It seems evident that this is too broad. Perhaps your criteria could be tightened up, but instict tell me the answer you want is probably a list to pick from. This is harder to formulate that most recomendaations because you aren't going to want just one per-se that gets the job done, you might move through the whole list over time and new ones might be added. This is an inherently bad math for the SE pattern. — Caleb 7 mins ago
I think the answer pattern here is a clue to a problematic question format.

at least doesn't meet the answers guidelines
@Amaterasu remember that you have to wait till someone that knows what you are talking about read the question so you can get an answer ;)

@Caleb yup: lacks a purpose

You need to explain in more detail how this meets the requirements in the question. What are the pros and cons of the software? Is there a particular feature implemented really well? Answers that consist only of a link may be deleted. — Undo 33 secs ago

I think that's pretty much par for the course on game questions

@Braiam that wasn't the issue
@Izzy nah, I'll look elsewhere

10:04 PM
@Undo why not delete outright?

Q: How are we going to moderate answers?

SethEveryone has already agreed if this site is going to work we need to have really high quality questions and answers (especially the answers). This leads to the question, how are we going to moderate low quality answers? I mean: When should we delete answers? When should we downvote? ...

@Gilles Because I figured that he hasn't really gotten a clear comment that he needs to improve it.
Should we?

@Amaterasu So you don't like us/this site? Sure you won't come back later? Sorry to read that. And we tried our best, gave our hearts... sniff

@Undo mmm, reading the question again, it doesn't call for much more in an answer
I don't quite get that question
Oh!
> animate people: Moving, talking, waving, etc
so that's the point

@Gilles oh god...

@Undo no

10:07 PM
@Gilles Nuke it. Answerer had a warning on Feb 18, and didn't react on it. I don't see why he should suddenly change his mind. He's been warned, anyhow.

imagine that you had just posted an answer and it got deleted, that's not a good user experience
(unless of course he's already been clearly warned)

@Izzy It wasn't exactly a clear comment, though.

> How Scratch meets OP requirements? – danijelc Feb 18 at 10:09

@Gilles I'm still catching up on meta. Seems like you identified that as a common issue already. That's going to throw the rest of things way off kilter if they get a free pass without a purpose though.

@kalina is an old answer and there is a comment since long ago...

10:08 PM
@Izzy that's not "clear"
we have two well written meta posts that clearly define what a question needs and what an answer needs
"clear" = user has been linked to them

@Undo No? OK, you say, you're the mod :) To me, that's a clear hint I've missed something in my answer. And it also states what I missed.

not some broken English five word nonsense

@kalina Huh? If I comment on your answer, you get a notification.

I'm indifferent

@Izzy that's not what we're discussing

10:10 PM
you think it should get deleted?

@Braiam @Undo's comment is clear

@Izzy if I stay, I would have just written crappy questions like the closed one, and wasted time asking for help

Give it 2-3 days, if no action has been taken after a clear comment, delete it

Well, OK, I shut up. Not my decision anyhow. I abide the community counsel :)

@Gilles @Undo in the event a user sees an answer that has received such a comment and the answer hasn't been fixed, do you mind if we flag them?
and if so would you rather have a custom flag explaining "user was left a comment X days ago, hasn't updated their post" or just NAA

10:12 PM
I'm fine with either, but @Gilles is the veteran mod ;)

well the way I see it, NAA involves you doing comparisons = more work
"has this been commented on"
"how long ago"
etc

@Amaterasu Don't feel like that. In Germany, we have a nice saying (I will try to translate it): "So far no master has fallen from the sky!" – i.e. nobody was born a professional to anything.

@Izzy That user hasn't been back since before the first comment was posted.

we could say he was just a drive by user?

I agree we need to keep on top of moderation, but just nuking stuff without providing people the opportunity to fix it after clearly advising them something is wrong just doesn't seem helpful

10:14 PM
@Caleb Oooh, good point

@Caleb Granted. How often are those "mail reminders" sent out? I rarely get them, as I work my notifications frequently.

@Izzy 24 hours if you didn't read the global inbox

@Undo Yes. But if I get a notification, and don't "swipe it out" (or react on it), I get a mail for "open notifications".

Q: What are our canned comments?

BraiamNow we are public, that means a bit more traffic and lots of people asking and answering. Which leads to the boredom of having to write a comment each time something is wrong with a post. So, do we have some canned comments for both questions and answers?

@Undo See Braiams message ^^

10:15 PM
I have never once seen this notification

answered 15 feb, last time online 16 feb, comment 18 feb...

@kalina I did. Once. After I took "a day off" :)

@StackExchange Adapt the proposed close reasons
with the links and everything

@StackExchange feel free to write what you already have

@Amaterasu Who said it was crappy? It was just missing a lot of detail. If you want to respect the people who put time into analyzing it and might be able to answer, the thing to do would be to edit and flesh it out with the requested details. Once the situation is clear it can be opened up and folk can contribute. Also the process of editing along the requested lines is likely to lead you closer to an answer anyway and you'll be better able to recognize the solution when you find it.

10:16 PM
@Izzy it's a moot point, I am gone and the question (that I ws told was okay) is closed, and asking for help here will just irritate people

@kalina for answers?

Guys, you're saying that this is too broad yet it hasn't had a new answer in 10 days and there aren't really any other games to add to it
I see no problem with it
@Braiam yeah

@Caleb well, to be honest, I would not know how to flesh it out
doesn't matter now

we have a separate meta post for answers to link to
so the links need changing over and the posts need adapting a bit to mention answers instead of questions
apply a consistent level of quality to everything ftw

@Braiam Shall I post the ones from my canned response script for those who don't/can't use it?

