I need to walk my dogs. I'll be back
whooshy-whoosh

I need to be places as well, so I'll leave the general steps here
1. Find F_T1.
a) Find the normal force on the table block
b) Find the frictional force on the table block
c) Use Newton's Second Law to show that F_T1 = friction force
2. Find F_T2
a) Use Newton's second law to show that F_T2x = F_T1
b) Use trigonometry to find F_T2x in terms of F_T2
c) Pluggy pluggy to get F_T2 in terms of whatever is in that F_T1 equation
3. Find block weight
a) Use Newton's second law to show that F_T3 = F_T2y
b) Pluggy pluggy to get F_T3 in terms of whatever is in that F_T2 equation (trig required)
c) Use Newton's second law for the hanging block to show that its weight force = F_T3
d) Solve for weight of hanging block. Pluggy pluggy may be required

Avi
isn't theta irrelevant
ya ya
looks good
no thetas

Finding F_T2x & y in terms of F_T2 requires theta & trig
and I must away poof of yellow smoke

Q: Getting to a target in the fewest possible steps

CecemelFirst of all, this is my first question here. I know the title doesn't really say anything but I really couldn't come up with anything better. Any help with finding a better one or adding tags is appreciated. Thanks for reading through all of this in advance. A little background: I play a game ca...

Have you ever played the mobile game Flow Fit or Flow Fit: Sudoku?
The former is about assembling letter tiles into crosswords (which gets frickin hard when the level features all single-shape tiles), and the latter is about assembling digit tiles into some kind of generalized latin squares

I have not played it, sounds fun though :)
@JohnDvorak If you really do strongly object to singular they being used as a pronoun, I don't mind being called he or she instead. Either one is fine.

The grid in Flow Fit: Sudoku roughly works like this, and I think it will be interesting to combine such grids with existing Latin square genres e.g. Easy as ABC or Skyscraper (unless it's already done before)

Avi
idk
to me it seems to have nothing to do with the pulley
unless that's a string with constantly changing theta

@Bubbler That's a really nifty idea, I like that.

Avi
11:48 PM
in which case I'd be out of my depth
and you'd probably need a lot more measurements lol

@Sciborg John has a bigger problem with anyone using "u" instead of "you" or "y" instead of "why"

@NorthLæraðr Ah, I gotcha :p

John has a problem Understandbly so

user478740
Any luck with this MADDENING word?

user478740
THE TORTURE OF @msh210

11:54 PM
The C4? Nope, I spent my dinner discussing it with my puzzle buddy and he was equally baffled.

I haven't tried yet

nothing here

user478740
I "saw" your possibility about sawing music. Bad pun, I know.

It was an interesting idea I think, but again after a long Google rabbit hole I have no idea how it could fit.

The definition definitely can't be an old- that makes no sense
Well, actually

11:55 PM
yeah, either "an old saw" or "an old saw ends like this"

I'm thinking of "An old saw ends"

dang, i have a lot to backread. HAHA

Alternatively, my puzzle buddy had a really funny idea that I hadn't even considered - "Saw" as in the horror movie

hm, I'm not sure how "an old saw ends" would work
@Sciborg wouldn't be allowed - it would need to be capitalized in the clue

@Sciborg I actually had the same idea
Oh :/

11:56 PM
Ahh, okay
ffffs

Something like a sawtooth or blade, in the sense of a cutting edge (literally)

Hold on, I think I might have the definition
CLICHE?
Noun: old saw (plural old saws)
  1. (idiomatic) A cliché, saying, or overused expression; especially a proverb or maxim.

Six letters though.

the answer is five letters long

Oh I can't count

11:57 PM
And he said nothing we had suggested so far was it, so we rule out IDIOM, ADAGE and MAXIM

user478740
Even ALEXA is stumped

@Sciborg Okay
Good to know
TRITE, perhaps?
Wait is that a noun?

not as far as i know

Nope, only an adjective

user478740
Nope

user478740
11:58 PM
Google says no

@Anonymus25 Alexa is no match, we need IBM Watson

user478740
Hmmmmm

TROPE is a synonym
