@MarkHenderson Yeah, I hate job searches enough that one of my acceptance considerations is whether or not I could see myself at that company for 10 years. Even if I don't make it that long I want to be able to.
@MarkHenderson For me it's more of an overhead concern. For a proper FTE (as opposed to contractor) I typically assume 6-9 months before we can start getting full value out of the hire. Makes it hard to justify the time involved in hiring if I'll only get 1-1.5 years out of somebody. Especially when I was with the Uni where a hiring cycle might be minimum 2-3 months.
@mossy Nice. Don't overthink whether you're "smart enough" for a RHCE, look at it the other way around: Rackspace needs a certified engineer and are willing to put time and resources into educating you to be that guy
@mossy While that is nice, in terms of "ease of access", I rather like having to go off-site for training. That sends a clear signal that I'm "off-limits" and preoccupied with something else than my coworkers petty problems
There is an old joke. Mathematicians are cheap: they only need paper, a pencil and an eraser. Philosophers are even cheaper: they don't need the eraser... runs away before the philosophers come... — Stephan Kolassa4 hours ago
I've been trying for a long time to get our company's mail server send mail that will get accepted by the GMail spam filter. I have managed making it work for Yahoo Mail and Hotmail, sadly GMail is still marking our mails as spam.
I have configured DKIM, SPF, DMARC and verified our mail server I...
So, I keep thinking it's my wireless adapter on my desktop at home causing my latency woes
Which is strange since pings to the router are fine...but, when I did a ping test from my phone (yay terminal emulator), times were normal at the same time I was running the desktop test.
The OP had taken another answer's contents and re-posted with their minor changes and marked it accepted. I encouraged them to instead make the edit to the original answer, so the answeer would get credit for the work. Surprisingly, they did it.
I was thinking of having one policy per printer and then using the targeting to say which machines should have them...not sure if that's the right way to do it.
I can't look at the GPO for our sister site because they have ONE print queue.

Is there a reliable way to re-format a "get-" command into a "new-' command? I have piles of Exchange settings that I need to apply to a new Exchange environment
There are lots of fiddly details when running get-managedcontentsettings. I can certainly use a text editor to manually copy-and-paste, but in some cases I have to insert quotes, etc
@MDMarra It's tough for the ladies because if they want kids they can't wait forever.
But I don't have a solid career and she hasn't really started on hers. I don't know how we could be economically stable enough for anything that serious.

Mathias R. Jessen got me pointed in the right direction, the ever famous WinSxS folder. However I did not see any of the VSS errors in the Event Log which made me a little hesitant to just nuke all the NTFS permissions lest I break something else.
I went back and read Event ID 513 TechNet refere...
@kce Sorry about the short comment, but I've actually seen the exact same behavior on a dozen 2008 machines for which we have backup responsibility. Anowho, your answer is a much better summary of the troubleshooting process than I would ever have had the patience to write. +1
@TomW I'm not a regular user or administrator of *nix systems, but if I have to choose a general purpose linux distro, be it for server or client, I'd pick Debian
I'm a Windozer
Did that make sense ? :P
@kce did the error actually say "Cryptogrpahic Services"?
Well, in that regard, I am a non-expert user :) I run a number of websites off apache httpd and nginx on Debian, for various purposes, but mainly for "staying sharp" by exposing myself to challenges outside IIS, which is my Web Server of Choice in any professional setting :)
My USB webcam is precariously mounted on the desk I'm using. The clamp damages my monitor; Better lighting etc. etc.
Works like a charm but all that is needed is to vertically flip the picture for use in Skype, G+ Hangouts etc.
I am at a loss as to how this is accomplished in Ubuntu 11.10.
