room topic changed to Testing Zone: You're probably looking for The Hangar; this is a separate room where our bot gets tested. You can lookup the weather for a 3-letter IATA or 4-letter ICAO airport by typing this into either room !!weather JFK (Currently only the raw !!metar KJFK command shows QC flags - e.g. needs maintenance, auto, etc) (no tags)
@DannyBeckett Forgive me if someone else has already said this, or if you've considered and rejected it, but the TAF is harder to read if there's no newline at the FM101400 block.
If it breaks markdown, though, it's not a deal-breaker.
I'm gonna be biased because when I read a TAF I scan it like it's columns (I generally ignore the times 'cuz weather forecasts are never right about WHEN something's gonna happen - I just want to know what they expect will happen so I can expect the least convenient outcome for me)
@voretaq7 Regarding what forecasters expect to happen, the Area Forecast Discussion is my absolute favorite weather product for that. I use that sucker way more than I use the TAF.
i.e. "We're probably gonna have clouds. But we don't think it's gonna be a low overcast or anything. Idunno, I'm just a dog with a weather radar. Where's my milkbone?!"
Today's LOLsome government document quote brought to you by the TAF template document:
> * There is no aeronautical requirement to report surface wind speeds of 200 km/h (100 kt) or more; however, provision has been made for reporting wind speeds up to 399 km/h (199 kt) for non-aeronautical purposes, as necessary.
@DannyBeckett just for rendering. Basically what happens is if multiLine is true, then it checks whether every line starts with four spaces. If so, it wraps the whole thing in <pre> tags. If not, it wraps it all in a <div>
@voretaq7 +1 on Groom Lake.
I guess if you're going to build the fastest plane in the world, you might as well build a five mile long runway.

An airplane or aeroplane (informally plane) is a powered fixed-wing aircraft that is propelled forward by thrust from a jet engine or propeller. Airplanes come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and wing configurations. The broad spectrum of uses for airplanes includes recreation, transportation of goods and people, military, and research.
Most airplanes are flown by a pilot on board the aircraft, but some are designed to be remotely or computer-controlled.
Etymology and usage
First attested in English in the late 19th century (prior to the first sustained powered flight), the word airpl...
Airplane! (titled Flying High! in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan and the Philippines) is a 1980 American satirical comedy film directed and written by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker and released by Paramount Pictures. It stars Robert Hays and Julie Hagerty and features Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Lorna Patterson. The film is a parody of the disaster film genre, particularly the 1957 Paramount film Zero Hour!, from which it borrows the plot and the central characters, as well as many elements from Airport ...
> Over the years, Bellinger and many other pilots would take to calling the Sperry Autopilot system “George” — a colloquialism for the seemingly magical, invisible copilot that had joined them in the cockpit of their aircraft. To this day, the term “George” is used unofficially to represent the autopilot system.
