@ScottPack & @Xander how's your voting battle going?
@Simon re the coffee convo from this morning.... Some coffees actually do have a substantially higher acidity. Before I switched to fresh roasted, I would have to stop drinking it for a couple days every once in a while, when the heartburn got too much.
Or you might just be lactose intolerant, and it just the milk causing it.
Or a bad heart might be adversely affected by the caffeine boost.
whatever it is, its important to push past this, and start drinking that godly beverage every day.
@ScottPack my coffee guy likes to mock Keurigs.
@Simon another thing, see if there is a difference between drinking coffee on an empty stomach vs a full one.
@AviD Actually, I didn't feel bad after a whole cup today, it might be because of the apple I ate.
Not sure if I'm courageous enough to do the same test tomorrow without food.
@Simon then that sounds like it might be the acid, after all.
you could also try different types of coffee - different beans, different roasts, different styles of prep...
I've only recently become a coffee "snob" (okay not quite, but I'm learning) and I see there really is a world of difference between them.
@TildalWave "When asked, 'How do you take your coffee', I reply 'Seriously. VERY seriously.' "
@AviD "temporarily unavailable" :O
what is it?
I don't even have a FB account :) nope, still doesn't work
dang :(
23:25
@AviD I can ask missus to open it, she's signed in if that'll help?
First, I should ask myself if I really wanna be a coffee drinker though.
I'm logged in and I don't see it.
Oh lawd, I clicked on it.
Does that work?
@Simon yey! @Simon FTW!!
I'm such a pro.
@Simon yeah! thanks... dont know what I was doing wrong... :$
@AviD Did you open the photo viewer and then right click -> copy image url?
23:27
@Simon yeah.... nevermind.
@AviD maybe @JeffF is playing tricks on you? :) I hear people get fast bored working for FB and start taking photos of wildlife and such
@TildalWave LOL
yeah, no technical challenges, eh? probably some moral ones, though.
Anyway, gotta go back to my maths. I've been doing well so far.
To do well for me means that I haven't been procrastinating.
@Simon How'd the coffee go last night
@RoryAlsop You totez just stole my thing!
@AviD I always have as well. The problem is that, after one day, I'm beginning to be won over based on the convenience. It's embarrassing to admit.
23:35
Now i just gotta wait for @copy and @paste to show up at the same time....
@ScottPack yeah, definitely simpler. all the capsule machines are too... but its really not the same.
@AviD No, it's definitely not.
not just in making the coffee either, its the cleanup that pisses me off.
Cleanup?
pot, grinds, etc.
with pods - you just pop it out and toss it in the bin.
23:39
Ah, yeah.
I'm rather annoyed with all the waste on the K-cups. Pods I'm pretty OK with.
@D3C4FF heh yeah I never doubted he's a lawyer, but he still did a nice little research regardless, and I kinda agree with him.
We use pods for our espresso machine.
@ScottPack are the kcups really that different from pods? cant say I've ever used them firsthand.
@D3C4FF You know why lawyers stand up when talking?
so you can hear from their arse?
23:41
@AviD It's basically a pod stored inside a plastic cup with a foil lid.
@AviD that's it
As opposed to this
@ScottPack whoa, that looks complicated.
One of those I could throw in my compost and not worry about it. One of those has a half life of 15000 years.
@TildalWave Was tempted to flag as spam. But he didn't link back to his company (nor does the company he's suggesting using seem to link back to his...)
23:43
@ScottPack Blimey what's wrong with the plain old Turkish coffee? You get all the taste of the roasted beans, and all you have to learn is to leave the last sip
I was talking more about this, but sure, same deal
@TildalWave I actually don't like Turkish. Too dark for my tastes.
@TildalWave ewww.
@D3C4FF No, I think that the only one that was advertising him is actually you in the comments LOL :P He was probably just bored, found the question interesting and did some research on it... I appreciate that
actually the most common coffee drunk here, and why starbucks is not doing as well here as in the rest of the civilized world.
23:45
@ScottPack I meant the way to prepare it, you can of course use any grain for it, I also prefer slightly milder beans
@D3C4FF I survived and it didn't hurt!
@AviD That doesn't look much different than the kcup, so it's probably much the same internally. When I hear pod I think more of the second picture I posted.
hmm. well at least its plastic, and not styrofoam...
That's something, I suppose.
They do make reusable kcups, but I've been told they're a freaking nightmare to clean and reuse.
@ScottPack and that voids the whole point, doesnt it....
23:56
Largely.
The biggest advantage of the cup style brew systems it that multiple people can each get what they want, instead of everyone having to share. A secondary advantage is that you can make only a single cup instead of some fraction of a pot.
