"Power play" is a sporting term used in many various games.
== Temporary numerical advantage in players during a team sport ==
In several team sports, situations arise where following a rules infraction, one team is penalized by having the number of players on the field of play temporarily reduced. The term power play is commonly applied to the state of advantage the unpenalized team enjoys during this time. Specialized tactics and strategies can apply while a team is on the power play.

The powerplay in cricket is different. It simply means that out of 9 players fielding(excluding the wicket keeper and the bowler(Think of bowler as pitcher and wicketkeeper as the guy who stands behind the batter in baseball), only 2 players are allowed to remain out of the x-yards circle.
Cricket is similar to baseball. Think of it that way. The batsman can hit it hard. If you catch it, he is out. So, you would want to remain at the boundaries to catch them.
@Beastly and @Tech Well well well, this game has become infinitely more interesting.

And, um, no. I have enough things to waste my time on ;)
so if you're even slightly clever you can avoid having to actually count and you can just see the difference between hour-group breaks and page breaks
turns out because votes were being cast as I was tallying, my last count was wrong for the first 12 hour group, by the seven votes that were cast as I was counting. I noticed at that point and accounted for that so my other tallies were accurate.
