4:00 PM
Time to eat nothing but soup for a year
Til I'm a sumo

@Simon hush it
@MarkBuffalo I noticed

@silverpenguin joking

@MarkBuffalo I know :)

Adi
@RоryMcCune Sadly, I can't answer it for two reasons: A- Still having a hard time writing an exploit. I'm quite a noob when it comes to the whole poopy file handle exploitation. B- If I do it, I'd have to create a new account that isn't linked to me.

@Adi shame, what a waste of good internet points :)

Adi
4:13 PM
Not so bad, though. Today after work I'll go study a bit more
I'm pretty sure I can become better at it in a short time

@Simon it's not like mages still use counterspell

wfplsiu.com <heh (NSFW text)

Anyway, there's only one true counterspell and it cost 2 blue mana.

Adi
What the hell this?! threatbutt.com/map
5
IT'S AWESOME!

@Adi I think they're taking the mickey out of the now defunct norse Pew Pew map

Adi
4:18 PM
Yup

> Time to learn fucking Java and Swift. Hybrid apps suck, so your dumb ass needs to learn both.
lmao

@Adi I love that site in general:
> We guarantee our attribution is accurate as we paid for the more expensive MaxMinds GeoIP database

Uhm
Lead particles in my water. Tons of them
Praise Flint
@Adi lmfao

4:34 PM
@MarkBuffalo hooooly shit get a water filter

@Ohnana I got pics

do you have an actual water test?

http://imgur.com/94GVq1X
http://imgur.com/L56hXnk
This is Tim Hortons
Now initially I thought it was coffee grinds
But still not taking a chance
On closer inspection, I don't think it's coffee grinds

@Adi add ?dprk_mode=1 to the URL :)

No lunch for me today. I tossed all of it
@Ohnana btw, and most people don't know this, Detroit has worse water quality than flint
In most areas, that is. Some places are alright.
And yeah we have a water filter at home. Several of them.

4:45 PM
@MarkBuffalo O_O
@MarkBuffalo i knew that tho...

@diagprov bahaha
@Ohnana nice. Well, lead for lunch isn't my thing

@kalina First off, I specifically asked what color scheme @RoryAlsop wanted - he did not care.

And since I just bought soup. .. well.
I'm gonna give them a call and encourage them to get their water tested or something

@kalina I'm getting kind of tired of you telling everyone I'm useless.

@DavidFreitag don't worry baby, you're always useful to me.

4:49 PM
@Adi if you would like, we can start with price/performance goals

@MarkBuffalo Lead particles in water are not a problem; in Detroit, what kills you is lead bullets in your body.
2

@ThomasPornin lol
I haven't been shot yet. And I walk through the ghettos no problem

@ThomasPornin it can be related tho

@MarkBuffalo that's because you're a freaking giant

lead poisoning is not really the best for state of mind

4:55 PM
Although some guy just tried to act funny with me and made threatening moves at me
@DavidFreitag well, my slight tallness can't stand up to a gun

@Adi Super Effective!

@TildalWave yup, kinda ponies you up

@MarkBuffalo Slight?

@DavidFreitag :-)

@DavidFreitag I feel short

4:58 PM
@MarkBuffalo There's something wrong with you

TMI

It's a weird perception issue. I literally cannot feel tall at all
I feel really short
@DavidFreitag we've already established this a million times d:

you're really a chihuahua at heart?

@TildalWave maybe?

@M'vy It recently came back in the meta.
Some people have been running Duplicate + Counterspell.

5:00 PM
@Simon hearthstone?

Yes.

Ah, great game

Well I guess it depends on your environment
My apartment would make Andre the giant feel normal sized

@ThomasPornin pls leave the city of the creation of Techno alone.
DOVID DOVID DOVID, I'm willing to show you the track again.

20' ceilings and 10' high doors
@Simon Uhmkai

5:02 PM

@DavidFreitag HNNNNNNNNNG

@Simon Which track?

Ah damn it, I forgot about that.

@MarkBuffalo It's bloody massive

Say My Name.

5:05 PM
@Simon Reminds me of EXGF

I bet the girl who's singing would annoy me though.
This one has a really nice tone so I guess that's why.

You should look up EXGF and play both songs that google has
I've linked them in here but I think you never listened to them
But they are very similar to this

Idle Hands makes me want to drown in a puddle of melted snow.

soz

5:07 PM
The other one is better anyway

Yeah the Hearth one is gud.

