Regular magic items don't require spellcasting at all. Just a formula, tool/arcana proficiency, and magical ingredients/quest

@Rubiksmoose I don 't think it 's mean /uncalled for /unreasonable . But consider that it might not be purposeful . Sometimes , keyboards glitch out and do weird things and people can 't be bothered to fix it .

But then again, it is a really minor thing overall and probably only bothers a few people. And is also relatively easy to fix. But still. It would be nice if the user would take care of it.

I spilled some stuff on my keyboard awhile ago and I would inadvertently add spaces in front of every 2 , 3 , or period .

I took it apart and cleaned it and it was fine after it dried .

I'm going to be a player (like in a real long-term campaign, because I'm in love with the group) for the first time in a while, and I need to know how much backstory is too much. (I've written 25 pages and condensed a short summary). Should I scrap my full text or show it to my GM to make sure it fits into the world? Is vagueness better so my GM has an easier time fitting it in, or is depth better so my GM has less work? (I know it depend on the GM, but what are some other GM's opinions?)

@DavidCoffron I suggest doing it like a resume. Do a one page "high points" and as much as you want for the long version. Korvin Starmast's back story was presented to my DM that way. He liked both, and used bits of both. My fellow players included two "TLDR" only sorts, and three who like more meat (including both of the ones who are published authors)

@nitsua60 Heh, the icky I was referring to is the prose style in the CoC, but that's as much a combination of it being a matter of taste and how I used to have to write policy documents ... about half of a lifetime ago.

@Rubiksmoose that answer is also grossly incorrect. Nothing allows spell slots to be used with any spell you know. And the Spellcasting feature is what allows you to use spell slots with specific spells

Magic Initiate is more specific than the general Spellcasting rules
