My big brother was bright, smooth and fat
I'm just as bright, but slim and matte
The how changed, why stayed the same
To paint a picture time and time again
What am I?
In my place time has stopped
time may fly but i will never grow old
I am used as evidence of the past
people may mention me with pride or discussed
I am not the one to blame , to what i was born to be
but the person who pulled the trigger , gave birth to me.

I don't think anything's wrong with "note" for A-G or do-ti either. I think the US is well enough known worldwide that it's not unfair. Pretty sure I've seen e.g. "city" (rather than e.g. "American city") cluing "NY" in reputable English newspaper crosswords too.
That works OK here (though it makes the clue easier, and it was pretty easy already) but sometimes you need the surface reading of "state" to be something else...
A noise vibrates through my ossicles,
the hairs on my neck stand like bristles
at the thought of nearby threat,
my palms and forehead start to sweat
But I'll stay calm, I am no fool
I am able to keep my cool
Even though the chambers, four,
I know none of them have a door
I am not scared, th...
Half a pence for my domain,
On a face I can be found,
Keep me and appear quite sane,
Green and growing on the ground,
Or in a basket with my friends,
A block of wood behind,
Where all of us had met our ends,
The verdict was unkind.
What am I?
Help! I just moved houses into an area with many mosquitoes. However, I haven't been outside all week - ever since the first bump appeared on my skin. What's happening to me? Is this some weird sort of allergy?
Capital city that matches [A-H]+,
take out the first four and then add deux cents plus;
crossing the Danube, you make your way north;
stay on that route till the coastline comes forth.
Apply s/A/H/ and then scramble what you get,
take out your oars as well, try not to get wet;

Teacher gave us a cipher to decrypt for fun. I've never done cryptography or anything related to decrypting ciphers. This is the cipher.
The only hint is as follows:
This is what i've done so far and gotten nowhere:
One for one, two for two, three for three…
1 + 4 + 1 + 2 + 4 + 2 + 3 + 4 ...
Like a Pollock am IAlongside never, forever and reality I lieWith a small twist I am an excuseWithout said twist I am no useIf these clues make your answers fall shortA hint most deserved will aid your effort
Identify me.
I'm new to sodoku puzzles.
I tried solving the one above but my last move was flagged as a wrong move(highlighted red).
I believe it is a false positive since the "6"(highlighted red) I inserted is unique on the rows and columns as well as within the small square.
Can someone justify this for me?
After a Halloween party with four guests:
All guests took a coat and a hat of another guest (i.e., every one took a coat and a hat but
not their own).
No guest took a coat and a hat from the same person.
A took the coat of the person whose hat B took.
B’s coat was taken by the same person who t...
I can not be stretched, though it may feel like it.
I am important for a lot of things: I am relevant for music, for sports and in my absence everyday life would fail.
I am expensive. Some people consider me one of the most expensive things there are.
When I become too little, most things will b...
Ok so I have this cipher which I have no idea what to do with. I have tried most substitution ciphers I know of and still have no idea. Brute forcing with frequency analysis also yielded no results.
Sorry I'm a bit of a beginner when it comes to this.
Here is the code in full; obviously please d...
That damned uncle of mine! Running out without telling us has become too commonplace in our house. I did manage to find these two nonograms and a note this time though.
"Fear not nephew! I am going to a place where I will finally be a winner! Don't spend too long on this puzzle, you may h...
