@JennyD he may
but probably not
I told him to put in a ticket
"Stick it up your ticketqueue!"
@JennyD, how's your new job so far?
Dan
Dan
@JennyD Aren't references normally done before an offer is made?
@cole Probably the best answer - you're being polite and correct and still making the person go away and stop bothering you :-)
@JennyD :)
He's difficult, and no one likes working with him.
That's most of the people we have here, to be honest.
@DennisKaarsemaker It's good. I'm conslutting as sysadmin at the state employment agency thingy; there are good people around me and the systems aren't very challenging but at least they're a different set of systems
13:12
Especially my coworker whining behind me
@Dan Yes, I was thinking about a written reference and/or the next time Cole looks for a new job
@JennyD sounds like nicely coasting along with enough time to breathe. Good score :)
The Network Engineer position has been open for 6 months now here. They can't find anyone.
@DennisKaarsemaker indeed - the challenges here are political rather than technical, but then I've found that's true of most large organisations, whether private or public
"You guys use Avaya switches?" "yeah, nope"
Debating if it's worth spending the $800 or so on the Aeron chair for at home.
or $400 on this knock-off type one
13:18
So gaming.se is still on about that Chinese Food music video.
in The Bridge, 38 mins ago, by LessPop_MoreFizz
@Wipqozn The scene at the bottom of the stairs at the end seems like it implies she did more than just hang out with the panda, IMO.
@cole there are plenty of used ones out there (bankrupcies)
Dan
Dan
That's a lot of money on a chair @cole, how often do you spend at a desk at hom?
@pauska oh good point
@Dan a lot.
I'm a PC gamer.
Dan
Dan
Ah
Plus, I'll be going back to school soon.
so...homework and crap
13:22
@cole Given that they can't be arsed to spell 'Elevetion' right...
Dan
Dan
@cole Really can't see the appeal of that
lulz
13:32
...$400 for a chair? damn
@NathanC sitting in a $900 chair right now at work
I have a $40 walmart chair at home...lol.
@NathanC I have a Staples chair that hurts my back and butt
I have a $100 Staples chair that I got back in 2005. It's...ok. The padding could be better.
My back hates my chair at home
After slipping a disc in my back - I definitely need to invest in a better chair
13:40
I've got a good chair at home, that I got from $EMPLOYER[-2]. But I'm thinking of paying for a backapp.eu/en to use at work.
@cole Chopper's got the $3k chair I want. =|
$3k!?
@cole It makes quite a lot of sense, really. His secret lair is contained within a dormant volcano. At that point 3k for a chair is really just a rounding error so you might as well get a good one.
Ah makes sense
@JennyD Those chairs look...interesting. Too bad they don't ship to the US.
13:56
@NathanC I had one at the previous employer. My riding trainer said it showed that I got better back muscles about a month after I started using the chair.
@cole Apparently they've dropped a bit in price... Only $1400 now store.hermanmiller.com/Products/Embody-Chair
Hm. Probably because it forces you to actually use your back muscles to have a straight posture so you don't fall off the chair lol
I'd be pissed if I bought one two years ago for twice that price.

Q: exchange 2007: how to send as an other email address?

Luigiexample.com is my domain but I want that an other user can send email as microsoft.com. How can I do ? I have exchange 2007. I tried for hours without success, please help me. I tried making a mail contact with new-mailcontact command. But when I have to set the "send as" privilege I dont find t...

