I don't get to play with enterprise hardware much
Raid saves you when a certain number of disks dies
not from say, randomware or someone going "rm -rf /important_dir/* when he meant *.log.1
you won't have any data loss with up to 2 dead disks - assuming a third dosen't die when you're rebuilding the array (why wait that long?)
but it won't save you from something that's done system level