@Simon okay - I like that

@RoryAlsop :D

(don't tell anyone)

Deal.

Hearthstone made me spell heart "hearth".

The thumbnail makes it look EDM-y but it's not.

I'm doomed.

@Simon Never played Hearthstone, and I don't ever plan to
Watched someone strim Black Dessert last night tho
Reminds me a lot of GW2

@DavidFreitag If you dig card games it's legit as F.

5:12 PM
@DavidFreitag needs more guitars in that mid section, but also very nice

@Simon I only play card games if I'm physically incapable of playing a computer game, or there is literally nothing else to do.

o

Or I suppose if a lady asked me to play cards

It's really nice to be able to play a game sat down on your couch on your laptop though.

It's tough to say no to them lady folk
@Simon Stardew Valley

5:13 PM
starwat vallwat

Farming Simulator 2k16

lulz

It's a game that is about making money and forming relationships

Is that Farmville?
Do you get a kick out of farming games?

It's like Farmville and LoZ had a baby
@Simon This is the first one I've played. It's very much like LoZ, Pokemon, etc. and as such it's a great timesink.

5:15 PM
I'm trying to stay away from timesinkers nowadays.

DH backdoored ... or not...

I also watched someone strim the Japanese version of DS3 last night

@DeerHunter ohai

@DavidFreitag - hullo there!

5:16 PM
oi

I'm pretty badlocked

@DeerHunter Oh don't you even dare to say that again.

Sshh... @Simon - that's why I typed it

o lawd

@DavidFreitag good we can feel useless together

5:18 PM
"Ways to generate a non-prime DH modulus to create a NOBUS backdoor"

@DeerHunter hmmm
@ThomasPornin Thoughts?

@MarkBuffalo - probably not much

@MarkBuffalo What is the question?

@ThomasPornin Do you think sometimes?

@Simon Occasionally.
When the fancy gets me.

5:23 PM
Ok I'm glad we made that clear.

3
Q: Why does a non-prime DH modulus creates a "NOBUS" backdoor

David 天宇 Wongcan't we do a nobus backdoor with DH modulus prime? Some have argued that with a prime modulus you can just get the order by doing p-1 and then factor it, thus it is easy to reverse. I argue that this is not true. The prime case Our modulus is a prime $p$ such that the order of the group is $p-...

@diagprov - thanks!

OK, thanks to Google I understand the acronym:
NOBUS, short for "NObody But US", are security vulnerabilities which NSA thinks only NSA can exploit. As such, NSA sometimes chooses to leave such vulnerabilities open if NSA finds them, in order to exploit them against NSA's targets. NSA has a dual mission of both attacking foreign systems and defending US systems, so keeping significant vulnerabilities which affect US systems secret is a conflict of interest. You look at a vulnerability through a different lens if even with the vulnerability it requires substantial computational power or substantial other attributes and you have to make the...

Way to stretch an acronym, sigh.

The answers on crypto.SE include decent information.

5:27 PM
It's a god damn conspiracy of people making retarded acronyms.
Back in my days, we would stick to clever acronyms such as "yolo".

Though there are subtleties, depending on whether you want the presence of the backdoor to be undetectable or not, and whether you want to keep some "plausible" deniability.

@Simon - IAGDCOPMRA

@DeerHunter I am good dogma camel orifice peperoni Madagascar realer alligator
3

@Simon yes. Yes you are...

@Simon - you may be an alligator but you are NOT A BUS.

5:30 PM
@DeerHunter Unless you reverse the name of his car...

@DeerHunter #NOBUS
@RoryAlsop Haha.

@Simon SUBARU

ZRB?!?!?

I'll get my coat

Yeah I'll escort you to the exit.

5:31 PM
@RoryAlsop - an alligator skin coat, no less.

:O

@DeerHunter classy, sir

@RoryAlsop - since all Rorys are one and the same, you need but one coat.

A butt coat?
FINE, I'll show myself out.

