So we're talking really about a very small amount of time where I would need such a device

And I still have my smartphone

I can see the need for tablets in some situations, but the vast majority are driven by the hype rather than any particular need

Now 10-inch tablet is close to netbook but if to buy 7-inch tablet, given I own 3.7-inch smartphone, what is correct logic?

@OliverSalzburg Oh I use it to slideshow pictures to relatives rarely. I also can watch movies rarely from the comfort of my HDTV. But the main purpose is to be able to surf internet, YouTube, even Skype video chatting from the comfort of HDTV. In fact I can connect to relative's HDTV to show relative product on shopping website he/she may want to buy.

Now isn't it worth it to have HDMI output in your opinion?
