I was ready to knock your socks off for once with that drawing...

n_p, talking about the water-color?
2
(had to sorry)

@n_palum ...I don't get it.

I'm joking

n_p was working on a drawing that would knock your socks off, the one I believe that had water dropped on it

@Forklift ...it was black and white...
it wound up grey...

7:02 PM
greyscale now, eh?

(the joke was the "water" part)

lol, beat me to your own joke

@Deusovi Wat

@n_palum "watercolor" was a joke

I think BG suggested I turn the mess into a puzzle still... it ripped anyway

7:04 PM
you planning to redo it or not?

@Deusovi Oh yeah I get that.. you said I don't get it I thought you meant my edit and I was explaining the wink was me being sarcastic
I think I'll give it another go but I may wind up with something different
I was debating asking if anyone wanted to give ideas towards fun concepts and I'd be happy to incorporate them... makes drawing easier - I'm better doing stuff for people than thinking off the top of my head
@Forklift I didn't even get notified someone went and edited my puzzle... there was no point to what they did...

@n_palum same

@dcfyj Well I mean for drawing specifically :P

I meant in general (although I suck at drawing)

7:19 PM
@dcfyj inspiration? how about creating a puzzle that uses story traversal similar to a choose your own adventure story while also providing clues to its correct path within the story?

That would involve being creative enough to come up with a cohesive story. AKA, not me lol

fair play. I've been mulling the idea around and I'm almost ready to punt :)

I've a puzzle in the making (it's been sitting around for months) I'm finally nearing completion on it
It probably won't be done tomorrow, but I think maybe early next week.

don't you dare post it when I'm not at work

I very very very very very very (did I say very?) rarely get on when I'm not at work myself, so...
@Forklift Have you seen my other puzzles?

7:23 PM
@dcfyj I'm on just not as active when off work... I wonder if that'll change when I I'm done here and go back to classes come last August

I have not. I came here after your last posting

@Forklift I knew that much, I haven't posted anything since... (going to go look it up)
March

@n_palum Show me a dictionary with ffao in it!

@MikeQ LET ME MAKE A JOKE

No jokes for you!

7:25 PM
D: D: D:
@ffao for what it's worth LOADED is a notable word but I couldn't find a fun non notable to be its counter

@MikeQ ????

@Deusovi np made a thing, and I made fun of np

Shiro's not an english word :P

VIP is 3 words and New Jersey is 2

Q: What is a Notable Word™?

n_palumIn the spirit of the What is a Word™/Phrase™ series started by JLee, a special brand of Phrase™ and Word™ puzzles. If a word conforms to a special rule, I call it a Notable Word™. Use the examples below to find the rule. $$ % set Title text. (spaces around the text ARE important; do not rem...

7:32 PM
it's a Notable Word if it's in the same column as Notable. QED

@Rubio Have any blackouts recently?
Man. I have got to do something about these blackouts I keep having. — Rubio ♦ Jan 11 at 15:33

@Forklift Words must be independent

@Forklift Dang you're good at this
@dcfyj Like physical? Or loss of power?
7 mins ago, by n_palum
@MikeQ LET ME MAKE A JOKE

@n_palum Go look at it np

I'll let someone else take the credit. You can post the answer, Mike. :)

7:33 PM
As I recall, it's something I posted long before you came to this site

@dcfyj :O that's fun :P

Looking at older puzzles can be informative and/or fun :)

I've done that but there are so many

most of mine are ciphers and/or steganography though

Damn, I had an idea but LUNCH broke it

7:37 PM
The ones I like best are my desert wanderings though ^^

My puzzles are like 50% bad, 25% attempts at learning something new, 25% me screwing up and 100% making Deus mad

@Sconibulus This is why you should write things down
@n_palum lol
Well, actually that spot might be taken by my minesweeper one, kind of a toss up
Minesweeper took a long time to make though...