TIL
Kleptography is the study of stealing information securely and subliminally. Kleptography is a subfield of cryptography and cryptovirology, and is a natural extension of the theory of subliminal channels that was pioneered by Gus Simmons while at Sandia National Labs. Kleptography is also related to steganography. Kleptography was introduced by Adam Young and Moti Yung in the Proceedings of Advances in Cryptology—Crypto '96. == Kleptographic attack == === Meaning === A kleptographic attack is an attack which uses asymmetric encryption to implement a cryptographic backdoor. For example, ...
Must be a mighty insult: 'You, sir, are a kleptographer'

5:50 PM
...is the study of stealing information securely and subliminally.
I thought it's an interrogation technique where the subject is asleep and revealing secrets through dreams

@DeerHunter Well, I know I suit alligator skin coat. How about you, @Rоry 2?
@DeerHunter that's a new one on me as well :-)

6:01 PM
@TildalWave Very easy if you're perceptive enough
People can often be tricked into giving you information without them realizing it, or when they do realize it after giving it to you, they freak out visibly
Sometimes all it takes is a few pieces of a puzzle
(One of the things we train people to be aware of)

@MarkBuffalo "we" as in "the NSA"?

Tldr: social engineering

yeah I know that's the whole point of social engineering
bah

Nah
@TildalWave baha

you ninja

6:10 PM
I love social engineering :3 such good fun

Thing is, even people trained against social engineers will inevitably fall victim to someone who is really good at it

@Simon The hell is that? Reminds me of a mis-translated Bollywood music video that I can't remember the (wrong) name of.

Some people are shockingly good

Bahaha haha that one box

6:13 PM
@MarkBuffalo If that cracked you up, you'll love the video.

I love bollywood

@kalina The difference is I don't feel useless.

@Iszi It's my processor misbehaving.

@Simon punish it.

So it would seem my grandfather is ok after his triple bypass, but they are forcing him into a retirement facility

6:17 PM
@Simon I would say it looks like your passphrase, but that is way too strong for you.

@DeerHunter "Christopher Soghoian, Principal Technologist and Senior Policy Analyst at the ACLU's Speech, Privacy and Technology Project, has pointed out that these exploits are not NOBUS, in that anybody else can discover them at any time.[1]"

Which isn't altogether a bad thing.

@l1thal Nah, I'd only punish someone for buying an A/T Mustang.
@AviD o lawd

Ummm... isn't that wrong? The point of NOBUS is that nobody can exlpoit the vulnerabilities but the NSA.

@Iszi EXLPOIT MASTER RACE

6:17 PM
@Simon So he'd be fine with purchasing a mustang that isn't A/T?

@l1thal Sure.
The 90s Mustangs are kewl.
So are the 69s.

@Iszi ha.....hahaha.....hahahahahahaha

My friend has one
But he moved away. Or I'd show ya

The nsa is really a collection of glorified script kiddies

@MarkBuffalo Well, unless somebody else has a "basement full of Cray computers".

6:19 PM
@DavidFreitag well, at least he's okay

@l1thal How would you show me you donut?

@MarkBuffalo Trooo

You think someone else isn't going to be able to do what they do? There's nothing special about it

@Ohnana I mean as far as I can tell, that side of my family is useless at communication

@DavidFreitag ah

6:19 PM
@Simon What flavor?

They're just able to throw money at problems

@l1thal SOUR CREAM CUZ U SOUR SON

@MarkBuffalo You'd think the taxpayers would be ready to cut that off by now.

But the money they throw at problems makes our own country insecure. Our companies, etc
And they are all exploitable

6:20 PM
@l1thal om nom nom

And the sad thing is, they don't realize the Chinese have been exploiting that for the last decade
If not longer
Because if they did realize it, then Hanlon's Razor would no longer apply, making them malicious in nature. And I doubt they intend to be

I can't decide if I like the fact that I've developed a reputation for being relentlessly roasted for every other thing I say or not xD

I feel like sheeeeit

@DavidFreitag everything okay?

@MarkBuffalo 3 hours of sleep
So, yes. Everything is normal

6:23 PM
I tried this Dream Water last night

dafuk is dream watur

It made me fall asleep fairly well, but I woke up at 4am.
And I felt refreshed as it promised but... 4am.

@Simon Water. Ordinary water. With a spoon full of puuure LSD.

I feel bad. Here's me. 6 pm, go to bed. Wake up at 10, stay awake for 2 hours. Go to bed. Wake up for like an hour. Go to bed. Wake up at 7:30
Refreshing

6:25 PM
@Simon @DavidFreitag It's Ordinary water with a spoon full of pure LSD.. AND a whole ounce of MDMA

They're having an engineering meeting without me :[

@DavidFreitag ;o good or bad?

