and I figure it will def be a question neophytes to rpgs who pick up 5e or just anyone who glosses over the rules to fast might not immediately see
@waxeagle @gmnoob Im probably going to post a 5e question about whether two weapon fighting fighter or great weapon fighter (with a maul or greatsword) deals more damage aboud would love for one of you to answer with all the dicey math you did for me to help answer that question in chat (Unrelated to this other question I am discussing above)
As has been hinted at across many posts in Meta, 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons is coming out soon! To lead us into this, we've sent 3 advance copies to 3 users selected amongst those voted by your community. So let us begin by congratulating the winners - DampeS8N, Joshua Aslan Smith, and Obl...
@grubermensch myself and the two others have our own pre-starter kit mini raffle to decide which of us gets a copy of the PHB seperate from the other PHB raffle
the 4th bullet point
the 2 of us who dont get that copy of PHB can compete for the general PHB raffle copy
I think the raffle makes sense given how expensive the books will be though I do think getting the DMG or MM without having the other books is problematic
yeah mine came yesterday to my parents house (my address is not a safe site to ship packages) and I just havent gotten out to pick it up
@waxeagle @gmnoob for next wednesday's article what do you gents think about an overview of potential Campaign Settings from previous editions we hope/think/dare-to-dream will be released for 5e
the goal is for we as a community to have enough questions that when people search for answers they are getting rpg.se vs WOTC forums or GITPG forums
by asking questions we have from basic and the starter kit ahead of time we're laying the foundation for users coming here
obviously answering any questions that come up is important as well but I think they are trying to generate a legitimate body of questions as a foundation/spine for the rest of the 5e questions to grow out of.
though I am not Grace or one of RPG.SE's mods so I cant comment on that for certain
also having those questions already in existence by skilled current users will help avoid a slew of low quality questions on the same topic or at least have a dupe to point to to close for
this reminds me I need to make a signup sheet for the 5e starter kit game on roll20 I promised
@BESW make sure your PCs start with at least some mythos knowledge, hooks are harder to comeby if they don't...the one game we ran was...frustrating, inexperienced DM plus lack of system knowledge...I don't know if it would be something you're interested in, but D20monkey's Insmouth Garden Society arcs are worth a look
