7:07 PM
@Jolenealaska nope, not still here
Jolenealaska
me neither.
Preston Fitzgerald
Me neither.
Jolenealaska
nor him
AJ Henderson
well as long as none of us are here, I guess I'll go back to idling
Jolenealaska
I'm watching Chopped. A fine waste of time.
Mien
7:12 PM
HI
Jolenealaska
Hi Mien!
How did the rice pudding turn out?
Mien
Hi Jolene :)
Oh you remembered that :P
It was actually quite nice!
Jolenealaska
I remember almost all mention of food.
Mien
But it is still rice pudding, so don't expect anything beyond that.
The black rice gave it a really agreeable texture.
and the coconut cream made it exotic and something different :)
It looked very cool :P
Jolenealaska
It was the coconut that most intrigued me.
Mien
7:16 PM
it was nice!
it was quite subtle
but definitely noticeable
there's a cake/dessert competition at my work place next Friday :P
do you have a winner? :D
Jolenealaska
I don't care for coconut flakes, but I'm learning to love the milk.
Hmmm
Mien
I did not add flakes, just coconut cream ;)
Jolenealaska
Rules?
Mien
no rules
Jolenealaska
So any cake?
Mien
7:20 PM
but I have to get it to work of course and there is no freezer there
any cake is fine
or cookies/muffins/....
Jolenealaska
Yep. Hold on.
Mien
:D
Jolenealaska
Here. Total cheat and awesome:
Mien
I'm curious
Jolenealaska
browneyedbaker.com/2013/06/04/better-than-sex-cake-recipe
Mien
7:23 PM
seems nice
but impossible for me :P
Jolenealaska
What part? We can improvise.
Mien
the only thing available from the recipe here is the can of sweetened condensed milk :P
Jolenealaska
That's the only important part!
Ok, here's another one
foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/tres-leche-cake-recipe.html
Add a layer of caramel or chocolate.
Mien
hehe
I think transporting that one is gonna be tricky
me is difficult
Jolenealaska
Ok, how about a magic flan cake?
foodnetwork.com/recipes/marcela-valladolid/…
When it comes to cake, gooey wins.
Mien
7:33 PM
Heh, I actually did buy a Bundt pan and have not used it
have you made that recipe?
Jolenealaska
there ya go!
Not exactly that one, but similar.
Mien
I think I'll make that one at home :P
But not for the competition :D
Jolenealaska
It's a fun dessert.
Mien
transportation is an issue again
Jolenealaska
What, are you going by camel?
wax eagle
7:35 PM
@Mien ooh, pound cake
Mien
@Jolenealaska :D
wax eagle
easy to transport, serve with fresh fruit
Mien
BIke, train, tram and on foot :)
Jolenealaska
Ah. So almost camel.
Mien
I'd like to go on caramel.
I had the idea of a regular American apple pie in mind
that is actually quite rare here
Jolenealaska
7:37 PM
OOH!
Mien
too bad I can't serve it with ice cream :P
Jolenealaska
Mien
Those ingredients I have :)
Jolenealaska
I have made that. It was great.
Mien
It sounds a bit special
but certainly an option!
I'd like to try it in advance though
Jolenealaska
7:45 PM
Top with caramel.
Mien
is there anything you wouldn't top with caramel? :P
Jolenealaska
Camel?
ElendilTheTall
@mien I'm sure I recognise that name...
Mien
Nothing better than a caramel-topped camel, excep Elendil.
Hello stranger :)
ElendilTheTall
Do you have saj with you in exile?
Also, that is the first time I have been compared favourably to a camel. Thanks :)
Mien
7:51 PM
Oh, about that...
I secretly fed him cilantro.
yw
ElendilTheTall
Ah
That explains a lot
He has gone into cilantro retreat
He's no doubt sitting atop Mount Wannahokkaloogie purging himself
Jolenealaska
I can see that from here. He's not there.
Mien
maybe his cats murdered him?
Jolenealaska
Perhaps. He's been only feeding Friskies. I'd eat him.
Mien
Oh. Rookie mistake.
Jolenealaska
7:58 PM
No catnip even.
ElendilTheTall
@mien I thought that too
I tried to warn him
Anyway, enough about Mr Mysterious
@mien where have you been?
Mien
I've been in Seattle.
Jolenealaska
Oven/stove combo?
Ah that's right. You've been slumming!
Mien
slumming? :P
Jolenealaska
In the USA. Scary.
Mien
8:13 PM
Is Seattle that poor? :P
Jolenealaska
Did you make it back OK? Valuables intact?
No, not really, Seattle is actually known for being a lovely place.
Mien
I got back just fine, and so did my luggage :)
It actually it very nice!
Have you been there?
Jolenealaska
Yes, been there. Nice town!
Mien
Yes :)
Not that big actually :P
Jolenealaska
That may be my next home.
wax eagle
8:18 PM
its high up on my list of places to visit.
Jolenealaska
The climate here is getting to be a bit much. I hate heat though. Seattle may be a happy medium.
ElendilTheTall
@mien I've always wanted to go there. Did it rain?
Mien
Er, I think it did?
Anyway, I'm off :) ttyl! bye!
Jolenealaska
Bye Mien. CYA soon!
Don't get bit by a camel.
I understand that they're quite nasty when they want to be.
ElendilTheTall
8:33 PM
@mien bye, come back soon
Jolenealaska
Make sure that the burner grids are removable. Other than that, no problem.
That's an easy one. Have fun!
1 hour later…
