Ditto for what Kevin said. As a C/C++/etc compiler engineer in a previous career, our position was that undefined behavior could crash your program, screw up your output data, set your house on fire, whatever. But the compiler should never crash no matter what the input. (It might not give helpful error messages, but it should produce some kind of diagnostic and exit rather than just screaming CTHULHU TAKE THE WHEEL and segfaulting.) — Ti Strga7 hours ago
U.2, formerly known as SFF-8639, is a computer interface standard for connecting SSDs to a computer. It covers the physical connector, electrical characteristics, and communication protocols. It uses up to four PCI Express lanes and two SATA lanes.
It was developed for the enterprise market and designed to be used with new PCI Express drives along with SAS and SATA drives.
== History ==
The Enterprise SSD form factor was developed by the SSD Form Factor Working Group (SFFWG). The specification was released on December 20, 2011, as a mechanism for providing PCI Express connections to SSDs for...
Actually, idk. My laptop will come with a 128 gig NVMe SSD (hopefully not dramless!), and a 1TB HDD. Looks like it'll be cheaper for me to upgrade the HDD, since regular SATA SSDs cost way less than m.2 SSDs
I'll let the m.2 remain as is, and get a 250gb SATA one to replace the HDD?
I honestly want to upgrade both, but budget won't allow for that atm.

Can I use devices (like modem , soundbox, etc )on mac by installing wine and then installing all the required windows based drivers in form of .exe file which worked perfectly on Windows ,if the required kexts for Mac are not available and Mac don't support my device natively. ?

> Desktop screen - left side not visible, menus beyond reach
>dconf reset -f / I did have a look at dconf settings before I did your reset. There was a line: "x-offset=48" and I'm sure this was the cause of the problem, shifting the screen. The dconf settings when I logged in as the other user did not have this line. How on earth it got there I do not know. Maybe it was me in a past life
After logging in the ntire desktop screen is at the right resolution but offset to the right by about half an Icon. There is a dark stripe along the left and the trash can is half way off to the right.
When you change the resolution to another supported value, say, 800X600 and then choose the "use previous resolution" button. the screen comes back properly centered with everything visible. Sometimes the screen corrects itself when comimg back on after the screen saver.
This behaviour happens in Suse 10.0 and 10.1 also.
The resolution I'm using is 1280 X1024
I have an HP Pavilion760n with an ATI radeon all-in-wonder 7500 and Princeton VL1916 LCD
monitor running on the DVI connector
I haven't tried the 3d acceleration or the tv functionality yet.
My Laptop, an Averatec 6110 with a resolution of 1280 X 800 doesn't do this. I did an online upgrade from Breezy to Dapper on that machine that went flawlessly.

Did you manage to get xrandr?
or see if you have xvidtune
might need running with sudo, as it directly effects xorg appently o_O
no worries, like i said, you helped me out long ago when i wasn't in the greatest of places :D
as a perm fix you could run that command every time, you can likely 'configure' mirroring in your DE, or you can possibly set it up directly in the Xorg conf too
or xrandr might write iut somewhere, but that's never happened for me