I'm holding off on the close votes on that one until someone says otherwise.
@ChrisS oh, I sat in one of those at my old job when they were looking to replace the conference room chairs.
I didn't like it
13:59
@NathanC It's not just that - the chair wobbles ever so slightly, so you end up moving around a little all the time.
@JennyD that would probably be very good for my back
I need to strength my core muscles to help with my back issues though
@cole It made a lot of difference for me. I'm starting to get a back ache again now, four months after leaving that job.
@JennyD too bad they don't ship here :(
The other trick to get awesome Herman Miller chairs are to find damaged ones. You should then be able to file a warranty claim and get the repair parts.
Also, the SAYL is surprisingly comfortable.
14:23
morning
Good Morning!
I've had an eventful week
Looks like I might be called out for strike duty to conduct trains
Dan
Dan
Do you have the relevant qualifications..?
Sounds like a fun little distraction from administrating
@Basil Do you have the uh...training?
=P
14:28
@NathanC I see what you did there. And yes, I do :)
@ChrisS To be honest, I'd rather be administrating... I am good at this
Think I'll be told I'm mean in meta?
Please understand my comment isn't meant to be surly, and I'll delete it after you edit your OP. Right now what you have is a great story for us. I say this because there isn't any error codes, blue screen images (links due to your rep), ticket notes from the MS ticket, event logs, hardware specs, what was happening when it started experiencing this, etc. to go off of. It would be a bunch of guesses at this point without that info. If you can modify your question with that info, it could help the experts, otherwise there's very little to go on. — TheCleaner 44 secs ago
It smells like bacon in my office, and that's ok
@cole Get a Herman Miller Mirra chair instead, I think they're way better than an Aeron - and I had one of those for years
@Chopper3 and cheaper, hmm thanks
@TheCleaner I think that's appropriate. Better than "shit question, VTC"
lol
14:35
@TheCleaner 'go take LEARN2DIAGNOSE 101'
@MikeyB I tried to be Professor X on it but when I got into the OP's mind all I found were videos of cats and stale cheerios.