@MarkBuffalo Good hopefully

@DavidFreitag rip you better update your CV

@Simon Haha, no it's not like that
The CEO is having a meeting with the two heads of the engineering dept

6:27 PM
@MarkBuffalo - d' you mean you hail from another part of the three-lettered family tree? :P

Regarding a meeting we had with an engineering company on monday

@DavidFreitag - one dept, two heads -> confusion

@DavidFreitag they're discussing your bon...

@DeerHunter never worked for the government. Except tribal government
@TildalWave bonfire?

@DeerHunter Well technically it's two departments. One is software/pcb stuff and the other is systems related. Chassis design, subassemblies etc.

6:28 PM
@MarkBuffalo - the ones inside the beltway are a tribe unto themselves

@TildalWave huehuehue

@MarkBuffalo - weird ceremonies, hill casinos, and all that

@MarkBuffalo He meant boner
It's like my subconscious always knows when it's time for me to do a presentation
Sends all blood away from my brain

@DeerHunter yup. So you know. INDIAN?
@DavidFreitag I thought he meant bonus pay

@MarkBuffalo I only get a bonus at christmas

6:33 PM
bonfire boner bonus bondage

@DeerHunter Yes that sounds like a very fun afternoon.
I wish sublime was installable with apt and I didn't need to add a custom ppa

according to Wiki...
> In Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria and Slovenia, bonfires are traditionally lit on the evening before May 1, commemorating Labour Day
what a load of bull
it has nothing to do with labor day, except that it shares the same day
bonfires were lighted here to signal that the Turks were coming
labor day my ass

@DavidFreitag so what is even the problem?

@kalina That you go around on your soap box telling everyone that I have no idea what I'm talking about

@TildalWave "The beacons are lit!"
@DavidFreitag I need more than a soap box to be the same height
and actually I believe the only thing I've said to that effect was "IIRC you had issues assembling"

6:48 PM
5 hours ago, by kalina
no, @DavidFreitag doesn't know anything

oh the engineer joke
you'll have to get over that, I've been watching too much big bang theory and howard being only an engineer is a running joke

@kalina yes, lit not lighted ... anyway

@Adi I can guarantee you won't spend anywhere near $3k euro on a pc and it will be an absolute beast

@TildalWave I was quoting LOTR
@DavidFreitag everybody has already told him that, way to copy us all...

@kalina I wasn't here at the time, I just wanted to make sure he knew that

6:52 PM
@DavidFreitag oh so are you saying that without you saying it, it hadn't really been said since you're the "expert" and the rest of us are travelling nomads?
that's quite interesting with the amount of bellyaching you've just done

@kalina No, I wanted to make sure regardless of what input I had that @Adi doesn't spend 3k euro on a computer

it kinda ticks me off whenever I see how easily the rest of Europe "forgets" that they were nearly run over by the Ottoman empire if it wasn't for people here that stopped them so Vienna snobs can drink their newly acquired posh brew and reminisce of their greatness

@DavidFreitag yes this is quite an important point, especially since the difference between a PC costing 1000 and 3000 is largely down to weight from all the added heatsinks than performance

@kalina Or the difference between buying parts and assembling it or buying a prebuilt.

ew
I didn't think prebuilt was even on the table
I thought that's why he asked if I was able to build my own PC, to rule it out as an option

6:54 PM
@kalina Hence I didn't want @Adi going out and dropping 3k euro

well dropping 3k euro is only really similar to dropping 5k dollars
and as discussed earlier dropping 1k dollars creates a nice thud
with a minor bounce

Which is really like 4x as much as you really need

dropping 5k would make a larger thud, or indeed multiple thuds if they're in separate bundles
do you feel less slighted by me now I have responded to you?
as I kind of need to leave

@kalina Well $1k is going to be based on what gpu you get
@kalina Yes

good, bye

6:57 PM
o/

enjoy whatever you get up to in the next 4 days

you too, I'll probably just be sitting half naked staring at a tv

Q: Where to store a pepper?

Nate KerkhofsAssuming you're using a pepper in your password hashing, where should it be stored? I know you shouldn't store it in the database since it can easily be found there during a dump and the idea is to have something stored outside the database, but can't you make a similar case for storing it in you...

Answer to title question: I keep mine in the kitchen cabinet, next to the paprika and the cumin.

xDD @Iszi That's exactly what I thought when I first saw that title.
