@BESW I shall have to try that one out. Duncan has been our provider boxed brand for awhile.

@doppelgreener I'm letting them cool overnight, but I think they're good.

@BESW agreed

@BESW Oh, the previous batch!
The original highly experimental batch.
if they are one and the same. otherwise, i just mean the previous batch.

@NautArch Duncan's okay, and cheaper. I use Ghirardelli when I need to pull out all the stops (and if you're baking from most ANY mix that needs oil, use olive oil and people will ask you for the recipe).
@doppelgreener Fudgey! Very moist and shockingly rich.

Lovely. (Mostly. Shockingly rich doesn't sound quite so good.)

1:02 PM
I like my brownies a little easier to binge.
These are very good, but become "too much" far too quickly.

mornin

Still, I'm in an informal contest with a co-worker who made cakey brownies with nuts and craisins last week.
So something very different is in order, to mix up the judges.

@BESW eww, why would you blaspheme brownies with nuts OR craisins?

G'mornin

So, for me, pumpkin brownies aren't quite my ideal brownie. But they're good, and have a LOT less cholesterol, and are popular and easy.
So, good "office offering" fare.

1:06 PM
What's a craisin?

@Aaron dried cranberry

Isn't that just a raisin?

Craisin is to cranberry as raisin is to grape.

Oh wait, normal raisins are grapes right?

@doppelgreener Good comment left there. I'd looked at, didn't like it, it screamed "this is the start of a forum-thread" to me, but I couldn't articulate it in the time I had.

1:06 PM
@BESW Gotcha

For extra indulgence, there are craisins injected with pomegranate juice.
(Host tip: mix craisins with bite-size pretzels for an easy snack your guests will remember.)

@BESW my market carries craisin+cherry juice and craisin+blueberry juice, also. Interesting flavors....

@nitsua60 I've mentioned cranteade to you, right?
Cranberry juice, red zinger tea, lemon juice, ginger salabat powder, and fizzy water. If your guests aren't fond of puckery drinks, brown sugar until palatable.
(Mix the dry ingredients into the red tea while it's still hot, chill before serving, add fizzy water just before you pour it.)
(Ginger salabat is basically ginger tea with a bit of sugar and red pepper. For cranteade, ginger powder or ginger tea would be acceptable.)

@BESW Wow. That's an interesting-looking mixture. Will have to try it on my next victims guests =)

It's also very amenable to adjustments.
I've made it with raspberry zinger, or even just black tea. Or without the cranberry juice.
And whenever I can get fresh local limes or calamansi, I use those instead of lemon juice.

1:17 PM
I feel so unrefined lol. I would consider buying some different kind of sodas a nice geasture for guests.

@Aaron my guests get...tapwater. :P

I've almost always got tea, lemon juice, and ginger salabat lying around, so it's pretty easy to make something that says "I thought of you before you showed up!" without too much extra effort.

@NautArch we got: coffee, tea, milk, water

And I usually have a pitcher of cold-plunged coffee available too.
(Serve with brown sugar and almond milk.)
(I make it for the whole family; we don't really do hot-brewed coffee anymore.)

@BESW (why are you talking like this?)

1:23 PM
(Because chat doesn't indent?)

> It kind of does?
> > can it do double indents?
nope
>> or maybe like this?
nope
also, good morning

[wave]

@nitsua60 Thanks! Someone proposed an edit, but it's beyond my understanding to judge whether it seems to still be the same question. Currently my stack spidey sense is telling me they're making leaps & we should let the asker clarify -- but they could be actually proposing the exact perfect thing and I don't know it.
@DForck42 (it's the new black. get with the trends, man.)

@doppelgreener // Parentheses are so ten minutes ago. Now we comment out.

@BESW ?? why'd you send a blank message
i'm confused
how did you even do that

1:32 PM
It's not blank
(at least, I see a message there)

it's not??

@doppelgreener // test
^ is that blank?

@LegendaryDude whoa. what'd you do?

reply: // message
@doppelgreener ironically, @BESW said // Parentheses are so ten minutes ago. Now we comment out.
So apparently, his commented out message is actually commented out for you

In all seriousness, I overuse/abuse punctuation in casual chat contexts as part of an attempt to compensate for the vocal and gestural accompaniment I'd use in punchspace dialog--dashes and semicolons to create pauses and imply connections, parentheses to indicate digressions, etc; it's mostly intuitive and there may not be rhyme to it.

