@Adrian oh my yes!
@Zypher Im gunna have to teach you :P But I agree with the sentiment of the artical
I hate it when people call me about nothing (my boss is the worst offender)
lol
@MarkHenderson actually most people don't even have phones here :)
@MarkHenderson Yeah, the social workers here usually use the phone because they don't want to take the time to open a ticket. They usually get the answer that deserves.
and even those that do ... don't use them (besides sales and some others)
@Adrian open a fucking ticket?
@Zypher Yes, but with fewer nasty words and longer pauses for it to sink in.
23:07
haha, yes yes of course, be nice to them :)
@Zypher everyone here has an extension. Most of us have phones. Voicemail goes to your email anyway.
@Zoredache I forgot, you gonna be at CasITConf this weekend?
@voretaq7 We have a great VoIP system in our office, we only have three physical phones for those that take calls from customers, everything else is softphone. But phones are an inescapable issue when you deal with public customers.
My Lord... I'm becoming a SCCM evangelist (*kill me now)
Anyone else seeing those two chat flags? I guess something has recently gone down in The Bridge again.
23:12
Yes, I will be there. I will also going to the the Limoncelli Time Management session.
@MarkHenderson we allow (and I encourage) softphones.
@l0c0b0x How is that working out for you?
but VM-to-email solves 99.9% of our problems. Including "getting support calls into the ticketing system after hours"
ok, food and exercise time. laterz.
Its neat once it works. There's like 4 different ways of getting FEP to work, so the fun part is trying to decide what's the 'best way'.
I'm yet to get to 3rd party software updates though.
Just read that Limoncelli Test you guys were talking about earlier. Good stuff. Never seen all those things put together in one quick, easy to read guide. Some stuff is pretty fundamental but assuming different levels of knowlege and experience it's a great read for every one.
23:25
@AaronCopley yep - it's a great resource
Are we starring for jinx/near-jinx now?
Are we starring for jinx/near-jinx now?
@84104 Haha not quite, it was just amusing
@WesleyDavid Nice try. Except you get a star just cos its "star wesley" day
@Zoredache Sweet. Warning: Ugly photo with grumpy sysadmin game face: roadsnw.com/images/photo.JPG
@AaronCopley, really interesting stuff, thanks for sharing.
23:30
@Adrian Whiteboards FTW!
@MarkHenderson It's just that I've seen the behavior twice today.
Oooh! And he's going to be in town April 7.
@Adrian groovy sweater dude ;)
@WesleyDavid I pissed off about 1/3 of the agency when I ordered that thing. TOTALLY outside the list of commonly-ordered items and 4x the size anyone ordered in about 10 years.
@l0c0b0x my GF has good taste. =)
I want a wall, floor to ceiling, the whole wall... whiteboard surface.
23:32
@MarkHenderson it's always star Wesley day
5
@AaronCopley We have one lab who's walls are all whiteboard paint.
@AaronCopley I want to wear clothes with whiteboard material
@voretaq7 OMGBBQ I miss that feature from my Cisco VOIP at Big Blue.
They make whiteboard paint? BRILLIANT!
@Adrian Which feature?
23:40
@l0c0b0x Hah... that might back fire. "Oh no! We're out of whiteboard space!" "You! Go stand at the front of the meeting and don't move for 6 hours while we chart metrics and future growth potential."
@MarkHenderson VM>Email. Espeically for when I was telecommuting.
@Adrian Ahh yes. There are only two extensions that have voicemail in our office - the boss and the customer support line :p
Everyone else can suck it
Actually, talk about white board space... we have a bunch of those smartboards, so we save everything that is written on the board. Unfortunately, I was born to type, so I don't tend to use whiteboards that much (...but probably NEED TO)
WHITEBOARD ALL THE WALLS
I have a buddy that does sale and integration for conference rooms. He's a big proponent of smart boards but I've never really messed with them. I really need to go see a demo...
23:49
Damn. I thought there'd been video of the LISA Limoncelli Test presentation at LISA 2011. No dice. =/
It's so well written, I don't know what more value the presentation would add.
Maybe the Q&A would have been interesting.
@AaronCopley True. Perhaps the choir already gets what they need out of it. I need to send my peers to that. =)
Friends post screenshots on Facebook.

Still using XP.

Don't call me when your unpatched, unsupported OS gets a copy of the latest SUPER SPYWARE VIRUS BLOCKING MEGA SOFT!
@WesleyDavid Especially after it hits EOL. Not long now!
@WesleyDavid Bill them at the usual consultation hourly rate
23:57
@MarkHenderson It's on Extended support as it is, so consumers aren't covered.
@Joel Sadly, everyone knows I cut my rate to half off for friends and family. However, most of them still don't like $75 an hour. =P
@WesleyDavid And roll on 2014 when it's gone forever. It was a good ride, and it was a good friend, but it's time to move on to Windows 7. Seriously.
@MarkHenderson You should use the most professional OS ever conceived: Windows 2000 Professional. Trusted by IT pros for over 10 years.
@MarkHenderson Is XP even getting updates from the microsoft repos anymore? Isn't it just for SA customers?
@Joel HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY CP/M?!?
No one listens to me.
@WesleyDavid You know, Im starting to think that discontinuing it in 1983 was a bad idea. LONG LIVE ZILOG 80
@Zoredache I miss my quad-core 8GB workstation, I'm working on 1/2 the power now on both RAM a CPU :(. Can you just surplus it to us? :)
