Q: How to make a Roll20 macro that rolls Advantage and adds a modifier?

aaron9eeeI have an Abjuration Wizard with the Improved Abjuration feature which lets me add my proficiency bonus to ability checks made when casting a spell such as counterspell. Additionally, my wizard also has an item that allows him to roll all INT ability checks with Advantage. I'd like to make a Roll...

@Ben that's really cool

I know questioning a downvote is usually a bad idea, but something about downvoting a question from a new user that got posted to the wrong stack feels off

"This question does not show any research effort, is unclear or not useful"
A question like that very clearly does not belong on this stack, so they obviously didn't spend much time looking for the right place.
That said, it's not really a big thing. It's an age-old argument that "downvotes" are seen as harsh criticism, when really it's just a way of communicating that there is room for improvement.

And ultimately, nothing can be done about it now, and the question hasn't lost any reputation.

@Ben agreed, especially since they can be reverted once the question/answer has been improved

@GroodytheHobgoblin I think you reopened that duplicate based on the wrong question.
I think the questions are highly related, but this one is really focussing on something entirely differnt, namely if the caster is exempt from the effect or not, which is nothing the other questions are concerned about. One of the answers for mind spike kind of tangentially touches upon it, but in the list of spells it is discussing is missing detect magic, too (and that question is really focussed on mind spike). — Groody the Hobgoblin 3 hours ago
This comment is describing one of the linked related questions, not the duplicate target.
The duplicate target is about casting detect magic while under the effect of nondetection.

@StopBeingEvil I think downvotes are more productive at that sweet spot where you've got enough rep it means something to lose a privilege, too early and it's just pilling negative feelings into something who likely doesn't understand the system
@Ben the thing is mistakes happen even with a ton of looking

@ThomasMarkov You are entirely right -- I did miss that. I agree it should just be a duplicate. I also removed my answer as to not benefit from any reputation gains of having answered it.

@ThomasMarkov Blades in the Dark score "Set fire to a great public building!" -- Well, not really an impressive edifice: it was a run down building where a drug dealing gang sold oblivion; a different faction wanted its operations disrupted. It worked, we burned it down without setting the whole neighborhood on fire, and my hunting beast pulled a few druggies to safety; we had to pay off the Gray Cloaks to keep them off our backs.
The Grey Cloaks seem to be ex cops who have set up their own criminal enterprise.
In four sessions we have had only one where all four players have showed up. 😥
Also, TM, I updooted the answer, as I think it will be helpful to others who may have the same question.

Q: How can I make a Ageless warlock?

IsaacI'm trying to make my warlock character ageless, is there any option to prevent death by aging without divine intervention or a Wish spell? I've seen What magic extends life or grants immortality?, but concluded that the warlock (Great Old One) as a class does not have access to most of the spell...

Q: Is there a true-neutral Great Old One patron in Forgotten Realms?

IsaacIs there any true-neutral Great Old One, or at least a passive-evil entity, for my chaotic-stupid character? I am playing a Warlock in the Forgotten Realms.

Q: Rod of Wonder: Useful or Useless?

Ben S.My players recently acquired a rod of wonder. One or two are interested in using it, while others think the risk of a bad random effect is too high. Since the game encourages the DM to change the random effects table anyway, I'm trying to figure out if I should increase the upside potential of a ...