1:34 PM
[secretly i knew this and i am joking around & joked too well because comments are meant to be ignored]

@doppelgreener GAH
bamboozled

Folks who've spoken with me over video or in punchspace know that I'm a big gestures-tone-and-empty-spaces communicator.

flimflammed, even!

hornswoggled, no doubt!

@BESW I USE PUNCTUATION NEVER BECAUSE IT IS SO YESTERDAY
ALSO AN EXCLUSIVE USAGE OF CAPITAL LETTERS IS OLD SCHOOL AND THEREFORE RETRO AND THEREFORE FASHIONABLE

1:36 PM
@doppelgreener GRAMMAR HULK SMASH BRANDING INFRINGEMENT

@BESW oh no
i don't want to make grammar hulk angry
i wouldn't like grammar hulk when he's angry

@Aaron it's not called bizarro earth?

For values of "glass rain" that mean a suspension of silicate particles in the upper atmosphere of a gas giant.

@Aaron Good for relaxing summer getaways! Bring a bathing suit. (For appropriate bathing suit specifications, see: NASA Interplanetary Guidance Article 12B §57: Amored suits suitable for short term visit to lethal hellscapes, espeially §57.c, How to boost your chances of survival to above 1%. Budget Vacations Inc is not responsible for any detriment to your health during your travel or stay.)

1:51 PM
@doppelgreener Sounds like if the company from Portal had vacation options.

@doppelgreener TIL doppelgreener is a compiler

I don't really see the point in misrepresenting facts (eg, implying that HD 189733 b is earthlike) when the truth is at least as awesome (HD 189733 b is more like Jupiter, but with sandstorms that move faster than the speed of sound).

@Aaron They may be involved in the vacation planning board.

@BESW I think they more meant that they LOOK alike more than are actually alike

...it's blue.

1:55 PM
@BESW Oh sweet. And yeah, "molten glass" could also mean "glass substances that are liquid at the planet's temperature, which is freezing cold, but still."

@BESW easier for the general public to understand.

And the artist's rendition has white clouds or cloud-like structures.

HD 189733 b is an extrasolar planet approximately 63 light-years away from the Solar System in the constellation of Vulpecula. The planet was discovered orbiting the star HD 189733 A on October 5, 2005, when astronomers in France observed the planet transiting across the face of the star. With a mass 13% higher than that of Jupiter, HD 189733 b orbits its host star once every 2.2 days at an orbital speed of 152.5 kilometres per second (341,000 mph), making it a hot Jupiter with poor prospects for extraterrestrial life. Being the closest transiting hot Jupiter to Earth, HD 189733 b is a subject...

It's roughly 1,300 times bigger than Earth, ridiculously hot, and probably has no appreciable solid mass. The artist's rendition of variant colour is pure speculation; all we know is that the light from its sun is less blue when the planet isn't in front of the sun.

[5e] On a random note, I'm thinking about making a sword-and-board + bow switch hitter. Should I make a pure Fighter or perhaps a Ranger/Fighter multiclass?

1:59 PM
@Yuuki UA allowed?

Right, calling it "Earthlike" seems to be taking a very liberal definition of "Earthlike" -- and such a definition would suggest Jupiter is also Earthlike.

@NautArch Not certain, but I think so.
I was thinking multiclass so I could grab both fighting styles, but I'm not sure how important that is.

(Which we know it isn't. It's about as far from Earthlike as our solar system gets.)

@doppelgreener Eh, the Sun is less Earthlike than Jupiter /s

> orbits its host star once every 2.2 days at an orbital speed of 152.5 kilometres per second

2:02 PM
@Yuuki The Arcane Archer looks super neato

Welp.
@NautArch Can you point me to the UA article with the AA archetype?

@Yuuki would you do rapier/board so that you're not MAD?

@NautArch danke

@NautArch Hmm... I dunno...

@LegendaryDude bitte

2:03 PM
@BESW Actually... since its atmosphere is full of tiny magnesium silicate particles... it's a talcum powder giant.

@Yuuki What benefits do you see in multiclassing compared to just a pure fighter?

@Yuuki my problem with archery is more of a table issue. we don't really use cover a lot and we do utilize flanking which makes ranged options less interesitng

Not saying it's the wrong decision, I just want to know your thought process a bit more

@doppelgreener How much more awesome is this insanely fast ridiculously massive planet covered in supersonic storms of molten talcum powder, than "it's blue like us but rains glass"?