@Sconibulus you may be right... I refer to my I'm dumb statement
It's edited - Lunch is notable

after Lunch broke it I saw that New Jersey also broke it
so I think I'm probably still wrong

Agh you're right, that's why mississippi confused me.. I wrote those in backwards

7:41 PM
lol.

Should it be Mornin' or Mornin?

I'll assume a puzzle
'

...wait, I solved it?

Probably

It's Mornin'

7:42 PM
I make the same mistake of typing things in other locations and then transferring them wrong to here
@Sconibulus Depends what you think it is though
Yeah...... D:

Wow that was fast @scon

Lion->Lioness+the title pointed me that direction almost instantly

I wanted to start on an easy one to help, but didn't think it'd just give it away D:

I didn't expect it to either :)

I went "double letters" nope. "just double consonants then" nope... I'm stumped.

7:44 PM
Mornin' would probably have been a big clue too

I started with numeric properties but then the apostrophe appeared and so that didn't work

Those were surprisingly difficult to come up with...

yeah, you don't get A or E

@Sconibulus that was more of a panic, "oh goodness I am an idiot"

@n_palum It's ok, I don't get it even after seeing the answer

7:45 PM
@dcfyj Notable word = Contains at least 1 of ABCDEFG

@dcfyj Musical Notes A-G, each one has at least one of those letters, not ones have none of them (which is the hard part)

ah

incidentally, Notable is a Narcissistic word :)

lol

8:23 PM
@dcfyj Not lately. :)
The best part is, I was slow to respond to you because I was seeking inspiration.

@Mithrandir Got 'em both.

Great

FGITW :)

:P

8:36 PM
They keep recreating the accounts no matter how many times we destroy them. At least only one actually got around to posting the spam...

Oh, Gareth destroyed a ton of those accounts that just never posted the spam.

userids will roll over 32bits soon at this rate :)
speaking of spammers, hey it's @n_palum

D:
leaves

I mean, I only see two spam accounts from these people on SO.

8:39 PM
It is weird they hit us so much

I'll keep watching the new users list...:P

@n_palum ....no.

@n_palum O_O

leaves again

^ Fattest Giraffe in the World

8:43 PM
@n_palum -1 Shiro is not notable

but +1 ffao is, so it evens out?
I note that Rubio is Notable. *flex*

Is '0' an even or an odd number?

Even.

@ffao shrugs

Wow he's really phat

8:47 PM
Evenness is defined as being twice an integer. 0 is twice an integer, therefore it is even.

That was one great Great Dane.

I should stick to making easy puzzles, I get too anxious when they're not solved in 2 hours

Man. That Liger is ridiculous. It's, like, a pony!

Mhmmm
@ffao Or just make bad easily solvable ones like me

9:06 PM
easy doesn't mean bad
there is such a thing as too easy, but I think you're far from that line

Q: A Game Of Cat And Mouse: Part 3

F1KrazyPart 2 can be found here. The puzzle is contained entirely in the quoted section below - the rest is just fluff. Sorry it took so long. "The Field Museum?" repeats the superintendent. "What would El Gato want from there?" "Sir, I went there with my wife the other day," pipes up one of the oth...

Q: I'm Dashing and Sassy

Rubio When I'm by myself, I'm dashing and sassy: two in one. If you exchange my right for left, then your sticks and stones may hurt my skin. Remove one of my parts and I'll be dependent on you, but you won't mind. Changing my tail can change my appearance; that can be an extra benefit. If I...

That look on-topic to any of you?

No
Why isn't there an off-topic close reason for simply just being off-topic?

Well. That one might benefit from close -> off-topic -> belongs elsewhere

It's too old to migrate, and is already on reverse engineering though

10:14 PM
As for simply being off-topic, "Other" with a note saying that (and why) is probably polite, so the asker knows why.

10:30 PM
Reverse engineering can technically be a puzzle, but since Synology did not create the algorithm for the purposes of being a puzzle there's a possibility that the answer is highly non-trivial (e.g. a fixed unknown string is added to the salt)
In puzzle terms, that would be saying that there's no real clues to the solution
