Silly question - I notice SD posted in the tabletop gaming chat about something that was detected. https://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/60155022#60155022 I've never seen that on Bicycles, ever. Is it something that needs to be set up, associating a chat room with a SE site ?
@Criggie The admins can set it up, but basically, yes. Over on Code Golf, we've got Smokey in our Mod Office room. I believe it's done through a PR to the rooms.yml file:
@Criggie As mentioned, yes, reporting into a chat room is something which would need to be set up. If you want it, we're happy to do so and also help in selecting options. There are several configuration options. In addition to selecting the chat room to post into, you'll need to choose what reports you want posted. For rooms for a particular site, usually reports are configured to be just those for that site and the meta site.
You'll need to determine if you want to see reports which include only "experimental" detection reasons (i.e. which were not detected by any detection reasons which are not considered "experimental"). In general, the experimental reasons will tend to have higher false positive rates, but they also include the watchlist, which is the detection which is adapted quickest to new spam content.
Experimental/no experimental is a trade-off, but, generally, it seems it's more intuitive to people when the experimental reasons are included (i.e. we get more questions about "why wasn't this report posted in our chat room" than we get questions which indicate people might want to see fewer reports which are FP.
You'll should also choose if you want SmokeDetector to be listening for commands and in-chat feedback in the room. If you have them enabled, then you'll also need to determine who will have permission to issue feedback and commands in your room. There's more about those options here.
