[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] retailcoder is checking what fun stuff @Duga can say about project cards

that leaves #4492, #3645, and translations under TODO for v2.3
I'll try to slip some more false positive fixes in though
assuming the thing builds, 2.3.0 is on track

6:19 AM
We're getting real close to wrap up the 2.3.0 release - time to update the translations for all the new resource keys! Rubberduck doesn't speak your language? Fork us and #contribute! #OSS #translation #helpwanted

EDIT: (After installing a new browser as our ESR version of FireFox suddenly stopped working with GitHub...)

I think multiple ReDims can be completely sensible. How else would you implement a dynamic array?

@Comintern or at a minimum, a great way to have a question removed from SO

@M.Doerner That's not a problem. The problem is not having the initial Dim statement.
Without that, you have get lot of strange behavior in spite of Option Explicit

[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] Vogel612 is bored so why not move a project card

bulk operations on issues are in the wrong order :/

12:55 PM
whoops

Ugh, stupid WP mobile app only lets me reorder sidebar widgets... will update later (& tweet the target date)

@this just to be clear, that would be IsChaoticEvil, right?

@FreeMan ChaoticNeutral

@MathieuGuindon There's a resource missing on the AC form for #ConcatMaxLines - is that a build thing, or is it legit missing?

Could be misspelled
hmm yeah IIRC I renamed that key

It's' the header over the number picker.

Yeah it's possibly still MaxLogicalCodeLineLines in the .resx

Huh. Looks like it's missing entirely. What's the text supposed to be?

1:23 PM
wtf
no, not that lol
> Maximum lines
should be good enough

OK, back in.

Hmm is that the SettingsUI or the RubberduckUI resx?
I moved a bunch of keys to SettingsUI

That's pointed to Settings.AutoCompletesPage.

Makes sense
I noticed a bunch of keys that needed to be moved - will address after the translation PRs are merged
@rubberduckvba Spanish ongoing! 👍
time to get stuck in traffic

[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 3ce37919 on unknown branch: AppVeyor build succeeded

@all I should point out that we should have a code freeze before releasing 2.3. I mention that because we have a number of open PRs, and some are good to have in for 2.3 (esp. Max's rewriting PR). However, we have a profound lack of intergration tests so we would be relying on meatbag testing to ensure everything is all good.

time for a release branch?

That would work, too. We would have two syncs to do but it shouldnt be that long lived anyway.

just need to make sure to have it in the AV build step
and we really need to fix the WPF / RESX / WinForms build before we can rely on AV builds for release.
My CPU Fan replacement should arrive before Friday.

Make it generic? Avoid modifying it all over for 2.4.

1:53 PM
AV currently just builds on next, master and on PRs into those

yes i was suggesting creating release-candidate rather than release-2.3 in the yml
re wpf issues Need to get Iven to retest comintern's latest PR and fix the missing }
when i did those, i was able to build

:+1:

It would be nice to get the rebuild action working reliably, but that's not a deal breaker for release.

fwiw thers a subtle difference between a rebuild and clean + build
id rather clean + build and avoid weird quriks that arises from rebuilding
(even on old format, i have found that rebuild isnt all that reliable with RD)

[rubberduck-vba/Rubberduck] build for commit 184d32a6 on unknown branch: AppVeyor build succeeded

2:04 PM
@this Fair enough, although if we want rebuild to be clean + build we should be able to do that, no?

no, because MSBuild
it's a separate target.
and I'm pretty sure we can't overwrite builtin targets

Right, I was thinking more of a custom pre-build action for that target. Although, TBH I'm starting to clean before build by habit at this point.

waitaminute, they have a Rebuild target apart from Clean target?

yes

Hmph. And they wonder why they can't do anything with MSBuild. Hint: it's overengineered.

2:21 PM
Wait wut? There's a Microsoft product that's over-engineered?!?

You can subscribe to the repository on Github as an intermediate workaround. I don't think subscribing to a list for pre-releases is a viable idea, the feed volume seems unreasonably large.

Additionally whenever you start rubb

@Duga hmm ... I wonder whether it'd be rude to outright delete the repeated "Thank you"
because quite honestly: it doesn't bring anything useful to the issue..

what I'd like to do is just disable the email feature. This seems to encourage misuse and more problems.
if GH was kind enough to autodelete the quote in the reply (which admittedly is non-standard and thus will fail), it'd be less of a issue. The issue of saying thank you again is a separate from the email, though, but it's compounding it, I think.

@this the email feature itself is pretty useful for people that don't necessarily like the GH user interface
it's basically a backwards compat thing for mailinglist discussions and archives
I wouldn't want it for myself, but I can appreciate that someone else might be very much used to dealing with mailing lists or something similarly email based and having that avenue of interaction for them is really useful

2:31 PM
I figured that, yes. But including the whole reply with the quoted body? That sticks out like a sore thumb.
and frankly it shouldn't be broadcasting headers like that, either.

@this and this!

Now, if you consider that they use emails, they'll use it like well, emails. In that scenario, repeated thank you might be common in a email chain.

yea. I'm actually slightly annoyed that they didn't use my moniker as the email sender name

^^ or is that me

But entirely useless on a web page's thread.
IOW, the different interface encourage different behavior. What Mike did there was very normal thing to do on an email chain.

2:34 PM
true

@FreeMan feeling a bit referential today, are we?
@Vogel612 BTW FYI - I've always seen you as Clemens Lieb via notifications.

you're getting email notifications?

uh, yeah.... I thought everyone in the org did....

because GH inbox doesn't even tell me who did something.

um

2:37 PM
I set my notifications to go to my GH inbox
I don't get emails

ah, didn't know of that. it's going to my gmail.

I turned emails off too.
Just the Notifications panel for me.

on GH, you're Vogel612. But via emails, you're CL.

Because of the sheer notification volume I have watching like four repos for my job alone and me just outright deleting the emalils anyways...

I assumed it was something to do w/ the user profile

2:38 PM
It's just much less of a nuisance

Understandable.

also I'm watching a repo that generates and closes pull-requests partially automatically and they usually go through two PRs a day on slow days and 30PRs a day on not so slow days...

that'd be fun to trawl through in email inbox.

dismissing 50 notifications for one repo is much easier than manually deleting 50 emails interspersed between useful emails for something else
and I do get more than enough annoying and unnecessary emails anyways, soo ...
totally unrelatedly: there's still websites out there that have error messages including "please do not use the browser's forward and backward button"
ffs.
the correct answer there is "I don't, I'm using Alt+RightArrow / Alt+LeftArrow"
the web is a garbage dump

Hm, I get an email for everything
I must have 200+ notifications on GH to dismiss

2:49 PM
if you get emails, I think you don't get GH notifications

I don't think so. I get both.

oh but I do =)

TBH I didn't even know about GB inbox.

I think you can set it up both ways. Email, notification, or both.

@Hosch250 yeap. it's checkboxes, not radiboxes, which is nice

2:51 PM
Used to be dropdowns, I think.

There was discussion earlier about using ReDim x() without having previously used Dim x(). I thought that was weird, but, well, here's a living example!

@MathieuGuindon the one at WP still shows 2.2 on April 8th?
