If you were starting out, after just getting an electrical engineering degree, would you do a job primarily involved in PLC programming?
An HR person called me about a job (no description made yet) that seems to be mostly PLC programming.

"Is this really comparable in terms of level?

IMHO PLC-programming is lower in the food-chain, and is more like a craft such as electrician. Sure nothing wrong about that but electrical engineering is at least one step up. You could be the one designing the PLC-devices, or write the development software for it." https://www.eevblog.com/forum/chat/plc-programmer-or-electrical-engineer-designer/
I just don't want to start out with below my value by doing technician/electrician work. Say an entry level EE is payed $65k and PLC programmer is payed $40k... but I suppose PLC programming bleeds into a lot of EE jobs anyway. So it might be better than nothing (in my state).
Not having a job description for the position is kinda a red flag though.

@adamaero ..PLC's are used in industry, heavy and light. Entire factories are connected. Lots of room for a talented engineer to see the Big picture. Motion control for welders Automation. A
You gain knowledge of many things not related to electronics. Broadens your knowledge base.

Ya, I know. Learned PLC programming over a short winter internship
But if it's primarily PLC programming for an outdoor lights type of company... sounds more of a job for a technician/electrician...