@Adam Mostly just the fighting styles. I'm not sure how important they are though. The other reason was that I was thinking about a survivalist archetype which leans toward Ranger but I'm sure I can just flavor a pure Fighter instead if that's the only concern.

2:06 PM
@BESW Much more.
@Yuuki Fair call yes, haha

@Yuuki could always utilize the background to solve the survivalist isue

@doppelgreener It's the kind of planet that Middle-Earth would've been if the Ainulindalë had been fans of death metal.

With Fighter/Ranger, I could take two fighting styles but again, I'm not sure how good/bad that is.

@Yuuki I'm generally not a fan of multiclassing (even thoughmy bard took a warlock 2 dip..and i constantly regret it)

@Yuuki You would need ranger 2 to get a new fighting style. But you would also get very limited spellcasting. Though you will ultimiately lose out on an ASI and your last extra attack
champion fighters get a second fighting style at 10th level, but they are probably the least interesting sub-class in the game feature wise
@Yuuki If you plan on constantly switching weapons and using the weapons about equally, then the second fighting style can be useful. But if you end up favoring one weapon over the other in most situations, the proficiency you'll get will probably be enough for you do switch effectively

2:12 PM
@Adam However if they go up to 3 levels in ranger they could get an additional attack from Horde Breaker or extra damage off Colossus Slayer. And they already get extra ASIs from fighter so missing one isn't as big a deal as it could be with other classes

@diego true, but then you will ultimately be giving up your capstone for your fighter archetype.
@Yuuki Is there a specific level range you have in mind? A lot of the concerns with multiclassing change if you are only going up to, say, 10th level compared to 20th

@Adam was just about to ask the level question :)

@Adam Hmm... I'm not sure how high we'll go.
What would be the difference if we stopped at 10th level vs. 20th level?
The capstone?

@Adam How good are fighter capstones? I don't have my books with me right now so all I can see if the Champion form the SRD

If you multiclass at 10th level, you won't get indomitable or your 10th level martial archetype feature.

2:17 PM
@Yuuki you'dmiss out on an ASI mostly (if you want the arcane archer route) the 7th level conjure nonmagical arrows isn't a big deal. You would delay your extra attack, though.
and indomitable as @Adam said.

Arcane archer is interesting and I've always wanted to build one (curse you, PFS for banning Eldritch Archer Magus even though I know your reasons), but I'm not sure how well it lends itself to switch-hitting.

@Yuuki if you wield a rapier, you get your standard stick'em attacks. having the AC to stand up in the front line may be problematic, though. It'sm ore that you are really good at archery, but can drop the bow and stick someone when you need to.

@diego Not sure. I don't have my books either :p
@Yuuki How often do you plan on swapping weapons? Is it as close to 50/50 as you can get, or will you prefer one weapon over another, and just want to be able to make use of another option?

@Yuuki and remember, it takes a full action to don a shield.
With the arcane archer, you don't get anything special when sword/boarding it, but you are still good at it.

@BESW Only, perhaps, less talcum powder, more something else, like FIRE AND ASH.

2:26 PM
On the plus side fighter is almost tailor-made for multiclassing. You miss out on your last ASI (19) and 3rd extra attack (20) but that's not a whole lot to give up if you MC into something that's got good lvl1/lvl2 features.

@NautArch Since fighter and ranger have all weapon proficiencies, they both can do pretty well, even if you aren't using your "primary" weapon(s)

With the AA I don't think you'd want to switch-hit unless you MC'd into something that gives you good benefits at those levels. Wizard 2/Fighter X or Wizard 3/Fighter x (for lvl 2 spells) might be a good combo for Arcane Archer.

@Adam right, that's why i don't think it's a big deal. YOu don't get any extra 'goodies', but you're still good at sword/board. The goodies come when you take out the bow.
@Yuuki how are you doing stats?

@NautArch agreed

2:28 PM
Ooh, diviner 2/arcane archer x... make the most of those Arcane Arrow uses.

@LegendaryDude was thinking the same thing :)

@NautArch You are still decent with a sword if you are AA, but unless you are 80/20 (maybe 70/30) in favor of the bow I would prefer something that works with both weapons equally

@NautArch I think either point-buy or simple because we have a few newcomers.

@Yuuki the wizard dip may be tough, then. kinda MAD.
@diego very good point. I just really like the AA :D
@diego @Yuuki I guess the question is do you want to be a jack of all trades with the two varieties or do you want to favor one?

Probably jack of all trades. Even if I don't 50/50 the two styles optimally, it fits my character idea better.