What's better than new toys? FREE NEW TOYS! SmartWatch 2, biatches.
Dan
Dan
@NathanC Yeah, especially because, fi nothing else, he has put effort into asking - he's just presented the wrong things
@TheCleaner edit it to start "once upon a time"
@Basil You wouldn't want to be at the controls when you hit a bus either...
But it's not every day that you get to hump a rail car!
14:40
@TheCleaner GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!1! ...
>.>
@JennyD - I get your wanting to close the Exchange send as question, but there isn't technically anything wrong with wanting to send as another user, even another domain, provided you have legit business to do. It's not common though, so I get your point.
@NathanC I have the gift.
Oh, and my fun task for the day (since I wear all the hats right now)? I get to replace a hdd in a macbook air running BootCamp that only boots to Windows 7.
@TheCleaner Well, I could equally well have gone the "must understand basics" vote...
Yeah, I figured that was insinuated as well.
I may have been slightly grumpy.
What do people think about using failover clustering with IIS rather than NLB?
14:48
I think my manager is surprised I'm still actually doing work
Any tickets that have come in, I've been doing - as well as this project task that I know will never get done unless I do it.
@NathanC Clustering wouldn't allow you to split the traffic between the members, just one server would host each site (or whatever unit clustering allows, rusty)
@ChrisS True...my goal is to allow a site to stay running should I need to bring down a server for whatever reason. I have SQL clustered already.
So if you're only going to have two servers anyway, I suppose it doesn't really matter, though you couldn't take advantage of working hardware to boost peak capacity...
Performance isn't as much of an issue...just availability.
It's a PITA because the websites I'm supporting are applications that have their own installers and various things with them...so everything has to be exact and I repeat installs and configurations for each setup
This apartment is in the house next to mine: zillow.com/homedetails/113-Dean-Ave-A-Franklin-MA-02038/…
weird kitchen, but still better than mine
14:52
@ChrisS heh, I wouldn't be working on the hump yard. Which, by the way, is the most awesome name for a yard.
As I do reading it seems without it being hacky it's not very possible....mm...
@cole What someone did to that kitchen should be a crime. A beautiful Craftsman/Arts & Crafts first floor, then some hideous cheap sterile kitchen....
What is this guy so butthurt about meta.serverfault.com/questions/5888/… ?
@ChrisS agreed
My driveway is literally to the right of that house
moving would be easy, no truck needed! :P
but I only pay $725/month for rent however that's a lot more space
Kitchen kinda sucks though, that's what sucks about my current place. I really just want a better kitchen
@Iain I don't know but I'm glad he is. I'm so tired of the idiots who think we owe them help/assistance/answers...
15:01
@ChrisS yeah I was going to engage him in a conversation about how SF isn't and newver was intended for an $randomJoe on the internet but I cba
I have an osx 10.6.4 machine I need to redo, but no DVD. If I "get" the ISO image is that good enough? Meaning where can I get the existing license/key on the mac? Or should I ask on the apple SE site?
@Iain He flagged his own answer there with gibberish about negativity and downvotes. I declined the Flag asking him to make sure his flag reasons make sense next time...
this place...just makes me laugh
I feel like I'm doing my SQL Server setup wrong...I might be able to get a prod/staging/dev environment on a single instance. Currently, if I want a new instance of SQL Server I have to 1) set it up as a failover cluster, 2) give it a unique name, and 3) give it its own IP address...
Learning experience for sure...
Speaking of butthurt people needing a clue, is there anyone else that's a serial help vampire that needs their question list analyzed?
oh. mornin' gents.
15:12
I don't really understand how operations manager does its scoring either. Like, it'll score a server really low for using ~50% of its RAM.
@Magellan sup
@NathanC i.e. penalize it? Yeah, if the server is only using 50% of it's RAM than it should only have 50%.
SQUEEZE ALL THE THINGS
2
ALL BLANKET STATEMENTS ARE WRONG
@cole mornin'. Autumn has arrived in Seattle. 10mph wind and "foggy" because the cloud deck starts at sea level.
@MikeyB Oh, so it scores for "waste" eh?
@NathanC I have no idea. Just speaking generally.
15:14
F-CK YOU MXLOGIC!!
I always thought it was a good thing to run the host up to its limit...since you're paying for the hardware anyway.
@ChrisS eh?
Both of them are ~85% right now
554 denied -> look it up on their website, "The error message “554 Denied” means that we have rejected the message as spam. This is either due to the content of the message or the reputation of the sending IP address." <-- And that's the whole of their reasoning/explanation.
@Magellan our weather has been odd, per usual lately. Very foggy this morning - currently 57 degrees here.
15:16
@ChrisS Ah. No additional information in the message header as to why it scored so high?
@TheCleaner Yeah, just make a bootable USB. You can extract the DMG from the ISO.
I know MXLogic used to put that in the email header.
@Magellan Nothing. Hence the F-CK YOU MXLOGIC
Seems to me like I have tons of unused RAM lol
@jscott OK, I'll try it out and see what happens.
15:17
@ChrisS support.mcafeesaas.com/MCAFEE/_cs/… (not exactly SUPER HELPFUL but at least they have a procedure)
@ChrisS That's irritating. I haven't been a user of their service since 2012, but it had worked amazingly well for job[-3] for many years.
Of course, they're owned by Symantec now, yes?
@MikeyB Yeah... My quote above came from that page
@Magellan McAfee
@ChrisS Right. I've been waiting for them to slide down into mediocrity after that acquisition.
Hello Everyone
Dan
Dan
