Is linear feedback shift register moore or mealy ? It was asked in my exams
it had 3 registers and one Xor gate with output of R1 and R2 in it and its output went to R0. initial state was given

@LukeF Because nothing bad can happen during the day? Seems like a weak security measure

@LukeF Well, everything is relative. Routers tend to run "warm" inside, so thermal cycling could play an eventual role in it's failure. Whether that be 1 year or 10 years from now, is anyone's guess. The heating and cooling causes mechanical shifting, which slowly damages solder connections. Many factors influence this, such as which types of solder connections are present, the composition of the solder, the differential of temperature, coefficents of expansion, etc.
Short answer is, if the unit eventually fails, suspect poor solder connections. :)

@ankii Does the output depend on only the state signals, or on both the state signals and the inputs?

@ThePhoton I am aware of the definitions, but there was no external input. Only clocking.
So I am confused whether previous state, when given to the next register as input, counts as input for Mealy or not.

4:59 PM
@ankii If that were the case, how would you ever have a Moore state machine?

ok my question looks dumb right now.
I had just memorised the definitions, didn't think them through. I did choose Moore though.

A lot of definitions require familiarity to use them confidently.

Sure they do!
now I am thinking to write a thank you email to the professor whose slides and assignments I used to study. He is not the one who taught us the course.
has anyone been there? receiving thank you emails, not the thanks under the answers here

I'm not really in that kind of position, but I know I would appreciate an email like that.

Do surge protectors or ups protect devices from short circuits, always wondered?
Or do botg
Both

Just had some senior design students find an error in a TI datasheet

11:00 PM
@W5VO Some people who wrote datasheets [whom I've known] wouldn't beat some of the senior students [whom I've known] in a pillow fight.
Anyway. What's the datasheet? What's the error?

@NickAlexeev ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lm119.pdf - Page 3. The table is wrong

11:25 PM
They weren't too sure what to do with the discrepancy (fair enough)