2:32 PM
@Yuuki This actually might work very well for what you want. Most of the revised ranger's features don't really care what kind of weapon you use

@Yuuki If you really want to be a Jack of all Trades you could go with a Dex Bard :)

You'll be consistently getting your bonuses no matter the weapon, with your only real locked-in choices being a fighting style and a multiattack feature

Valor Bards can actually be pretty decent with both a rapier and a bow, the downside is you wouldn't get the fighting styles

@diego But you make up for it by being versatile with your spells.

@Yuuki I agree with @Adam, revised ranger is pretty neato. The even better thing if you do with the @diego suggestion of Dex Bard is early access to Swift Quiver.

2:34 PM
@Adam In that case, I guess my options for fighting styles would be Archery, Two-Weapon Fighting, or Defense (general safe pick)?

@Yuuki Defense can get you to 21 AC pretty quickly, which makes you nigh unhittable by early monsters

Even though I know it's MAD as hell, I kinda wanna pick a longsword/shortsword instead of rapier for the sword-and-board style.

And you get the benefit regardless of what weapon you use

@Yuuki You could also go with the Dueling Fighting style for the sword and board.
@LegendaryDude Yeah, but 20 AC will also make you almost as nigh unhittable.

@Adam I thought for all intents and purposes, a shield still counted as a weapon.

2:37 PM
@Yuuki Nope. It's been confirmed multiple times over that a shield is fine with the style

@Yuuki No, a shield is armor.

Huh.

Dueling specifically works with shield, which makes dueling + sword and board a great combo

If you plan on using a shield a lot, I think it's a much better choice than Defense

2:40 PM
Though if you are planning on switching often I would go with either two weapon fighting or single weapon no shield because on the extra action to don/doff the shield

@diego You'd need an extra action to pull out the second sword anyway without a feat
Unless your DM is a jerk and is making you pull out the shield, and equip it in two separate actions, and I think that is just unnecessary

@Adam that would be a serious jerk move

@Adam I think it'd be your (free) object interaction to grab your shield from your back and your action to don it
That's how I'd run it anyway

@LegendaryDude Yeah, but that's not really any different than what people do for weapons.

Right, yeah. I was agreeing that if your DM made it two actions that's not really called for and is not supported by the rules.

2:45 PM
hence being a jerk :)

If your shield were for some reason in your backpack or something I would understand

@LegendaryDude that's a hella big backpack

@NautArch This is why people invest in handy-haversacks

Handy haversack ;)

jinx

2:46 PM
Okay, I think I'm going to use the revised ranger then.
Now to figure out what I want to do with this paladin/warlock build that's been rattling around my head.

On the other hand, my DM last session waived the time it takes to don armor when we were attacked while sleeping. As the player of a non-armor wearing PC I was rather put off.

Though technically in 5e, the haversack doesn't have any mechanical benefit over the bag of holding. Yeah, the item is always on top, but it's up to the DM to decide if that actually means you can get something out of it.

@LegendaryDude yeah, that's a big deal (as a plate wearing paladin who has been caught many many times without armor)

It takes minutes to put on armor, that's the drawback

@LegendaryDude Many a dispute has been caused in my group because of people who spontaneously decide "yes, I was in fact sleeping in my armor"

2:47 PM
Otherwise, armor is just a free bonus to AC

that's usually when i fall back on my general attitude as apaladin that a good offense is the best defense

@Adam Aren't you fatigued if you sleep in your armor?

@Adam "Okay, you wake up with one level of exhaustion."

Unless you have that feat?

@Yuuki There is no such rule in 5e; purview of the DM.

2:49 PM
my frustrating DM also forces hourly rolls for constitution if forced marching rather than daily. which i find kinda silly.
I've been moving for 8 hours, if i want to move for 9, it's a con check? No. If I want to push through the night, it's a con check.

@NautArch Those are actually the by-the-book rules I think

really? hourly?

Pretty sure.

> For each additional hour of travel beyond 8 hours, the characters cover the distance shown in the Hour column for their pace, and each character must make a Constitution saving throw at the end of the hour.

jesus. well then that'll shut me up good.
i was looking at PHB, not DMG.

2:51 PM
That's in the PHB
Movement > Speed > Travel Pace > Forced March

oooh, i was also looking at constitution checks :)
i still think it's kind of odd as a rule, then :D
as someone who has hiked for more than 8 hours
and isn't an heroic adventurer (or am I?!)

