Anyone know of an RPG that is supposed to be played to soundtracks and game events happen based on audio cues?
Like Musical Chairs with the stopping, or battle music signaling the start of an encounter?
I feel like I remember someone did something like that a while back, but didn't hear if it went anywhere
02:18
@Axoren I feel like I remember one or two like that from when I was a kid. One was the Dark Tower game; another might have been a TSR product from when CDs first came out? (I remember playing it on a drive with the car's CD player, maybe?)
@JoelHarmon The thought's been weighing on me awhile.

I know of a game where players take on the role of the soundtrack...

Q: Must a zombie hear the wight to be commanded by it?

LinncSo, a wight can have up to 12 zombies under its command. How does it work? Should it shout to the zombies what it wants? If yes, what's a good range for the zombies to understand its command? I saw a related question, and it's not clear for me what is a reasonable distance for the hearing range.

Q: What crimes would constitute a 'Universal Crime' or a 'Crime against Nature/Existance'?

ResidentLoreExpertThe question popped into my head while watching Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and it sprung from the un-modified interaction between Slughorn and the young Tom Riddle. If you aren't familiar with the scene, the transposed text is this: "And how does one split his soul, sir?" "I think y...

Q: 5e What artisan skills or proficiencies would a character use to fletch arrows?

FogcutterMy characters were running low on arrows during a battle. They wanted to make more arrows in the field. Did not see anything specific in the PHB. What kind of proficiencies or artisan tools would a player need to fletch arrows? Various sources mention wood crafting tools but nothing specific to...

I would appreciate more eyes on this question rpg.stackexchange.com/q/192806/44723
It seems off-topic in all its manners, but it interesting and well-defined.

@Akixkisu I have an idea, I just don't think it would be well-suited to an answer as it's completely untested and just something I just came up with
and it requires math I'm just now starting on! XD
Sounds interesting :)
The basic idea is to make Legendary Resistances go from auto-success on the saving throw to instead allowing a reroll, but to give more of them - exactly how many is the subject of said math

@nitsua60 I'll look into those. Thanks.

Hmm
So here's my dilemma. I can draw on real-world, personal experience with a particular way a game dealt with Contractual Boss Immunity in the sense that 5E's Legendary Resistances are meant to evoke, in a way that does almost exactly what Red Orca is asking for in this question.
The problem is that the implementation of said solution is something I haven't tested at all, and I'm not fully clear if that makes it unsupported.
20:20
@StopBeingEvil test it!
@Trish I could sit on the answer until I can test it, but I don't have a high level party to challenge with them
you could run a test session, handing them pregenned high levels. "Hey, let's try something. For today, you play these caracters. They are your current characters anchestors."
They're also new players, but I can keep this in mind for later
it's a trick I pulled once in a round 0.5 - player were still making characters, so... I brought pregens and had them play their somewhat OP anchestors like in a classic JRPG

@StopBeingEvil Combat is one of the few things that work pretty well when simulated in a one-player environment.

Being able to vote approve and leave closed is such a pleaseant addition to the queue.
@Akixkisu that too. But you need yourself and another that has all the "PCs" for truely testing

@Ben Why is your coffee cold, carbonated and canned?

Because it's much easier to deal with on the off-chance I spill it in my lap
also that's actually pretty popular around here
I know it's not the same around here but It's a thing
