Q: The Boy of Fire: The Final Battle

PerpetualJWelcome to the final part to the Boy of Fire. If you haven't read the previous parts you should do so prior to beginning this one. I've decided to take a different approach with this one as I've noticed that I'm better at truly fleshing out a story than I am writing the entire thing as a riddle. ...

Puzzles not being terribly good hasn't stopped people yet.
Also, why teapots? That seems really strange to me.

3:58 PM
Apparently (this is allegedly quoted from Wikipedia) "The 'Teapot Game' is a word game described by Mary White's Book of Games, and involves guessing a word which is replaced by "teapot" in various sentences."
So "my first teapot" etc. doesn't really fit with the usage in that game, but the connection is there

Q: A journey in technicolor!

PerpetualJI woke up this morning with an incredibly strong urge to watch television. This isn't normal for me as I usually drink coffee and read the newspaper. I know, boring right? Q: Use 2, 0, 1 and 8 to make 199

tomAssemble a formula using the numbers $2$, $0$, $1$, and $8$ in any order so that the result equals $199$. You may use the operations $x + y$, $x - y$, $x \times y$, $x \div y$, $x!$, $\sqrt{x}$, $\sqrt[\leftroot{-2}\uproot{2}x]{y}$ and $x^y$, as long as all operands are either $2$, $0$, $1$, or $...

The teapot game was rather common here. The German Wikipedia has a whole page about it, but references what Gareth quoted as origin of the name. It's about two people thinking of a teapot and then making the others guess. They take turns to describe their teapots, .g. A: My teapot can fly; B: My teapot smells nice, and so on, until the word is guessed.
It's an okay game for a group of children, but it doesn't really carry over to being posted. It's a bit interactive, because the setters can adopt their clues according to the guesses made and try to lead the guessers astray.
The same applies to the lateral thinking puzzles where there's a naked man in the desert with a half-burnt match in his hand or some such: These work in groups, because they are interactive and the guessers get closer to the solution gradually. Just posting the premise here doesn't work; you either know the answer or you don't.

20q?

^ Wot? Have I fat-fingered my posts again?

I think John is referring to the popular game "20 Questions", which is fairly similar to the teapot game you describe.

@MOehm yes, please

Is it okay if I post the first letter like Gareth did in order to simulate the process of getting crossers?

that's fine with me
obviously I can't speak for anyone else

Yes, but I'll be gone any minute now, so a simple majority of just you will have to do. :)

please allow us to assume we're correct if you'll be leaving for a while, too
if, say, a few people think the posted answer is reasonable

24h-ish C4 hint: The first letter is F.

5:58 PM
huh
i was assuming the first letter was C

Well, I'll only be away for this evening, but the AZ sum is 115.

when you say that, is A 0 or 1

okay. thank you :)

No, I've looked again. The first letter is an F.
What made you so sure it would be a C?

5:59 PM
i believe you. i just though "first class" was going to give me a "c" to start off the word
so "appear" inside "first class <maybe island>" == <maybe island> destination
