@MattЭллен - That's much better. It made me laugh and I knew the punchline already!
It'll go up tonight.
One question: Why is it called "419"?
Ah, got it.

3:33 AM
Added a picture too.

2 hours later…
5:13 AM
Here's Matt's flash fiction: 419

8 hours later…
12:59 PM
@NeilFein I like it! Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome, and thanks for the story.

Hey, we should add Reg to the house band. He plays keys.

4 hours later…
4:34 PM
am I interrupting something?

looks around
Nope.

we were having a 5 hour sponsored silence, but I guess we'll have to give the money back, now.

LOLOLOL
but the site informed me that i was missing the weekly writing exercise!
:(

guess not. I had to imagine that everyone was deep in thought on their writing pieces. LOL

@Aerovistae It's not for another hour.

4:36 PM
I guess by the "Weekly Writing Exercise" thing.
okay...good I found people around anyway.

Oh. Or maybe twenty minutes.

ah ha

And I haven't prepared anything, so @Matt is going to do it today.

yay!

I'mwhat?
I'm going in 25 minutes

4:38 PM
Yeah, you're hosting today.
Because you published today.
Well, you'll have to phone it in from the road.

yeah, but, so, don't I get a day to bask?

Hosting is basking.
It's the glory you get to revel in.
Duh.

heh heh. My problem is more topic, and will to do it, but I think I can get it done today.

@Glenn1234 you want to do a 10 minute writing exercise? I can give you a topic

4:40 PM
Topic? Oh, are you doing the exercise from last week?

The way I come up with a topic is to close my eyes and pick the first thing I see, regardless of my ability to write about it.

no thanks...like I said I think I got something if I can finish it out. Can't stay around too long anyway.

OK. I'm around, but finishing a task, so ping me of you have any questions.

well anyway hope your writing exercise goes well. :)

Thanks.

4:44 PM
OK. well I guess I'll have to propose an exercise

For next week?

bye all...

Come again!

I thought maybe suggesting a topic for a 10 minute write
then eveything else can happen later

Oh. OK.
I have to get this data out, so I am really unhelpful right now. Sorry.

4:47 PM
I mean real exercise is hard to come up with because it's got to be something people can learn from, or something
To warm you all up on my cold cycle home, spend ten minutes writing about: "Is this a standard roll out?"

5:02 PM
Hullo chatters!
Matt has given us a writing topic today. I will be gone for about fifteen minutes, and then I'll do the exercise. You should all feel free to join in whenever you like.
bbs.

what the heck does that mean?
a standard roll out

Well, I guess you can just guess. Or maybe that's what you can write. A dialogue where someone doesn't know and the other guy is trying to explain it.

5:21 PM
Here is my exercise.
So writers! What are we writing about recently?

5:37 PM
I'm no writer, hardly a reader anymore (lurking tourist)

5:59 PM
Too many teenagers to write anything. One, to be specific.

OK then. I'm back again.
I've been writing in my head. I'm not sure if that counts.

@KitFox That there's intriguing. One wants to know what the thing is. Oh, I know! It's a Macguffin!

It's totally a Macguffin!

I had no idea Macguffins came in red neoprene.

Red neoprene.

6:05 PM
jinx

I almost stopped to look up neoprene.
Then I decided to just run with it. It's a nice sounding word.

I'd suggest naugahyde, but I always feel sorry for the poor naugas.

I didn't think you'd guess it.
Nougathyde.
Mmm.

I'd guess what?

That is was a Macguffin.
I strive to make all my Macguffins transparent to my users readers.

6:09 PM
Ah ... red transparent neoprene. That is what I missed.

6:44 PM
So @Matt, did you do your own exercise?

@KitFox I'm gonna eat fist :D

Some kind of fracas going on over there?

it's quiet as ever. just the sound of a microwave and a pot of boiling veg

Then whose fist are you eating?

lol.
I didn't even see that.
I'll be eating the fist of the spinach cannelloni that insulted my mother. and then the rest of it.

6:54 PM
Wow.

/eating

7:43 PM
exercise. Not my best work.
@KitFox nice! makes me want to read on!

@MattЭллен Hahahahahaha.
So we should have an exercise for next week.
I've been slacking.
What do you want to do?

8:01 PM
um

8:14 PM
write something
still thinking...
how about we should write a short story, aim for 500 words. The story doesn't have to be funny, but it should have a punchline or twist ending.

OK.
For the Jan 29, 2013 chat, we'll write a 500 (roughly) word short story with an unexpected ending.

Q: Trademarked words in business cards

tomI want to say on my business card that I'm an ASP.NET and MSSQL developer. For those of you who don't know, those are Microsoft technologies. Am I allowed to use those and other such terms on my business cards?

So what do folks think of this question? Questions about individual terms are off-topic, pretty much, but legal questions are on-topic.
(Before anyone suggests sending this to English, I asked them and a mod said "no", that this is a legal question - and, presumably, therefore not a question about language.)
