting to a comment.

@JDługosz I don't really know what you mean. I can't convert anything to any other thing and I think that the answer @Mithrandir24601 was referring to is a good answer if the OP explains the video a bit. In case it gets deleted I might go back and write a comment under the question myself with the link.

11:00 AM
@Secespitus : Redshirts as natural selection? nice.

@JoeBloggs I imagine a sort of "Sorting Hat"-scenario. "And now we come to the shirt colors - " "Please not red, please not red, everything but red, ..."

@Secespitus GRYFFINDOR!!!!
"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!"

@JoeBloggs Suddenly Hufflepuff doesn't sound too bad anymore.

11:17 AM
@Secespitus Suddenly Slytherin (my old college has snakes and the colour yellow with a bit of green) sounds like a very good house :)

@Mithrandir24601 Slytherin has always been a good option, but now it's even better! :D

11:43 AM
@Secespitus this sounds like the most hilarious crossover.

@JoeBloggs Teenage wizards fighting the Dark Powers - In Space

12:07 PM
@Secespitus "It's no good. Their shields are too strong! Unless their warp core is made from unicorn hair as well, then we could reverse the polarity of the thaumic flow and destroy them with their own photon kedavra!"

I think I might have just lost a few brain cells typing that.

@JoeBloggs Those brain cells were well spent.

@Secespitus Nice staff question. I might put an answer in for that later.

@Bellerophon I would be interested in reading it, your comment is already very good.
Staff = magical temporary battery

If I write it up I might get the rep to reach 5000.
Wow, I haven't answered anything since August 7th.
I need to start answering stuff again.

12:27 PM
@Bellerophon I reckon you should: You've got the makings of an excellent answer there. Staff as a buffer for the mind.
Some interesting mechanical implications though if it's in a game: How does max buffer size/recharge rate work and affect gameplay??

@JoeBloggs If it's only a buffer you would have the same recharge rate, because it depends on your mental stats. Therefore it would take longer if you have a larger buffer. It might also strain you to control a bigger amount of energy. Releasing a bit of the buffer might be like trying to get a cup of water out of a high-pressure tank.
That would explain min stats to control certain items. Interesting.

12:52 PM
@Bellerophon Nice take on the gem stone

1:10 PM
@Secespitus spells for cells?

1:45 PM
@JDługosz I'd say it the other way round - you have cells in the form of staffs that power your spells.

2 hours later…
3:17 PM
@Secespitus What if the enemy is color blind?
@JoeBloggs I thought a chalk board was the “buffer for the mind”.
Anyone see the most recent Orville? The chief medical officer almost said it: “I’m a doctor, not a mechanic.”
Hey, did you know that Muppet Studios continued releasing skits as videos? I loved the original Muppet Show. You must see this Popcorn video with Captions turned on!
Watch with Closed Captioning (CC) turned on!
For example:

"If you have any idea what the Sweedish Chef is saying, then you are waaaaay ahead of me."
And even when the caption writer is not breaking the 4th wall,
I don’t know why I find that sö funny right now.

4:24 PM
@JDługosz Sad lonely caption writer :D
@JDługosz Person1: "Phew, at least I am not a red-shirt" Person2: "Buddy, you might want to get your eyes checked..." Person1 (quiet): "...No... God, please... No...."

4:57 PM
Wish i had my phone on me today, the sun looked l went dull orange, as in it was dull enough that you could look at it directly. The whole sky looked almost like it was sunset all day but the sun was right overhead.

2 hours later…
6:54 PM
« the sun looked l went dull orange» huh?
@Bellerophon «Wish i had my phone on me today» who did it make you want to call?

@JDługosz For a photo.
And cause it could be a sigin of the apocalypse.

7:37 PM
@Bellerophon If you’re wishing, why not a good dSLR and tripod?
What was in the air? Is that the N American fires?
Hungry. Wonder if we have some shrîpéés?
Time-a tü meke-a lönch. Børk Børk Børk!

8:05 PM
@JDługosz I wouldn't be able to easily transport it?
@JDługosz I think sand brought in by hurricane Ophelia.

@Bellerophon Yeah, some people think it was brought all the way from the sahara. It looked amazing though :)

8:41 PM
Yay, I can nearly approve tag wiki edits. What a privilege.

9:05 PM
@Bellerophon oh, you were in the doomed lands?
also beer
I know @James would probably approve

@dot_Sp0T Of beer or doom?

9:33 PM
@Bellerophon Sony α6000 (and its newer successor) is a great compromise. Same sensor form factor as the normal dSLR, but very compact. I have a kit with three lenses etc. in a small go bag.
@Bellerophon Where in the world was your observation?

@JDługosz The North of England.
Should North be capitalised?

@Bellerophon Depends on if you mean in a generic sense or there's a region referred to with that name, like the South Pacific.
Or in my case, “The North Dallas area” is a region on maps.

So probably not in the case above. Although on motorways there are signs marked The North rather than just north.

Anyone else here wear glasses?

9:47 PM
@JDługosz yep

10:01 PM
@Mithrandir24601 I don’t like them. Always getting dirty.

@JDługosz Yeah, I have to clean mine every morning :/

hey there @Bellerophon @JDługosz @Mithrandir24601
@Mithrandir24601 no kidding

Hello @Shalvenay.

how're things going?

@Shalvenay Rytsas! How're things?

10:14 PM
alright here
one of you folks mentioned something back when we were discussing the whole rapier vs hammer duel thing that if the duelist with the rapier won, an observer would see the duelist with the hammer just collapse or something like that...mind expanding on that some for me, please?

10:38 PM
hey there @HDE226868

@Shalvenay Sounds unlikely that they would collapse. I can see the hammer person being exhausted by the end.

@Bellerophon hrm. I'll have to dig up the original line
ah, it was @DaaaahWhoosh who mentioned it :)
I'll have to poke him :)

11:00 PM
@HDE226868 Do you mind if I make an example of your profile for this question: interpersonal.meta.stackexchange.com/q/1917/397
?
You are, of course, welcome to say no