Hi, James - you have no idea what you're talking about or what the OP was asking. Additionally, you answered on a 4 year old question that had already been answered. — Dan 52 secs ago
What a dick
15:20
pls help I am not log in my server it shows error “Authentication Failed” Error When Logging In?
5
anyone?
@GaganVERMA Starting with "pls" is just about grounds for banning you from the room.
Dan
Dan
@GaganVERMA Yes, that's almost certainly caused by "User Error"
gooby pls
@tombull89 wat?
15:21
@GaganVERMA You have a problem with recursivity. Call back if it happens again.
@Dan Probably a 13 year old.
@MikeyB oohh I like that one...
Dan
Dan
@Magellan I thought about appending "Welcome to ServerFault", but thought better of it
@ChrisS eh it's a rather poor meme
@GaganVERMA This is NOT a place for 'Live Support', ask on the main site.
@GaganVERMA You probably have a bad password. If you insert your credit card into my mouth, I'd be happy to assist.
@NathanC That doesn't change the asking in here though.
Fair enough.
@GaganVERMA the most likely causes are PEBKAC, error ID ten T or employment failure.
15:23
I need to start making a chart of who's active in the room when the Sock shows up.
"If you experience an authentication error lasting longer than 4 hours, please seek IT's assistance immediately."
4
Unfortunately, the comms room can help with none of these
@DennisKaarsemaker "employment failure" heh
@tombull89 more than once I've had to urgently disable accounts while people were 'having a discussion with their manager and HR'
it is “Authentication Failed” When Logging In
15:24
@GaganVERMA it can't be. Authentication failed means you're not actually logging in.
@GaganVERMA Sounds like the authentication failed. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
@DennisKaarsemaker Heh. Yeah. And considering that it was at job[-3], it usually involved assaulting staff, stealing money, or sleeping with the clients (ewwww!!!!).
@jscott - well grabbing a torrent is going to take a week...crap. Time to find someone with a snow leopard dvd
@Magellan sleeping with clients is a real possiblity here too. All people who give us money own hotels and have the opportunity :)
15:26
when i m logging in, it giving me an error authentication failed inspite of correct login credentials
(i should add that I have not yeard heard of this happening)
@GaganVERMA Boot into single-user mode and investigate the logs.
its also new to me
@GaganVERMA have you tried turning it off and on again?
@DennisKaarsemaker While your clients are in fact transient, at least they're not homeless.
15:26
logged in single user mode
@GaganVERMA Here's your clue for today: Authentication Failed ≠ Invalid Password
@dennis..yes..many times
oh, well, just wipe it and install it anew
@Dennis No boss it is my application server
shirley you can easily rebuild it from your config management system
15:29
@GaganVERMA It's not of much use if you can't manage it... On another, but not unrelated note, This is *NOT* a place for 'Live Support', ask on the main site.
@GaganVERMA If you would like to contact me via netdirect.ca, we would be happy to work with you to restore functionality to your server as an emergency call.
@MathiasR.Jessen well, it's not like we were giving him any support :)
Thinly veiled ridicule and sarcasm may be mistaken for support, but can only lead to wrong results. Just the way I like it
@Mikey i am on netdirect.ca
@Tanner pls help
@NathanC nothing in logs
@GaganVERMA let's be really clear here. This is not a place for live support. You must ask on serverfault.com and explain exactly what you did already. Maybe someone will help there
@GaganVERMA lolno
Dan
Dan
15:35
Thought my install was slow - left ProcMon running, whoops
@GaganVERMA I don't know anything about centos anyway
oh, our datacenter provider just rebooted a switch and wrote me an e-mail that they accidentally removed the switch configuration
@GaganVERMA So far we've just been poking fun at you, which I think you didn't get. So there you go. We don't do live support in here, go to the main site.
@Tanner LOLNO
@GaganVERMA OK... click 'Contact Us'. BTW, you will need to provide billing information.
15:36
@faker nice one.
@faker So all servers inaccesible, or all clients in one vlan?
@faker "WHOOPS OUR BAD! #LOLOPS"
I wish this chat room would have a blocker on entry where you would have to type in "I agree to not use this room for free support, and I will ask my question on the site first"
@DennisKaarsemaker one rack offline
@faker anything important?
@DennisKaarsemaker Okey
15:37
except general questions like how is babby formed
@DennisKaarsemaker yes... Our VPN gateway :D
@pauska how do magnets work?
@faker hah, oops :)
man I have the weirdest dreams these days
@JoelESalas did you dream of @wesley riding a bike?
@JoelESalas I very VERY rarely remember my dreams. Today I remember thinking when I woke up this morning "WHOAH that was a really weird dream." But I have no idea what the content of the dream was.
15:39
what worries me more is that they have to manually reconfigure the switch now, they didn't have the config backed up
@MikeyB LOLNO
it's been 40 minutes, wtf
@faker lrn2rancid
ah, rancid
I like appropriately named software :)
goobye
15:41
bye @GaganVERMA, good luck with your authentication problems
@MikeyB yes... we don't have access to the switches, we pay them to manage the switches :(
@faker wasn't directed at you :P
@faker looks like you'll be asking for a refund :)
oh yes, whatever we paid it was too much
@MikeyB I dreamed I was getting a VCP as a requirement of my bachelor's degree?
@Magellan That's bad, but not as bad as copying a 2 year old CentOS forum question word-for-word - to ask about an issue my grandmother would be able to describe in 3 sentences
@MathiasR.Jessen first I though, "meh he's asking in 2 places, so what"
but then someone mentions easter :)
@MikeyB dude, I had a dream that there were bugs that looks like hair and they crawled into your back. You could only kill them with carpet cleaner. Wish I didn't remember that.

