@WesleyDavid I understand that - research is fun but you live in AZ - just buy a bike and go spinning - if you like it sell the bike and buy a better one, if you don't then sell it, otherwise you'll do ll the research and get bored ... I know this.

@WesleyDavid less research, moar riding...

@ewwhite That's what I said :D

I agree with @Iain and @ewwhite even though I don't ride bikes - that's applicable to anything.

@WesleyDavid any finalists?

@Iain I'm kind of in a holding pattern while I let funds build up, so I figured I'd just keep my interest up by reading and learning about the different options in components. There's a lot of good video series on YouTube.

This "mr.windows server" guy
@MichaelHampton jinx

@ewwhite Liking what I see of Specialized's lines.

@RyanRies You have enough rep, start using your close votes.

@WesleyDavid Oddly enough, there aren't many Specialized dealers. You near one?

yeah saw that already @MichaelHampton
flagged it

10:07 PM
@ewwhite Yeah Landis cyclery which is just a few miles down Cactus Rd from me, is a big Trek and Specialized dealer.

@WesleyDavid Which model?

@MichaelHampton done

is ~10 miles too much to bike to work you guys think?

@ewwhite Allez

@Cole Depends on the path you're riding.

10:09 PM
Has room for Panniers and people do light touring on it, but it's a CX model at heart.
@Cole Nope, not in my estimation. Boston is a bitch to cyclists though, form what I hear. Be ready to command the road.
And buy a loud whistle.

@WesleyDavid I'm in the 'burbs
so is my work

@WesleyDavid The Allez is a road bike, no?

@ewwhite Cyclocross

@ewwhite I'd say so

ohh I like that bike @WesleyDavid

10:10 PM
@WesleyDavid Road bike. The Crux is the cyclocross line.

Those are some nice looking bikes.

Still doing a lot of research into it all.

I hate running, and I hate using stationary anything - so I'd prefer to get a bike

@ewwhite The tricross is a nice bike but doesn't have the sexy curvy top tube

10:19 PM
I know we tend to use the "professional" line a lot but when I see questions from that mr. windows server guy (three questions, all downvoted and two closed) it seems all good in the end.
Ah he even says "student" in his profile.

@tombull89 Yes, and one who didn't pay attention in class.

I hate it when I chug along on a client, and then realize I didn't turn on my timer.
Now comes the guessing game. "Did I start at 2:30? Didn't I get up and make tea for 15 minutes while I was waiting on a reboot? When was that..."
@ewwhite Yeah, that's another model on the list. Looks spiffy.
Thing looks like it needs some repairs.

@WesleyDavid Oh, I was suggesting a new one :)
That eBay one looks rough.

blah do not want to go into work at 8am tomorrow
making curry peanut chicken at the moment, smells so good
why am I just now waking up, it's 5:40PM fml

10:54 PM
@Cole Bravest hero

What?

@Cole Check yo' emails.
I'm on the phone with a client plus I'm cranky. I forwarded you the email from the guy that messed up and bought my 2big without reading like a normal human being
Dude replied. Tell me if he went full-dick on me.

@WesleyDavid I don't think he's being a dick

@Cole What's he want?
I want him to STFU and keep what be bought.

@MichaelHampton @WesleyDavid @ShaneMadden We rebooted the server.

11:08 PM
@ewwhite Hah! Was the client satisfied with their unnecessary downtime?

[root@oops!! ~]# hplog  -p
ID     TYPE        LOCATION      STATUS  REDUNDANT
 1 Standard Pwr. Supply Bay Failed No
 2 Standard Pwr. Supply Bay Normal No

@WesleyDavid only thing I don't understand is why he said you'll be out $25 for shipping, it was his mistake
@WesleyDavid sounds like he wants you to tell him how to use the product he bought.

@Cole frack
Is he keeping it?

@ShaneMadden One of the PSU's failed.

@WesleyDavid only if you can answer his questions.

11:09 PM
@ewwhite Ahh.

It failed upon reboot.

@Cole I am going to swear.
Does he acknowledge that he totally misread what I wrote?
Ugh - I'll read it when I'm off the phone.
Ridiculous.

@WesleyDavid kinda fucked that what does it matter if it didn't come with drives, wouldn't make it easier for him to setup.
@WesleyDavid he said "Apologies for not paying attention to that detail. Not sure how that slipped by..."

@Cole Well yeah, I mean the dude can now buy two new drives and not have to worry about using 3-year old drives

@WesleyDavid but my point is, why is he asking you these questions now. Even if he had bought a unit WITH drives, sounds like he didn't do his research

11:13 PM
@Cole I... am trying so hard not to just go ape.

@WesleyDavid deep breaths.

@ewwhite Karma. That's all I'm saying.

@ewwhite sure
Lets finish valley and ill go on to pleasing your next client

@MDMarra There's a list of Terminal Server best practices. I'd like a GPO with some of those to be attached to the TS OU.

Sure. Send me whatever it is and ill take care of it if you want

11:25 PM
/shiver ugh, TS

@MDMarra They have HP thin clients. How do we make sure that people logging in to the terminal server login with the right domain name?

At valley? What else would they log in with?

11:42 PM
@MDMarra I don't know if their thin clients automatically find the domain name

@ewwhite IIRC can't you save that info. on the thin client?

@Cole probably

@ewwhite it's no different than the old server though

@ewwhite I used some older ones, and was able to do that for my users

it is, though...
@MDMarra Users seem to be prompted differently.
Oh wait... sorry, the user did it from a PC.
(a non-domain PC)

11:47 PM
Oh right RDP 7 and all. Not sure about that tbh. They'll either have to save a .rdp file with it pre-set or train them to use valley\whatever or we can set a UPN so they can use whatever@domain.com and just tell them to use their "email address"
If its a non-domain computer it's got to be set manually client-side one way or another

yeah, I think it should be okay on the PC's
I mean, the thin clients.