That's reasonable. But I think it's supposed to simulate people getting progressively more tired, and potentially being forced to stop earlier than planned. Rather than just ending 12 hours of travel with 1 level of exhaustion

Mar 23 at 19:41, by Yuuki
> Not me, but my friend. My DM and friend were roommates and not getting along very well at their apartment. My friend jumps 14 feet off a banister and the DM says "roll a dex check." My friend flubs it and takes a bit of damage and ends up prone. He's running a ninja type guy, so he's pissed, saying it's an easy jump. Him and the DM get into a yelling match about it, fight ends with my friend jumping off a 2nd floor balcony to prove that if he can do it, then so can his character.

@NautArch Yes, but were you making CON checks every hour after the 8th? :P

Clearly you should take your GM on an 8+ hour hike to prove him wrong.

2:54 PM
Punch your DM to prove that unarmed strikes should do more than 1 + strength mod damage!

@Yuuki that was a younger me, current me is not in as good shape.

"Dude, I can totally hike for 8 hours without getting exhaustion. I'll prove it!"

@LegendaryDude Best reply to that is "You must have a high Con score. In that case a DC 11 con save should be super easy for you"

@LegendaryDude although we'd been doing con CHECKS, not saves. that's a very big difference for my paladin.

@Adam I mean, it's basically a coin-toss for a character with 10 CON, and it only gets easier the more CON you have.

2:57 PM
he's always trying to find ways to nerf my aura

@NautArch Yes. And you should remind your DM that checks are specifically actions
Whereas saves happen in response to something done to you

@LegendaryDude i'm embarassed that i never looked it at that simply

You would make a check to swim across a raging river, you would make a save to not be swept up by the dangerous current of the raging river.
Also, failing your swim check could result in bad consequences. It's maybe not the best example but it's the first one that came to mind.

So now forced marching will result in two rolls. CON check to keep moving and then a CON save to resist exhaustion!

There is no need to make a check to continue walking; that's a normal action that requires no specific skill

3:00 PM
@LegendaryDude let's not talk about swimming when i'm wearing plate armor :D

@NautArch In a past campaign the players came to a particularly dangerous tidal cave with a slippery surface/ramp skirting the edge of the pool.
Our paladin fell down the ramp into the pool. He sank.

misty step!

This was in Pathfinder, so no misty step for that guy
I pictured it kind of like this, sinking to the bottom of the ocean with a person inside

@LegendaryDude i was polymorphed into a jackal at one point (paladin of anubis) and fell into a pool. Sorcerer stopped the polymorph and I misty stepped next to an enemy and killed him. Pretty awesome sequence of events. Jackal jumps out of waterfall, lands in water, turns into plated paladin, misty steps to enemy, kills him.

@LegendaryDude Would you kindly?

3:03 PM
@LegendaryDude Poor guy...

@Yuuki Old-timey diving suit

@Yuuki That, without the drill arm

I couldn't get into the bioshock games at all.
which was annoying, because a buddy of mine was the lead AI guy.

4:24 PM
@DForck42 welcome back

@NautArch :-D
chat's quiet today, guess no one's asked any silly or complicated questions

Yuuki had one earlier that we worked through
Well, it wasn't silly, or all that complicated, but it was an interesting question

@Adam oh? link to the convo?

started there, and then we all kind of talked about options for a while before a decision was made

if it wasn't for the lack-of-advantage thing, i'd love to make an arcane archer

4:35 PM
@NautArch Reminds me a bit of the battle master, in that the subclass itself just gives you a bunch of options, rather than giving you distinct features at every step

@Adam which i like. it's a choose-your-own-adventure class :)

It's like the exact opposite of the champion archetype :p

@Adam what was the decision made?

@DForck42 revised ranger

UA Hunter Ranger I believe

4:38 PM
@adam oh...i thought it was revised :D

@NautArch Technically it is, but I'm lazy and didn't want to write out more :p

@NautArch cool

Well, if we want more silly discussions, I do have a Paladin/Warlock build in mind.

so, I've decided that my new backup character incase my bard dies will probably be a paladin

I was thinking something along the lines of the "fall of the hero" story. Start with an Oath of Vengeance Paladin and then multiclass to Fiend Patron Warlock.

4:41 PM
@Yuuki i'm up for silly! What oath, what patron?

instead of shooty mcshooter

What would your vengeance be?

I think I'd want to start Paladin 2 then take 2 levels in Warlock. Not sure where to progress from there.

@NautArch hmm?

My initial thought was something along the lines of the Dark Knight from FFXIV.