10:20 PM
@Izzy yeah... make it a CW so we can tweak it, I will put a json thingy after we flesh them out so everyone can use the comment helper instead of copy-n-pasting ;)

@Braiam the script I've linked has an export/import feature for that :)
Shall I export, and put the entire thing in one answer to edit?

is up to you, I would see how it goes
btw, which are our trusted users?

we have no trusted users yet
requires 3k
hmm
I think 3k is 10k tools

@Braiam OK. In case it gets to long, we can split it anytime. I have site-specific stuff in my script as well, so not all strings will be for here...

wee... we don't have even people with access to the mod tools

10:23 PM
nope

2k

either way, no trusted users yet
right, I have got to get me some food
before I waste away

Olli & me are probably closest.
@Braiam btw, how can I make a long paste pre-formatted without indenting each line manually? Any idea?

<pre>stuff</pre>?
or select everything and press Ctrl + K
@kalina I'm ahead of you :P

Stupid me, found ou... yeah, exactly :)

10:27 PM
@kalina depends how obvious it is. Actually, ideally, these should be deleted through community votes, as VLQ. But the VLQ interface kind of sucks because it lacks guidance.

@Gilles you think SE could get us personalized VLQ canned comments?

@Braiam IIRC even Skeptics hasn't had any success requesting that, but I might be confusing that with custom post notices

@Gilles So you're skeptic we get any either #D
That's what I use (and Angelo as well). Gives a nice "auto" link next to the comment field, which you click to get the above. As the screenshots show, on questions and on answers you get different sets.
See here for the current full list :)
@Braiam when editing things out of my post, remember that cannot be merged back.
An import into the script is always a "replace".

@Izzy I left only what we could get here
"thanks" and "me too"'s are general of all SE sites

@Braiam Yeah, and I see the idea behind it. But in that case, it might need a "warning" to those using the script and going to re-import :)
And since you also removed the §§§ lines, you've made everything "global" (i.e. for users active on multiple sites, they will see it on all of them). So they should be warned then. I'll put in a comment.

10:46 PM
@Izzy somehow mine doesn't :P

in Charcoal HQ, 36 mins ago, by hichris123
Hmm... I should do a flag barrage.

apparently is using the localstorage

@Braiam Doesn't what?
(post updated)
@Braiam Yes.
And it's not all mine (forked it from StackApps).
(Added site-specific settings and the $MYUSERID$ thingy.

11:35 PM
@Braiam hm?
This question hasn't had a new answer against it in a week, the initial influx of answers has been steady at 7 since that time, this is hardly grounds to call it "Too broad" in my opinion. — Flyk 25 secs ago

1 hour ago, by kalina
right, I have got to get me some food

I'm quite disappointed in the outcome of that
@Braiam yes and it was delicious!
om nom nom
what food did you have?

read beans soup

I had chicken and cheese in sandwiches
because... nom

@kalina we are trying to have balance between recommendations and stuff, you see that in comments nobody expected for them to be so common ;)

11:42 PM
regardless of the comments, there weren't even enough answers to automatically turn it into a community wiki
that question is perfectly acceptable
IMO the line for "actually too broad" should be drawn at "post automatically converted into CW"
7 answers is not "too broad"
especially when 5 of them were posted by 2 users

yeah, I know, I was looking at it and looking at the requirements it seemed correctly scooped but I didn't expect them to be common (and I know 3d games focused on puzzles ain't really common)

that's not justification for closing it
None of the answers posted by GnomeSlice would have even been posted if I hadn't been trying to get Arqade on board with the idea of game recommendations
This comes across more like people having an issue with game recommendations than anything else to be honest

user58869
hey kalina

morning Alex

well if we see the game tag, only that one is closed, I don't see a pattern

11:50 PM
@Braiam we'll see how it plays out. Out of all of the game questions that's the least deserving to be closed.

I could find out, but if I do that, it will just get closed as too broad again
like I said:
17 mins ago, by kalina
I'm quite disappointed in the outcome of that

nah, that console wasn't as popular (in US)

Wow, it's kinda jarring when you mod-hammer a question to close it. The whole page refreshes and does strange things.

and OP wants it to be PAL (PAL is US right or europe?)

11:55 PM
@Undo What is a strange thing?

@Undo Good luck with modding! From what I've seen you are the right guy!

@Undo it does too when you close stuff without the review queue :/

@Bernhard thanks! It's a huge learning curve, but I have the right help.

Same for Gilles, but I see him already at every site in the network that I join ;)

@Braiam no, this time the page did weird scrolling things and refreshed like three times.

11:56 PM
@Undo I believe so, hope you can combine it with SO modding ;)

@Bernhard boo!

ahh, they picked the mods. Congratulations @Undo @Gilles

there's still at least one slot and hopefully 2 or 3 left open

@Undo =:-0

11:57 PM
@Gilles Ah, he is everywhere, have to look over my shoulder now ;)

@JourneymanGeek thanks!

@Gilles: I think its typically at least 3, but that'll wait till the elections ;p

@Gilles True, just checked that

(also, you guys get the constable badge ;p)

11:59 PM
I think this will need at least 4, since it will need a strong moderation before graduation

@JourneymanGeek only if we both stay in for a year / until the site graduates IIRC

Talking about badges: I wonder I didn't get the mortarboard. rep-capped right on the first day.

@Braiam the email said that more diamonds are coming, so we should get some more within a month or two.
