@DeltaLima Why not use $V_1$ and $V_2$ in the title of that question? Search-related or is there an unwritten consensus about not using math in the title? aviation.stackexchange.com/q/11596/572

@SentryRaven It generally doesn't show up in places that titles are shown, only on the page itself.

Ah, it wouldn't shot on the Questions Overview page, but only on the question page itself?

Morning

nor in "hot questions", or search results, or users' activity lists

I tried the notation first, that didn't work out.

8:23 AM
Thanks, that explains it.

wait, by "questions overview", do you mean the page you get if you click "questions" at the top?
it does work there
and IIRC it works on the front page too

But still, if there is pages where it's not properly parsed, it should not be used.

I think the MathJax notation could work, but I remember it was discouraged to use that in titles.
Probably that is the reason, hot questions box on non-mathjx sites

There's also an issue with the titles on mobile iirc

or just issues in generaly where titles are shown but no mathjax is enabled, like google search

10:17 AM
is it me or Peter's answer does not even attempt to answer the question? http://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/12832
question: why does it look like that?
answer: that's nice but it already existed

10:35 AM
@Federico I don't see the problem:
question: why does this engine have these unique features?
answer: those features are not unique, they have been used before to reduce noise.

@DeltaLima I'm still not totally convinced (you cannot deny that this is the first time that such a shape is used, the 707 solution, while it could be based on the same reasoning, it is not even loosely resembling the 787 one). I'll give it some more thought.

@ratchetfreak ah, yeah, that too of course :)
but the mobile app is still SE

adpowerseoThanks for the post, I will look forward to see more posts from your blog and and also about fpt generators Generators.

SPAM ^^^^

@casey um... so click the delete button? :)

he's not a diamond on aviation.SE

@ratchetfreak sure. can still vote to delete
a diamond just zaps it, no votes required

@falstro flag it as spam, delete wont do that

@falstro with spam flags the user can then be investigated. and the flaggers get extra "halpfull" flags

2:11 PM
fair enough :)

@falstro if posts are deleted from spam flags, data gets put into the spam filtering algorithms (there are posts on meta about this).
so if it really is spam, it is more beneficial to flag it than just delete it
and it carries the spam verbiage on the deleted post now, so mission accomplished

gotcha
makes sense

@voretaq7 This Wiki Q/A got new answers which should be merged in the first one.
I would do it but I am lazy a bit busy. :)

@fooot embiggen huh? :)

@falstro I was trying to use as many fun words as possible.

8:09 PM
woo, I posted another question
I am slightly afraid it is a stupid question

Q: Why do airliners have to file delays through their handlers?

Dan HulmeOften when listening to ATC (commonly Dublin), when an ATP requests push and start, the controller will reply, "You have missed your pushback window," and/or ask the pilot to call their company or handler to "file a delay" or "update your flight plan with your off-blocks time". I have two questio...

@DanHulme Looks fine to me.

that doesn't rule out it being stupid :-)

Sure, just wanted you to know that at least not everyone will think it's stupid.

9:15 PM
hmm, @Farhan has edited my question to break the formatting :-(

@DanHulme roll it back :)

I don't want to do that because you added useful tags too

then edit the formatting back in
which i see you've done
so nothing to see here

I was thinking about making those quotations, but there were several, so I did that to highlight them from other text.

@Farhan if only we had some special way of marking quotations

9:29 PM
But blockquotes for short things seem excessive.

@fooot yeah, we need some kind of "quotation mark" for short, in-line quotations

@DanHulme Nah, that would seem "backwards"