@Iain great minds think alike ;-)
15:51
yeah
is there a mod in the house ?
@cole you are disturbing.
@DennisKaarsemaker my brain is weird.
LOL
15:54
@NathanC picture should be a printer, not books :)
@Iain Yes
I think there's something wrong with this VM...RDP is timing out, it's not responding to a host-level restart request...
Stuck "loading personal settings" when I tried the console. O.o
@cole Maybe you can dream about these tonight
@cole That's pretty damn strange, I'll give you that.
15:56
GOD I HATE YOU
I probably will.
I wouldn't be touching them voluntarily, but honey bees aren't aggressive or mean.
@ChrisS serverfault.com/users/179428/gaganverma his latest question is a lift of a 2 year old CentOS forum post
don't know what game he's playing though
@ewwhite remember the link I posted from Brent Ozar's blog where he recommended people to buy consumer SSD's for a enterprise dell server? He also runs the DBA reactions blog... tmblr.co/Z14uHtxHS-jf
@pauska what a tool
I want a Skeet Emulator
16:05
@MikeyB You should remember that discussion as well, since you were the one arresting me on not properly explaining when RAID5 is bad :)
that's from @petergrace btw
@Iain I'm trying to figure it out... He's cross-posting on SU too.
:( my second DV this year boo bwa blubbber
@cole here's one for friday
@Iain wat? DV reads as domestic violence/assault here in the US.
16:11
down vote
@Iain Oh, hee, =)
^still my favorite
<3 it
I love it when people in the neighborhood just stop and park their cars in the middle of the street.
I also find it amusing that O'Reilly's PowerShell books have armadillos and turtles on the cover.
16:23
I have a "great" project tomorrow and friday.. gotta get 4 different wordpress sites up and running on IIS+MySQL
@pauska Can you just use IIS to proxy to Linux/Apache/MySQL? :)
@Magellan This guy maybe? From 2:00 and on it's a regular Austin Powers video
@jscott We really don't want any non-windows servers running if it's possible (my choice, I'm the tech ops lead)
It's just ten times easier when you standardize the OS..
bit scared of mysql on windows, but maybe it's unjust
@pauska You should be scared of mysql on windows.
I know that PHP works pretty great on IIS
@MichaelHampton It's sad that wordpress doesn't have a native mssql connector :(
16:27
@pauska Ah. Be aware there's a plugin to do multi-domain-mapping using multi-site. I've found it pretty straight forward for consolidating a few domains into one dashboard. wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-mu-domain-mapping
there is a plugin (or hack) that translates mysql queries over to mssql, but that's guaranteed to break at some point...
@MathiasR.Jessen Wow. Just. Damn. That driver has absolutely no idea what to do.
@jscott Hmm.. I'll look into it.. I know that they are going to have pretty different content and plugins
Yeah you can mange each domain/site totally separate, including themes/plugins/users.
@MathiasR.Jessen I also wonder if their little car has a busted tie rod so that they cannot easily turn the wheel over to the right.
16:30
@DennisKaarsemaker lmao yes
@jscott What's the benefit, compared to four different IIS sites/databases?
@pauska I wouldn't. I just wouldn't.
@Magellan Maybe he has a sharp-turn-phobia of some kind...
@Magellan no, you can clearly see the person driving not turning the wheels before going in motion
@MichaelHampton Wouldn't what?
@pauska RunWordPress on Windows.
16:31
@MichaelHampton Why?
@pauska Let's see. MySQL and PHP on Windows are.... kind of messy. And I don't think it really gets any testing or support.
@MathiasR.Jessen That's a typical Seattle thing too. MANY of them are unwilling the turn the wheel more than 3/4 turn from dead center.
I see the butthurt is now dragging up old mSF threads to be hurt over.
@DennisKaarsemaker Let's not get too crazy. =)
@pauska You get one WP dashboard which allows WP Network Admins to manage all the sites without separate instances. You can delegate per-domain admins for their site-specific work. I had a client, with three different domains (and three WP installs) that wanted to manage it all from one place. The domain mapping plugin made it possible.
16:33
@pauska That's my question. Why do that? I've never understood the reasoning behind running WIMP stack.
@pauska This guy seems to have made it work with an mssql driver for PHP wordpress.visitmix.com/development/…
@Iain wow

