@silverpenguin No sense even. There are different joins for a reason. But no time for teaching you. Work to do.
He did say that he understands they're different.
@Arperum ^
@Arperum I know the differences and the reasons for them lol
@Simon and then proceeded to disprove that statement.
How?

yknow what, nevermind, my brain is too tired to try to php.
That's the easy way out.
I am a PHP developer i use them on a daily basis :( I think i just dont do english well @Simon
Adi
Adi
Do we need to have the PHP talk again?

@silverpenguin You also need to wear white gloves when you're replying to ovid.
Otherwise he's gonna twist the shit out of what you said, exactly like kalinuuuuuuuuuuh.
@AviD how do you get brain tired? :O
14:03
@Simon you understood me right? e_e you are weird like me e_e you can be my API e_e
@silverpenguin soz I only have 1 thread and it's always busy.
probably an old age thing...
@Simon apt-get install php5 << upgrade your version and use multithreading in your classes
:P
@silverpenguin is your keyboard broken? you keep having weird letters in between words.
@AviD lol
14:05
@silverpenguin PHP7 now, actually...
See, told ya to wear those white gloves.
@Lighty did they do a stable debian release yet for the apt?
@silverpenguin idk, idc
hosted somewhere else
@silverpenguin Probably not.
not my problem

Q: Normal usage vs. denial-of-service? How many requests are needed to talk about a denial of service?

LonzakRecently I used a tool to download a website and as part of the tool one could adjust the number of parallel connections. So now I found myself asking starting from how many requests a provider could rate it as a denial of service. I googled around however didn't find specific numbers or at least...

I am baffled that people are confused that a denial of service attack is any attack which results in service being denied...
@Simon had to compile my own PHP7 for debian ARM the other week... that took ages staring at a screen waiting
@silverpenguin Ages? Is the server single-threaded too?
@Ohnana looks like PHP can have a reprieve while we all bash node.js for a bit ;)
@Simon mobile phone ... took like 20 mins to make and make install and install and blargh
14:08
Why on earth are you installing that on mobile?
@Simon RnD
ô_ô
@Matthew it's a feature :)
@Simon I develop on a system which requires alot of RnD because the use of these systems have not been this before... so i get to play with things all day :D mostly...
@silverpenguin Are you saying that you're planning to use a phone to interpret PHP files on a production system?
14:11
I'm as mad as hell... and I'm not going to take this anymore!
Shut top.
sets
fire
to
ME
everything
14:11
@kalina ohh you meant mad as in cray cray
pls cray cray
I didn't know that Metallica did an Anti-Nowhere League cover cc @DavidFreitag
NSFW
You're a cunning stunt.
you're nsfw
@Simon I HAVE A WHAT?!
o
@Simon you mean a stunning c....? :))
14:13
pls no
nerds like x men, @Simon likes c men
@Ohnana damn.
@kalina Claims she wants gender equality, laughs at homosexual men.
@Ohnana npm's trust model sucks, this is a good example of why :)
Way to go, girl.
14:14
@Simon I laugh at everyone
@TildalWave oh that says CUNNing STunts ... well played dyslexia... well played
thus, equality
@RоryMcCune npm just plain sucks?
@Ohnana the HN thread was funny people seeming surprised about the lack of validation on NPM
@MarkBuffalo No idea guv, I'm not a JavaScript dev, I just think the number of people pulling code from it and blindly running that code in production is too damn high!
You're too damn high.
14:16
@Simon ehhh bit more indepth than that its not literally a mobile... a mobile would be more powerful.... but its hard to mention to much detail without giving away a big chunk of my secret identity
@RоryMcCune This is called cut and paste based development
@silverpenguin yeah he also says wot-a LOL stupid mercans
@silverpenguin da fuk r u trying to do on a Raspberry Pi, son?
@RоryMcCune brb, doing curl ... | sh as root.
@Simon D: you have found my secrets
14:16
Too many devs relying on libaries today
Including myself
:(
stackoverflow is like a library
The only library I rely on is Bootstrap because I suck at CSS.
Which means that I need jQuery but whatevs.
I don't cut and paste though
@Simon I work in avionics :D remember that haha! and all the pieces shall fall like a house of cards...check mate...
Oh man, I figging hate bootstrap
14:18
@MarkBuffalo typing it out word for word is the same thing
@kalina hahahaha
Should probably put this as alias yolo=wgetandpipetoshasroot where wgetandpipetoshasroot is an appropriate function.
@silverpenguin o right
@kalina usually I just need to know a static class name or something
@Simon do you have linked in ?? that you are willing to share with you favourite manatee
14:19
"This thing is deprecated. Please use x instead"
@silverpenguin A few lads have me on there, looks like you're gonna have to go full on stalker if you wanna send me a request because I'm not gonna link it here.
@Simon you give me permission to track you down ?
@Simon Can I stalk you, mr. Simon?
@silverpenguin Yep.
@MarkBuffalo No.
:(
That hurts my Internet feelings, you know.
14:22
Too bad, that's what you get for being too creepy.
Haha
Am I really that creepy? Sorry, I'll tone it down a bit.
@Simon I think i found you
@silverpenguin What am I doing on my profile picture?
looking to my left @Simon
in a red t shirt
Oh yeah that's an old ass picture.
Did you get my last name?
14:30
Simon D
Yup that's right because I love the D.
2
I found you ;)
pretty quick time eh
Yeah but it's not like I've been my identity lulz
@Simon hey man I had to stalk someone prior to you
Whoa.
14:32
you need to cut some of your contacts loose they are your weak spot
Yeah I think I know how you did it.
Google+ is the weak vector.
@Simon yes hahaa google pls
Anyway, I'll accept the request whenever I get home if I remember.
:O remember? you think about me night and day
wat
14:34
well stalking simon has given me my feel of accomplishment of the day... mission accomplished everyone
Yaaaaaaayyyyyyy - work instance has been updated to include latest Office and IE 11
@RoryAlsop lol'd
I can actually use my work machine to do things
Were you on IE10 before?
@RoryAlsop you can use that IE 11 to download google chrome
14:36
Security expert => forced to use IE10
Oh - I have a workaround version of chrome on here already
@Simon oh no - it wasn't anywhere near that new
I still have IE 8 on my work machine...
@RoryAlsop Wow.
14:36
@RoryAlsop 6 e_e
Big corps suck for that.
:-/
The good thing was - the entire update took 8 minutes. I love virtual desktop environments
@ThomasPornin Looks like Desjardins really cares about security, eh?
ffs
@Simon I suppose they assume that I won't browse funky sites -- and, anyway, they block funky sites.
Fortunately, I also have my own laptop with my own phone, thus using my own Internet.
@ThomasPornin I bet it'd take you less than 2 hours to bypass the block.
14:38
@Simon in corporates it is not sensible to bypass the block
@Simon Of course. But I won't.
@RoryAlsop That's for sure.
@ThomasPornin Are they paying for your data?
And making sure your machine is absolutely stock is a very good thing in a corporate environment
@Simon Yes. 2 GB per month.
It reduces your risk exposure dramatically
14:39
@ThomasPornin Ouch.
Sounds like you're doing your system updates at home.
However on LTE, you must be getting a decent speed.
@Simon Yes -- on an emergency, I can use the WiFi for visitors, that at least let Linux updates flow.
Hi, is it safe to use Facebook?
Hi - no
they don't have 2step auth
@AbhimanyuAryan No. Facebook makes people stupid.
14:41
and yes
If you want to share cat pictures I think it is pretty effective
my sister's facebook account was just hacked and I received a comment
It's also pretty effective at sharing your personal data
on my status. I posted Cricket sucks :D
@AbhimanyuAryan in all fairness it is really boring
I prefer to use Twitter. Atleast it has 2-step SMS verification.
14:42
@RoryAlsop ... with complete strangers and evilcorp
are 2-step verification really safe?
Is anything really safe?
yes @silverpenguin it sucks.....total waste of time
@TildalWave yup
@AbhimanyuAryan maybe this would be a question best for the main site rather than a chat room :) im sure you will get a good response
14:43
Out of curiosity, does anyone here actually even use FB for anything else than, erm, let's say research?
@AbhimanyuAryan why would you need 2-step verification for Twitter. Also - SMS verification is not a good choice of 2nd factor
I don't man @Simon....but if you don't click links without https, download unknown attachments then you aren't dump
@TildalWave I have 4 Facebook accounts
@TildalWave I deleted facebook it creeps me out... i kept it going for 4 extra years trying to get all photos of me deleted
@RoryAlsop sure, but do you actually use them as they were meant to be?
14:44
@RoryAlsop I suppose they all contain personal data of other people?
and no, your company accounts don't count...
hey @Simon look, history :))
@TildalWave I wasn't even born in 1984.
I have a facebook account. I just regard everything I post on it as public info.
Do you guys have personnel profiles on Internet? With real pictures?
@Simon get off my lawn.
@AbhimanyuAryan for certain values of real
14:51
Yeah like the fugly dog that you see right now is his real dog.
for personnel profiles, carefully selected awkward moments, for personal profile, carefully selected non-awkward ones :P
Yeah like the IBC video some of us did, we all broke the OpSec barrier.
so should I get rid of all my photographs. Like Google can search about me easily. If somebody type my name.

