But usually I think normal users aim to get their basic outline upvoted, then a mod comes in later to work out the details
@mousetail Yeah exactly
It's like a two-step process
Just saying equal representation is important. Even if mods should not have influence they do.
And it's typically a mod who goes in to work out the details since handling annoyiong details is kinda what they're there for, and people don't tend to care too much about those
Exactly
We need people not from code golf responsible for handling a proprotion of the annoying details
Not sure I really agree there
Or they'll all get a systemic bias
15:02
A systemic bias toward what?
the system, of course
that's what a systemic bias is, right? :b
Not sure if you're serious but no :p
Just having more experience with esolangs and golfinglangs as opposed to practlangs
It's not like we're robots
Robots could not be biased, humans always are
15:03
CGCC people don't lose the ability to reason about and prioritize praclangs
And what would bias toward a particular type of language even impact?
No, but they are still biassed just by the knowledge they do or don't have
Like, it's not like we'd be banning asking about praclangs or whatever lol
> Robots could not be biased
This is definitely not true
Racial bias has been demonstrated tons of times by automated things, especially ones based on machine learning
Bad grammar, it's possible to contruct a robot that's not biassed theoretically. A human can not remove bias from themselves
For example a mod might choose to delay delete a off topic closed post because they personally view the subject matter as interesting.
@mousetail Right, I have plenty of practlang experience. Barely ever golf in esolangs.
@mousetail That's not really a task for mods but ig I see what you mean
I don't think this is a big deal at all tho
15:07
Just one example, but if you are subtily biassed it will effect all of your tasks
Yeah and ^^^^
Tons of CGCCers don't even use esolangs
I did say I wanted Adam on the mod team
@RydwolfPrograms It is before any user gets 2K rep
I give it 24h :p
Wait I forgot there's a rep cap lol
I give it 240h :p
We can all give you bounties to bypass the rep limit
We'd all have to agree on who to give the bounties to tho lol
And it'd have to be someone we agree won't be mod
Someone we like but don't like that much :p
("like you?" would be a great reply to that :p)
15:13
like lyxal?
Nah if lyxal isn't a mod I'm revolting :p
I read that as "revolting" as in "ugly" and was briefly very confused
an evil witch placed a curse upon you that turns you into an ogre if lyxal isn't elected mod
Relevant for this community: Programming Languages Festival! (Feb 2024):

@Adám 50K is a big ask
@mousetail That's actually not very much to run a conference.
Apperently I already watched one of his videos
How long has the kickstarter been active yet? 1 month is not a lot of time to collect this kind of money
Dyalog conferences are 5 days (vs the 2 here) and cost €2000 for the full package.
@mousetail 0 days, I presume, with 30 days to go of the month.
They ask for less than €500.
Ticket price would be reasonable for a established conference
There are some big names to I guess it makes sense
Getting 100 people to sign up is the hard part
16:28
How much time is a mod expected to put in?
Adam seriously considering being a mod?
Yes.
It didn't feel right to replace CG mods that had left because of stuff, but this is a new site.

5 hours later…
21:03
Today.
Maybe like late night here.
