It's by far an easier answer.

Essentially, I know that to implement something like that I'd need to use file system mini filters to catch all the IRJ_XYZXYZXYZ you get in procmon

and I can build the ddk samples and work from there

but I've never done it in anger before

so I'd be feeling my way along

@AviD yep, guy. If it were normal win32 I'd say yes without hesitation, as I've delivered win32 apps just fine. I'm reasonably confident I could do it given sufficient time to learn and would very much like to go in that direction, but it sounds much like a role for an experienced done this a few times kind of guy/gal.

But don't worry about bugging me - s'not a problem, I'd like to do that kind of thing. I just want to make sure I don't set unrealistic expectations about my abilities!

I decided a while back I didn't know nearly enough about how my computer worked, so I've been working through OS theory in my spare time, reading books, internet articles, docs etc. I'm at the stage where I think I know enough to know where to start actually meddling in anger rather than just trying little things - so I was in two minds about saying no.

@AviD That could be an issue. There are people who could, but I somehow doubt they're as common a php developers, say. I'm going to work on building a basic procmon in my spare time just for the educational experience... :P So, if you haven't found anyone in a couple of weeks, I might actually know quite a lot more :)

yknow it doesnt have to actually be a fully functional procmon, or a functional anything, just that you know how to, i.e. you know all about the minifilters and such, and other core APIs for internals and such.

I have a feeling that's gonna stay open for a few weeks, anyhoo, since as you say they're not as common as php scripters

(yeah, I hesitate to call the unwashed php masses, "developers" ;-) )

@AviD in fairness it does depend. Proper php frameworks use MVC etc (kohana for example).
