@Ollie I tried a while ago (I think a few days before Christmas?), but because I was a new-ish user (three-months?), I was told "we'll consider it, but we might say no", but I haven't heard back since them. I'm not annoyed (I get it, mods are busy and things get forgotten), but I didn't want to ask a ton and be annoying. But... can I have SD privileges? I'm happy to provide screenshots of my flagging history if you want
@cocomac I don't have that kind of power (yet, teehee), but if Makyen says he's considering it, he hasn't forgotten it. It's been < 2 months and I don't see anything wrong with you having SD privileges. But until then, maybe avoid posting feedback messages if you know you can't.
@cocomac I've added you to the privilege list for SmokeDetector (SD) here in Charcoal HQ. You should run the !!/amiprivileged command to verify. It would be a good idea to read through the Feedback Guidance, SmokeDetector wiki, and SmokeDetector commands (in particular feedback).
You may also want to look at the userscripts we have available (GitHub), as they can be quite helpful, depending on how you want to participate. For viewing, feedback, and flagging in chat, I find FIRE and AIM to be the ones I use the most.
For flagging through the userscripts, your metasmoke account needs to be write authenticated with SE, which, if you haven't already done so, can be done from the authentication page and doesn't require you to also sign up for autoflagging, although authenticating is also a required step for signing up for autoflagging.
In addition, to enable manual flagging through the userscripts, the checkbox that says "Allow metasmoke to raise flags for my account" on this page also needs to be checked. If you have no entries in the "ID Site Count Flags Used Today" list at the bottom of that page, then autoflagging will still not be enabled, but manual flagging through the userscripts will be enabled.
Just so you know, we normally tell people when they are getting privileges that we practice the "ton of bricks" discipline method here: If you mess-up sufficiently, or consistently, we come down like a ton of bricks :-).

@tripleee I always register for fancy web tools (even if I do not know what I will do w/ code, I just want to log-in. Just a curious fan, I'm not API-ready. :), i did not realize the robot would identify me by name in the chat room after. (Beforehand, I muted said robot, so I did not notice, then I happened to read your mention.) Maybe I should go back to being quiet. O:) Was the robot talking to me or am I being homoglyphed? Then again, you could be talking about "prosody.im/libpurple/pidgin".
I understand, like an office. Had to learn, not Yahoo/AIM/IRC. I am normally quiet, is okay. StackExchange and Matrix seem to be first completely open/archivable/public chats, mainly impressed by that, as a reader. (For the record, if that's what you were curious, prosody is partly becase of LibPurple/Pidgin, but the poetry and linguistic meanings sometimes work. I replaced my birthname "Gabriel" (religious) with "Prosody" (computigious) which both have sound/language meanings. I prefer P>G.)

@AndrewT. If I'm logged out I can see the highly active question message. If I'm logged in and therefore have enough rep to answer it I see no message at all.
@AndrewT. My guess therefore is that you see that message if you are a moderator, have 15K rep (and therefore the protect/unprotect power) or have < 10 rep on the site, leaving everyone with between 10 and 15K rep with no message.
@RobertLongson Looks like you're right. I just tested on a site where I don't have (un)protect privilege and I don't see any banner. Whether it's a bug or by design... I dunno.
Because I remember it's always shown before to everyone regardless of the rep. Those who can answer see it on the question, those who can't answer see it on the bottom...

Hello! When a one-rep user (with no other public questions) posts spam, should I simply say that it is a true-positive, or should I also use the command to add that user to the blacklist?
@cocomac The vast majority of users are added or removed from the user blacklist through the feedback which is given, rather than explicit command to add the user. Please see the paragraph on the user-blacklist in the commands list for more details.
