Yo... I'm getting solar panels and the previous company made a point, without me even asking, to tell me they didn't haggle so that I knew I was "getting the best deal they offered".
I decided to go with another company and emailed the first company back and the rep calls me that he "just got a lower rate" and cuts like 15% off his original number.
Similar reason I went with a different roofing company.
I had them out, they quoted me 7k. I said great; I'd just have to get the funds together. I call them a few months later and that guy no longer works with the company and they need to send another guy for a new estimate. now the price is 7700. "but if we don't do the gutters, I can get you down to 7k".
@goodguy5 Was there a date on how long it was good for? It's quite possible material costs have risen(they definitely have...thanks trade wars) and if it's past the date then it's more reasonable.
There wasn't a date, and the guy quoted rising material cost gave me a real smug expression when I blamed the trade war, which was enough reason for me to kick him out.
But I also know how much money gutters cost. And for my little Rancher, it's not $700
And add in the fact that the other guy could do it.

i have tendonitus in my right ankle bad enough to make me lose 20% of the mobility and 30% of the dexterity and it doesn't hurt unless I walk about a mile
even then it's perfectly bareable

@goodguy5 I think that's generally because we know what humans look like. THey define the things that visually (generally) makes elves elves and dwarves dwarves.
Even if our dwarf lost his beard due to a wild magic incident (i think)
@goodguy5 I always thought that was because other races evolved for a specific geographically distinct environment (resulting in less genetic diversity) while humans are more widespread.
Elves are easily identified by their refusal to understand how war spoils work. Cast it into the fire? How dare you, I got this ring fair and square, Elrond.
Ok, to recap: To play a nekomimi idol bard, if that's what you wanted, you can use builtin 5E stuff, plus reflavoring. Ask the DM for permission, because this doesn't gain any unfair mechanical advantages. End of discussion. Let's not venture into not-friendly tangents.
@G.Moylan In our other campaign, DM had given a character some unknown potion - which they drank during a long puzzle sequence but left them basically totally out of it. It was awful. Yes, this was thes ame problematic DM.
As with most character concepts, it's important to identify how important mechanical features are to you. For example, you could easily be a pop singer with any class. Now if you want your singing to have magical effects, then you start to narrow your options down.

@G.Moylan FWIW, it was a little dark, but IMO was an improvement on what they tried in Tommy. Plus, it had some great songs like "Love, Rein O'er Me" that took advantage of Daltry's unique vocal style.
And for driving music, Dr Jimmy and Mr Jim was good road music. Entwhistle's bass line opening in Can you see the real me was one of those things that really kicked.
@Rubiksmoose For those of us weaned on the album, the movie was a nice try at capturing the album. I think it worked better as a story told orally/in song.
If the film was all you got to experience, I can see a lot of head scratching. (Plus the whole story is a social commentary on 60's England teenagers / young adults / mods/ rockers bound together with various themes of alienation.

For sure. And I definitely missed a lot of the context (despite being very familiar with the album - though way too late to be raised on it by any stretch of the imagination)
@Rubiksmoose I remember as a kid what a big deal it was that a rock band were trying this rock opera thing. My father sniffed at it (he's a classical music buff). I think TOmmy, while somewhat strange, has stood the test of time.

Though he didn't realise that they had doublesold the one of the seats (balcony) somehow and so I ended up 3rd row from the front on the floor. He's never forgiven me.

@G.Moylan Yeah, the story is a little sick. But if you look at the social context of the 1960's, there was a lot of reacting to the strangeness of the world being expressed musically.
I just went through some of my old Humble Pie records, and I am struck with how raw, but also how clean, their music is. Uncluttered.
@goodguy5 I'd think it is. It's part of the action blood drain. That action is an attack if it's not attached an action to drain when attached (or at least that's how i'd answer.)

One of the new spells from Xanathar's Guide to Everything is Dragon's Breath. Even though the spell is attacking, nowhere in the spell description does it specifically say that you are attacking with it, only that you use an action. My question is can a familiar that has this spell cast on it use...
i'm trying to figure out if it can drain more than 10HP, if it needs to drain 10hp before detaching, and if it can attach to the same creature more than once.

Attaching itself is an Action, but draining occurs automatically while latched.
I mean, I don't know how you can read it that way. The way it's written, it seems to forgo spending any Action at all after it's been latched, unless on some other Action.
@NautArch I've always the part about detaching as behavior guidance. Following the flavor description from the monster manual:
> Blood Drain. A stirge attacks by landing on a victim, finding a vulnerable spot, and plunging its proboscis into the flesh while using its pincer legs to latch on to the victim. Once the stirge has sated itself, it detaches and flies off to digest its meal.
@Xirema My logic is: Stirge has action of blood drain. It begins with an attack. Then once attached, instead of the attack, it drains. BUt it's all part of their blood drain action.
I mean, at start-of-turn the drain happens, and then the Stirge could decide to take a different action, like Dodge. I don't think you can interpret the drain itself as an Action if that scenario is possible.

On an 11 or higher, the spell doesn't take effect until the creature's next turn, and the creature must use its action on that turn to complete the spell. @NautArch We now see the design problem involved in choosing to make the stirge a beast rather than a monstrosity. On the bright side, a druid can still summon a few of those to vex their opponents ...
@NautArch What actions would even be available? It can't attack or move because its face is stuck in something. What's it going to do, cast a spell? :/
@NautArch I'm assuming the asker simply thought they had already discovered all the multiclass options, and did not want to do fighter or barbarian, when they asked for non-multiclass options.
