@RubelliteYakṣī First of all, VisishtAdvaita is logical, if our discussion of it came across as illogical, that's purely a failure of communication. Next, oneness is not alien to VisishtAdvaita - it is a non-dual school of thought after all (also this is where the nuances of the two philosophies starts having an impact on our understanding). Additionally, as far as utility goes, absolute non-dualism doesn't reject, phenomenally speaking ofc, the various portions of Yoga.

Q: Can one worship Lord Shiva after smoking weed?

MahakaalI am immersed in devotion after smoking weed. Can I worship Lord Shiva after smoking weed? Or it will be worship of weed not me?

@TheLittleNaruto What is your basis for comments on Mahakaal's question?
just curious
@TheLittleNaruto So, you don't have any problem if a unclean drunkard enters a temple and says "I have devotion and that is enough" ?
Answering in comments can be misleading.
@LakshmiNarayanan Which comment ? first or second ?
@NogShine Only if he is true to his word.
@TheLittleNaruto both if possible.
@TheLittleNaruto All drunkards say they are perfectly alright. How do we know one is true or not?
If a drunkard says he will say he can drive home safely. will you allow him?
@LakshmiNarayanan First one is very clear, isn't it ? If you're aware that you're worshiping i.e. Nothing can interfere your devotion, be it weed or anything.
@NogShine My answer can't satisfy your logic.
04:42
@TheLittleNaruto I think you are extrapolating a lot here. These substances can change the state of your mind.
@TheLittleNaruto Is that a yes then?
We're not the one who can measure any person devotion. @Nog
@LakshmiNarayanan of course they can.
I think if done in the correct ritualistic setting then it can amplify or assist in devotional activities but in general, which is what seems to be the situation of the question, your comment requires qualification/conditionals. Better to delete it for the fear of misleading. This is my opinion.
@TheLittleNaruto ^
Understood.
Done :)
@TheLittleNaruto Thank you for understanding :)
04:46
@LakshmiNarayanan Well.. it was making sense according to HSE. That's it. :)
@TheLittleNaruto ^_^
@NogShine @LakshmiNarayanan so what if some sects allow intoxicating and worship ?
@RakeshJoshi Ummm I didn't say they should not. I said proper procedures have to be followed under Guru.
Additionally, I don't think all forms of intoxication are accessible/amenable to worship.
There are vedic rituals too which have use of such substances

@RakeshJoshi Ummm I didn't say they should not. I said proper procedures have to be followed under Guru.
04:51
So OP does not mention all kind of intoxication?
No he is asking about Cannabis I think
@NogShine yes drinking and driving is allowed in some countries upto certain limit
Cannabis, also known as marijuana among other names, is a psychoactive drug from the Cannabis plant intended for medical or recreational use. The main psychoactive part of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC); one of 483 known compounds in the plant, including at least 65 other cannabinoids. Cannabis can be used by smoking, vaporizing, within food, or as an extract. Cannabis is often used for its mental and physical effects, such as a "high" or "stoned" feeling, a general change in perception, euphoria (heightened mood), and an increase in appetite. Onset of effects is within minutes when smoked...
@RakeshJoshi Exactly there are rules to be followed.
Yes some sadhus have custom of using it and some temples too use similar thing bhaang to offer to deity roo
So by default one should not assume that no rules are followed at all
04:54
The issue at hand is not whether it can be used but rather what is the procedure to follow to fruitfully use substances for spiritual pursuits
Then tomorrow you people may say that some temple offers liquor and bhaang to the diety so temple should be closed
@RakeshJoshi Dude read his question
@RakeshJoshi I know that. These are special conditions. but why are you saying these all to me? I know some sadhus take some toxic materials, some smoke etc.,. I know it already.
@RakeshJoshi If you are interested in vithandaavaadam, I think better to not converse only.
Did he say that he is not following rules or not willing to follow any ?
04:55
@RakeshJoshi see my comment.
@NogShine because of.the comments i am seeing here
@RakeshJoshi Weed means marijuana
@RakeshJoshi upto limit but that is not recommended.
We havw variety of people in Hinduism. I don't know anout OP bit but there are people who use it for higher.states of consciousness
05:01
You took example of Vedic rituals. Do Vedic rituals have marijuana? Do you know OP is doing Vedic ritual? Do you know he is going to a temple where Bhaang, liquor is offered to deity? Perhaps he is going to a temple where there is a strict ban of such things. So, saying a comment taking weed is allowed is a misleading comment.
I think soma also was believed as psychoactive substance
So you also dont know and i also dont know its better to ask him before making conclusions
@RakeshJoshi Nobody is saying Entheogen usage is unwise by itself what is unwise is to do it without guidance.
Exactly, the question is unclear and lacking context. When it is unclear, we should not jump to conclusions and should not give granted statements it is allowed. I didn't say to OP it is allowed or not allowed. I was just chatting here. Why are you saying to me that I advised OP something?
At best, there are protocols that would surround such a ritual. Search for a Guru, they will guide you. — LakshmiNarayanan 33 mins ago

Q: Why is Indra known as Vaikuntha in some Rigvedic verses?

Dr. Vineet AggarwalRig Veda Book 10 Verse 48 refers to Indra as Indra Vaikuntha. From what I understand, Vaikuntha was also the name of an incarnation of Lord Vishnu in the Raivat Manvantar though the Indra then was someone else. SO my question is - Is there a relation between Indra and Vaikuntha incarnation of Lo...

I like the scrollbar for current design which will be gone with new design.
Which scrollbar ?
I don't see it.
They should give more options in the left navigation. I don't visit Tags and users much
I will hide it forever. :P
What do you mean ?
Why you started sounding complicated all of a sudden ? o_O
We can hide the left navigation bar.
