A: Should we be more tolerant of qualitative questions?

Michael HamptonThe "not constructive" close reason is being removed and replaced with: primarily opinion-based Many good questions generate some degree of opinion based on expert experience, but answers to this question will tend to be almost entirely based on opinions, rather than facts, references, o...

@MarkHenderson You've seen the new close reasons yet?

@MichaelHampton I have
I like them

I mostly like them. Though I had a feeling something was missing. Then I figured it out: They got rid of "too localized".

11:13 PM
@MichaelHampton It was rarely used, no great loss

11:33 PM
What other new ones are there?
Is there "this is too stupid to be allowed to exist" ?

The OT close reasons are customizable per-site.
So yes, in theory, we can have a "You aren't a professional" close reason.

nice

@MichaelHampton That needs to be phrased carefully.

@freiheit I was planning to write it as "GTFO HOME USER"

@MichaelHampton As long as you don't use the ambiguous "professional" term...

11:49 PM
Oh, I hang around here. So I have absolutely no idea what a professional is.

@MichaelHampton Neither do most people. I'm fighting with a company at the moment because we're accessing their SOAP services, but their service fails when we add the SOAP namespace to the document. They want us to remove the SOAP namespace from the document, and I getting shitty with them on principal
I will probably end up caving, but wtf? SOAP service that doesn't accept the SOAP namespace

@MarkHenderson Developers.

anyone here migrated from vmwre to hyperv/scvmm yet?

I tested Hyper-V but I have no plans to use it seriously.

@freiheit "But I'm a IT professional!! I develop code in VB5!"

11:53 PM
Visual Basic? That's what they teach grade school kids!

@MichaelHampton WHOA I learned C# thank you very much

@MarkHenderson wut? From hyper-v on ws2012?

@MichaelHampton dont ask

@pauska Hyper5/SCVMM to ESXi/vSphere
We gave Hyper-V a good shot because it was so much cheaper than vSphere but after 3 years I got jack of it and moved to ESXi

@pauska I'm going to be taking a more serious look at OpenStack...Red Hat is starting to push it as a lower-cost alternative to vSphere

@pauska No, from 2008 R2 to ESXi 5
And it was a nightmare thanks to a dumbfuck ESXi 5 bug with the VMWare Converter

@MarkHenderson ok, that makes more sense