4:44 PM
@Yuuki I would get at least one of the classes to 3rd level. You don't start getting sub-class features until that point

Basically, swearing vengeance against members of the Church that took advantage of the theocracy and their position to exploit the lower-class.

Might be a little cruddy if your party is developing their niche skills while you are technically still uninitiated

Vengeance probably is one of the few oaths that it would work with, because submitting to a fiend to fuel your vengeance works as long as the target of your vengeance aren't fiends :)

But at the same time, that might be a bit too nebulous compared to seeking vengeance against the BBEG.

@Yuuki You dont necessarily need a specific target for your vengeance. It could just be a feeling that "this is the best way to get stuff done"

4:46 PM
@Yuuki that seems kinda iffy. You're a paladin defending a church, and then submits to a fiend?

Like Batman

although the vengeance is still there...that could deifnitely work

@NautArch Do Paladins have to be sworn to a church?

@NautArch thematically, it sounds better to me as an oathbreaker

@Yuuki no, but it initially seemed odd to be protecting the values of the church (vengeance against those abusing it) by submitting to a fiend
but another way of looking at it s as a flawed hero.

4:47 PM
@Yuuki No, their power comes from their oath. Their devotion to a cause gives them strength.

Your vengeance isn't supporting the church - it's punishing those who used their power improperly

@NautArch FFXIV's Dark Knight isn't a part of the Church actually.

and gathering any help to do that in your singleminded pursuit against them is a cool story
@Yuuki never played any FF games :(

@NautArch XIV's a weird one because it's also an MMORPG.
The Dark Knight storyline itself is a bit strange.
It takes place in the expansion, so you are already an established hero.
You come across a defeated (and dead) warrior whose spirit calls himself a Dark Knight using evil powers to defend the helpless against the ruling theocracy. As you play through the story, it's eventually revealed the spirit isn't real and is more of an expression of your subconscious rage and distaste against the wrongs you've faced during your time as a hero.

@Yuuki that's pretty cool - and definitel works with the oath of vengeance. You'll be one disturing PC, though :)

4:53 PM
It's one of the more interesting class storylines, but it's also edgy as hell.

@Yuuki neato burrito
@Yuuki this edges me

I was thinking about Tiefling but there's that edge factor again. I'm open to other races, though I'd prefer having either a Strength or Charisma bonus.
Tiefling does have that sort of "hero to undertrodden masses" thing though, given how they're typically oppressed due to their heritage.

@Yuuki The Aasimar races in Volo's Guide to Monster might be a good choice as well. Particularly the Fallen Aasimar

@Yuuki agreed, Fallen Aasimar seems perfect.

5:11 PM
Dragonborn also have bonuses to strength and charisma, but I'm not sure that would be thematically appropriate.

Hmm... since the subrace can change, I might start with a different subrace and then change to Fallen when I make the Warlock pact.

Make sure the DM is cool with that, but it's a pretty cool idea

protection->fallen?

5:51 PM
I have an idea for a character concept that I call the "Fateweaver." Lightfoot halfling diviner 2/wild mage x, take the Lucky feat at level 4.

Hey folks!
I might be getting into a Call of Cthulhu game soon. Having never played before, are there sources for info for beginners?

@LegendaryDude that's a little bit like the diviner wizard i'm developing, minus the wild mage. This guy (forest gnome) was basically too smart for his own good and had a natural ability to know what's coming which he used to cheat on his wizarding exams and in turn got him kicked out of school. left to wander the country side looking for knowledge and kicking butt.
@DavidWilkins sorry man, never played it before. I would be very surprised if no one here could help you, so give it some time for others to respond :)

@NautArch Yeah. I was trying to think of a character who has the most ways to manipulate dice rolls or grant adv/disadv. This was the one that had the most ways of doing that; if anyone has suggestions on what else I might add to it that'd be cool.

i may have to look into wild mage more to see if i fits the bill as he levels.

@DavidWilkins Have you read anything from the Mythos? That's probably the best place to start (and the free-est).
@NautArch I like it for Tides of Chaos and Bend Luck features

@LegendaryDude I have not, but I do know bits and pieces from casual discussion.

Also, really like the concept of a character who controls his fate but suffers random surges of magical power as a consequence
@DavidWilkins ebooks.adelaide.edu.au/l/lovecraft/hp Start with, obviously, The Call of Cthulu.

Yeah, that's kind of a neat twist. Mine is really more of a know-it-all so I"m not sure it would work :)
