AWRIGHT, WHO BROUGHT THE REGEX INTO THE ROOM??
4436
A: RegEx match open tags except XHTML self-contained tags

bobinceYou can't parse [X]HTML with regex. Because HTML can't be parsed by regex. Regex is not a tool that can be used to correctly parse HTML. As I have answered in HTML-and-regex questions here so many times before, the use of regex will not allow you to consume HTML. Regular expressions are a tool th...

(even though you werent talking about HTML, its still worth a mention...)

@AviD I'm going to say no, I can't.
It's by far an easier answer.
Essentially, I know that to implement something like that I'd need to use file system mini filters to catch all the IRJ_XYZXYZXYZ you get in procmon
and I can build the ddk samples and work from there
but I've never done it in anger before
so I'd be feeling my way along
12:45
@Ninefingers hehe, "never done it in anger"? yeah, I could see that situation....
well, okay then... sorry to bug you about it.
figured that, as uncommon as that is, you'd be the guy to do it. (guy? I'm just assuming... ;) )
13:12
@AviD yep, guy. If it were normal win32 I'd say yes without hesitation, as I've delivered win32 apps just fine. I'm reasonably confident I could do it given sufficient time to learn and would very much like to go in that direction, but it sounds much like a role for an experienced done this a few times kind of guy/gal.
But don't worry about bugging me - s'not a problem, I'd like to do that kind of thing. I just want to make sure I don't set unrealistic expectations about my abilities!
I decided a while back I didn't know nearly enough about how my computer worked, so I've been working through OS theory in my spare time, reading books, internet articles, docs etc. I'm at the stage where I think I know enough to know where to start actually meddling in anger rather than just trying little things - so I was in two minds about saying no.
@AviD That could be an issue. There are people who could, but I somehow doubt they're as common a php developers, say. I'm going to work on building a basic procmon in my spare time just for the educational experience... :P So, if you haven't found anyone in a couple of weeks, I might actually know quite a lot more :)
13:41
@Ninefingers excellent! keep me posted...
yknow it doesnt have to actually be a fully functional procmon, or a functional anything, just that you know how to, i.e. you know all about the minifilters and such, and other core APIs for internals and such.
I have a feeling that's gonna stay open for a few weeks, anyhoo, since as you say they're not as common as php scripters
(yeah, I hesitate to call the unwashed php masses, "developers" ;-) )
13:57
@AviD They are pretty well indistinguishable from developers....
14:15
@ScottPack you mean "distinguishable"
or didja mean "extinguished"? cuz that would be wrong.
No, I'm pretty sure my spelling was spot on :)
ew
I just read that replacing it with 'extinguished'. It sounds a bit....vulgar.
then that doesnt make sense. Writing PHP is very different from developing software systems ;)
@ScottPack really? I usually spot that, but extinguished doesnt sound even remotely vulgar to me. Even joeying it doesnt really work...
14:27
@AviD in fairness it does depend. Proper php frameworks use MVC etc (kohana for example).
15:14
@Ninefingers that may be so. And yet it still feels improper.

Anyone ever use something like this? pwnieexpress.com/eliteplug.html Looks like one nasty little beast.

So quiet in here. It's like everybody's busy working... or something.
@Iszi Perhaps everybody is busy telling him/herself that it is very quiet today.
@ThomasPornin And I decided to be the dork that actually announces it, eh?

@ScottPack "Kid"? Really? I thought we were about the same age?

Heading out now. Catch y'allz on the flip-side.
was it something i said? :-)

Probably
evening @ThomasPornin

@StefanoPalazzo Sort of. I was interested in decisions you made in the design and implementation.
@Iszi It's not as hard as it might seem, at least to get a basic understanding