Q: After installing MS SQL Server 2012 not able to log into SSMS

Martijn BurgerOkay, lot's of posts around the internet on this subject. But I haven't been able to find an answer I was looking for. I installed SQLS 2012 on Windows Server 2012. I installed the Engine and the Reporting Server. In the Database Engine Configuration I just checked Windows Authentication Mode and...

@Iain What's his problem?
Can someone please tell me i'm not going nuts on that question?
16:35
@MichaelHampton no idea, he posted meta.serverfault.com/a/5893/9517 earlier
but I guess it could have started with meta.serverfault.com/questions/5879/…
and now he appears lost to us
@Iain His comments are hilarious
Ahh yes, blame the victim. Sure to make a lot of new friends. (And so welcoming!) — samsmith 2 hours ago
@Iain @MichaelHampton Mr. Butthurt's questions are frequently rather borderline too. Almost shopping or give-me-the-codez but not quite enough for me to VtC it.

Q: How do I open custom ports in my iptables firewall?

samsmithI need IPTables, like everyone else, but I don't use it enough to really keep my knowledge complete and fresh. The setup utility in CentOS is too basic. It doesn't seem to allow me to open up custom ports, just standard ones. I need a text-based way to open up custom ports in my firewall. What ...

@Magellan As expected. His mSF complaints all boil down to this: "SF is not the way I want it to be, you are all stupid for not agreeing"
2
@Magellan Oh god, I answered that one.
@MathiasR.Jessen he must work for the US Senate
16:44
@cole Naah, that's more like "$OtherPartiesProposal is not the way my spin doctor says it should be, you are all stupid for not agreeing"
@MathiasR.Jessen Indeed. And Mr. Butthurt seems to have a habit of asking truly crappy and ranty questions too. Especially ranty ones: serverfault.com/questions/335263/outgrew-mongodb-now-what

Q: Stop server maintenance

user195206I am ssh'ing into the remote CentOS server with Bash. I was trying to stop port 8080 and so I typed stop 8080 with "root" privileges. Now, the server is scheduled for maintenance in 8080 minutes as per messages on the server bash. I need to cancel this maintenance schedule. How do I do it?

hahahaahhahahaha
Hee!
Gratulations. You selected a open source database not knowing what you really do and now it comes back and hits you. Real life. Deal with it - either replace the database with something commercial likely, or put in hardware or rework to sharding with less indices. — TomTom Nov 27 '11 at 21:31
Even the Q @MichaelHampton answered is with the exact same form and attitude ... "The CentOS installer is too basic for my needs" what a narcasistic asswipe
16:45
Whenever someone says "deal with it" it makes me laugh
@MathiasR.Jessen It was worse before I edited it.
Well, seriously - being the guy who designed the system to an unworkable state telling people you made a big mistake that their statement if ignorant and arrogant shows... you may want to change jobs. McDonalds always needs people to serve burgers. Really. This WAS your design mistake. — TomTom Nov 29 '11 at 5:31
lolz
God Bless TomTom.
Mainly because my ex girlfriend kept posting drunkenly "deal with it" to this girl I slept with when we were broken up when she asked if we were back together. I kept deleting it and she just kept doing it.
oh man I dont want to go back to work
But I must
@cole Uh. let's see. You have 2 days left. Go home with a headache.
@MDMarra hah...reminds me of sending messages to all the Novell clients in a network in the past accidentally saying "help" when trying to get the syntax for the command.
16:48
@TheCleaner This reminds me of how I learned what Ctrl+Alt+Del really means
The good news is that if you becomes a slightly more valuable member of the community, you'll be able to cast re-open votes on many of the garbage questions that you seem so fond of. — MDMarra 17 secs ago
@MathiasR.Jessen That package is the same as I mentioned earlier, it's patched with a MySQL->MSSQL translator that breaks lots of plugins etc
@MichaelHampton I've been running PHP inside IIS for over a year without a single issue.. care to elaborate on what you find difficult with it? It's an official PHP windows package. Same goes for MySQL, official windows binaries and tools there as well, but I haven't actually used it in production yet..
@Magellan You need to look at this from a different perspective.. You're a Linux guy, while we're a windows shop. It makes sense to standardize everything on the same OS, as it helps monitoring, troubleshooting and not least educating other people on the same team
@pauska Looked too good to be true, proverb refreshed
@MDMarra Does make me wonder what process could be running (on PID 8080) to actually make that happen though.
@pauska These systems running Server Core?
I keep forgetting that you guys aren't forced to eat up half a gig of RAM with the stupid GUI these days.
@Magellan I tried stop <valid pid> and it came back stop: Unknown job: 15278 so I guess it needs to be a job
16:57
maybe he defined a job named 8080 :)
@Iain Your right. I didn't read the entire man page on it, just skimmed it.
but I like the queen song going on in the comments
No, we're not running server core - we can afford the overhead. But running core at some time is a goal.
As a Linux guy, I'm already accustomed to working in mixed environments, with half a dozen different distributions, and a few stray Windows boxes thrown in for good measure.
And it's not relevant at all to the question I asked