Google tells all of the activities. Weather on stackoverflow, or anyother site
?
@AbhimanyuAryan You just gotta ask yourself if an individual could use any of this information to harm you.
@AbhimanyuAryan once on the internet, always on the internet ... too late to delete stuff now
14:54
Yaa that's true
@AbhimanyuAryan yeppers
but sometimes I really don't care even if somebody photoshop my face with a nude body. I take it positive "All publicity good publicity"
unless somebody hacks into my money.
or Bitcoins
well, it would be a bit awkward if some official requests that you strip naked so they can identify you because that's how you appear on official identification documents :D
@AbhimanyuAryan dude, i would save that as an internet award
But I think I have to stop using Facebook for sure. Like on Twitter. I mostly re-tweet and reply professionally(which couldn't harm me much)

Facebook has my feeling. Anyone can do little bit web scrapping and look for keywords.
14:57
@Ohnana :DDD
"and here you see the work of someone who cared enough about my existence to sit through photoshop's startup sequence"
like "I fell", "I like" and even kids can do tab nabbing and phishing
@Ohnana lol
hehehehehehe
@AbhimanyuAryan tbh, you can find out a whole lot of info about me on my fb, and i've put it there intentionally
@AbhimanyuAryan Why don't you set your profile on private and allow only your friends to see your content?
@Ohnana same.
14:58
@Simon This
@Ohnana if someone photoshops my face onto someones body I really hope they use hugh jackman ...
There's a lot of privacy parameters that you can tweak on FB.
A million times that.
can't blackmail me with public information, and i get to belittle the poor sap who tries but calling them a skiddie
I take it personal when somebody target my family(sister). I care less if they target me. But she doesn't seem to care. I do
14:59
Nobody can blackmail me. I don't have any secrets worth protecting d:
