Q: Does Hold Person cast on a Spider Climbing NPC affect their ability stay on a vertical surface?

It's been a few months since anybody re-upped this, I think:

Anyone can ask for a conversation to be moved to the Not A Bar (or other chat room) at any time and a room owner or rpg.se mod will re-locate it as swiftly as possible. This does not reflect poorly on the topic, the conversers, or the asker; sometimes there's just a need for conversations to be opt-in rather than opt-out. Every RO and rpg.se mod has agreed to support this, and we'll never ask for justification.

Good morning everyone, I've been researching pearls this morning (since the Salt Marsh Campaign is maritime, and one of the kinds of gems is pearls now and again) and am somewhat overwhelmed by the nuances of the pearl industry. (Bought my wife some Mikimoto pearls in Japan about 30 years ago, but she prefers the Mallorca pearls I got her five years later. I guess shell pass the Mikomoto's down to our grand daughter some day ...)

Pearls figure in the identify spell as a material component, still, but PCs no longer need to eat a goldfish.

Fun fact that I enjoyed: the biggest natural pearl ever found was from the Philippines and weighed 75 pounds. (Pretty sure that's not going to be on a necklace any time soon unless you are a storm giant ...)

Also related fun fact: the Pearly Gates are not actually made out of pearls! Due to manufacturing constraints at the time of construction, and especially the total lack of any pearl industry, they had to settle for an imitation material.

@doppelgreener Manufacturing constraints? What was there to manufacture? Each gate was made out of 1 pearl.

@doppelgreener nacre, most likely, such that we may speculate that "pearly" means "kind of like pearls" (mother of pearl was used IIRC waaay back when, but I'd need to look that up)

My WIS is really low, I'll have you know.

You get the feeling that Someone_Evil is someone evil, but you're not sure about Rubiksmoose, they are something of a puzzle.

I heard that Rubiksmoose was once a human, and fell victim to a true polymorph gone wrong. At the moment of casting, the archwizard couldnt decide between object or beast and got his wires crossed.

Since we've got @Rubiksmoose and @Someone_Evil here, we never had a 2020 community review thread like in 2019

I suspect this is because the regularly shcedule programming was put off because of the moderator election.

@ThomasMarkov I have done a bunch of those easy aignment surveys over the years and it always returns "neutral good" for me so I stopped taking them.

@ThomasMarkov Or it's because we fixed everything and it's all good.
