Q: Are Golems “Humanoid” for UA Ranger?

bluesneezeOur game 5e game includes a ranger using the Unearthed Arcana rules. The ranger has chosen Humanoids for their favored enemy, and we are trying to determine if a Forest Golem (or any other Golem) counts as “humanoid” for the purposes of the favored enemy damage bonus. Golems are typically descri...

heh, best RPG tweet I've seen in a while. (found it after clicking on a MCDM link)

rpg.meta.stackexchange.com/a/11471/44723 I stopped doing that on the second of this month, as I had no positive feedback, and such a tiny percentage of users had the badge after I left links - where I don't know if even a single one of them was a clickthrough.

> @AncientSwordRage Yeah, I'd much rather talk with someone who's upfront about being sad or frustrated or whatever. But I think it's also important to say that while this room is absolutely fine with talking to people who aren't doing okay, we are neither therapists nor entertainers.
There are needs and moods the people in this room are not qualified to handle, and that's another reason it's important for us all to be as honest as possible about how we're doing--so we can tell when it's just outside the scope of this space to deal with.
That is not really an encouragement to admit whether I'm upset or not.
(I am, right now, but only in a general way. (Not about this chat, I don't mean.))
On another topic: how did turning 2s into 8s come up? That just seemed to come out of nowhere.

A discussion about minor edits, and how they bump to the homepage even if you change a tiny number of characters e.g. for a typo-fix

Oh, I've been noticing that. That is silly, how did that get to be like that?

The idea is bumping allows for other people to review the edit, make sure it didn't do harm

What's that got to do with 2s?

Changing 2 -> 8 was given as an example of a very small edit that could do harm by drastically changing the meaning of a passage

3:52 AM
Ah, I see now.
Well, I haven't been asked to leave yet.

Is there anything in particular you wanted to talk about?

4:25 AM
There may have been, if so I've forgotten it.

Q: Is the Healer feat overpowered?

Tasty213A healer's kit has 10 uses, weighs 3 lb. and costs 5 gp; therefore, each use weighs 0.3 lb. and costs 5 sp. Normally, it allows a player to do the following: As an action, you can expend one use of the kit to stabilize a creature that has 0 hit points, without needing to make a Wisdom (Medicine)...

@A.B. I don't think that'll happen
@A.B. I think the point is, if you're angry at the world or something else, and know it you can let us know and it will smooth out the conversation
This happens plenty with people in my life, and whether they tell me or apologize (for taking their anger out on me) after the fact doesn't make much difference to me

Q: Can a Tiny Servant made out of a crossbow shoot itself?

Guillaume F.The spell Tiny Servant lets the caster create a tiny creature out of an object: You touch one Tiny, nonmagical object that isn’t attached to another object or a surface and isn’t being carried by another creature. The target animates and sprouts little arms and legs, becoming a creature under yo...

@Akixkisu I'll give you positive feedback: I think leaving comments like that is a great thing to do, and in many ways that "whether or not the new user had the tour badge a few days later" doesn't measure.

3:30 PM
@nitsua60 Of the 134 comments that I checked on that day, 8 had the badge (before I link I always check if they already have it), 0 were active users.

It's never a bad idea to welcome someone.
Unless it's a vampire, I guess.

Hmm, it can feel intimidating to have someone approach you, or you can think they are sending you an annoying automated message - even if you personalise it, they don't know.

True, but I'm not going to be welcoming because someone may not want to be welcomed.
I'd prefer to risk that, but that's me.
I really think Kryan's wisdom attack build request is going to be a multiclass with magic stone.

I think a welcoming message and being welcoming is different, I guess.

Possibly, but my intent is welcoming. If someone wants to read it as unwelcoming, then that's kind of on them.

3:44 PM
Sure, I guess I'm not convinced that sending a welcoming message is something I should do anymore.

If you don't feel good about it, then your intent changes, too.
When I haven't, I've stopped as well.
When I feel it, I do it.
But I've even had someone ping me in a comment to leave a welcome message which I thought was strange. They could have used the keyboard to welcome them :P

@NautArch hm, I think that the welcoming message type is not conducive. I think that ineracting is conducive.
But an initial welcome message itself doesn't achieve that.

@Akixkisu And that's totally reasonable. But we're not really about interacting here.
We're here to ask and answer questions, so a welcome and introduction to that style change I believe is helpful.
But if you don't feel like it's useful, then that's absolutely reasonable. It just doesn't prevent me from thinking that it's nice and doing it.

@NautArch I think answering and workshopping is interacting.

@Akixkisu Then that's your schtick here and you can run with that! Mine can be and is different.
I mean, not really, but we can go about doing that in different ways.

3:48 PM
Yeah.
The context is that meta, I'm not trying to convice, just sharing my impression of it.

Is the only build that's ranged TWF going to be throwing daggers/hand axes/light hammers?

4:05 PM
@NautArch Javelins? Boomerang (on odd grounds admittedly)?

@Someone_Evil nope, not light.

Dual Wielder?

I guess that would be another investment to do it.
Which I don't think is likely worth it compared to magic stone.
But i'll add a section on Dual Wielder

Yeah, I don't think there are any ways to make weapon attacks use wisdom (outside shillelagh)
The sun monk attacks still use Dex, despite being ranged spell attacks (IIRC)

I think a v.human with magic intiiate for magic stone and then picking whatever class you want is the best bet.

4:24 PM
There's a couple ways to get what they want through magic items, but not ones reliably available (ie through Artificer's infusions), so I presume they're not applicable

He's got a point about TWF, so he'll lose that bonus action attack.
But he could trade it in for a d4 on each of the other attacks with kensei

You'll be using that BA for magic stone most/half the time anyway

Yep
Or 1/3 of the time :P
1/4?

Extra attack uses two per turn, so you'd need to recast every 2 out of three turns

ah, whoops.
Better to save that BA for something extra.
Still a fan of kensei monk here.
You're pumping WIS already.

4:27 PM
If you somehow get up to three attacks per turn you'd need to cast it every turn, so you'd only be able to do that on a L11 fighter
Ranger? You could up magic stone with the fighting style should you wish

Yeah, thought about that build, too. Going fighter and then dipping away once you've got to 3 attacks.
Get a bunch of ASIs like dual wielder, crossbow expert, ss.
